Chapter 348: Chapter 348 : The Special Arrangement (3)

"Qingyun?"

Qingyun immediately burst into tears.

"Your Highness," she sobbed. "I am here to beg for a favor."

Zhang Fengxi heaved a sigh.

"Qingyun, there is no need to kneel on the ground. Please rise."

"No," the young woman stubbornly said. "Your Highness, please hear me out first. I know that I am not worthy enough to even kneel in front of my master’s coffin, let alone beg for his forgiveness.

I have disappointed him greatly in life, please let me atone for it. I am willing to dedicate my life to taking care of his grave for the rest of my life."

Zhang Fengxi gestured towards the guards, who, despite their initial hesitation, advanced towards Qingyun and gently lifted her to her feet. Qingyun let out a surprised yelp as she was effortlessly raised from the ground.

"Follow me."

Zhang Fengxi pushed the door open and marched past the gate.

As Zhang Fengxi’s footsteps echoed across the vast courtyard, Head Servant Zhou emerged from the palace depths. With a swift bow, he greeted the returning general, only to be surprised by the young woman who followed behind him with her head hanging low.

"Welcome back, Your Highness... Eh? Qingyun?"

The sight of Head Servant Zhou triggered another torrent of tears from Qingyun’s eyes.

"Head Servant Zhou, I... I..."

"Qingyun????"

With eager steps and open arms, Mingyu dashed out of the palace to meet her cherished friend. "Why are you here? Did something happen at home?"

"I... No, nothing happened... I just..."

"She is here to meet my wife," Zhang Fengxi stated. With a solemn nod, he extended his arm, signaling towards the new addition to the Fuxi Palace’s ground.

Qingyun’s heart clenched as she gathered her resolve and followed in Zhang Fengxi’s footsteps.

Their destination was a recently constructed mausoleum, nestled amidst the verdant landscape, a mere stone’s throw from the majestic Bell Tower. The air was crisp and clean, the silence broken only by the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant murmur of the wind. The pavilion that Xie Jianyu had often used as a meditation spot stood nearby.

The mausoleum itself was an imposing structure, its walls crafted from sturdy stone, the surface etched with intricate patterns that wove a harmonious tapestry of protective and healing spells. The Grand Tutor himself had descended from his lofty position to personally inscribe these runes, his every touch imbued with the deepest respect and reverence for his most beloved disciple.

As Zhang Fengxi pushed open the imposing double doors, a cascade of radiant sunlight spilled into the chamber, illuminating the space with a celestial glow. However, the luminous rays could only reach as far as the uppermost step of the short flight of steps, leaving the rest of the mausoleum shrouded in a mystical twilight.

An ethereal aura permeated the room, a tangible manifestation of the immense spiritual power that pulsed within its walls. The source of this extraordinary energy lay in the intricate arrangement of ten thousand spiritual stones embedded into the marble floor, each stone meticulously placed to amplify and harmonize the flow of spiritual energy.

At the heart of the chamber, a circular bed rested upon the marble floor, its soft, inviting surface radiating an aura of tranquility. Upon this bed lay Xie Jianyu, his slumber as peaceful as the gentle sway of the spiritual stones beneath the bed. A thick quilt, woven with threads of the finest cloud silk, enveloped his form, its warmth exuding comfort and solace.

His arms lay serenely atop the quilt, his hands gently clasped in a gesture of profound peace.

Several red orchid flowers were scattered on top of his body, looking a lot like an offering.

Zhang Fengxi sat at the edge of the bed and took one of Xie Jianyu’s hands to his lips.

"Baby, Qingyun is here to visit you. Aren’t you happy? I know that you miss her deeply."

"Master..."

Qingyun prostrated herself in front of the circular bed.

"Master, I am so sorry," she sobbed. "I shouldn’t have left you. I should have stayed with you until the end. Forgive me, uhuhuhu..."

"For all it matters, Jianyu never blamed you," Zhang Fengxi stated. "He felt guilty for not being able to protect you properly, that’s all."

Qingyun shook her head fervently.

"No! It was not Master’s fault. I was weak. I should have been strong for Master’s sake. My poor Master fought for the empire although he was heavily pregnant. I am so, so ashamed of myself!"

"What I am trying to say is that you do not need to dedicate your life to taking care of your Master.

I am here, and I will take care of my wife personally."

The weight of Zhang Fengxi’s words struck Qingyun like a physical blow, her eyes trembling with an intensity that mirrored the turmoil within her soul.

"On the other side, if you wish to regain your employment in Fuxi Palace, I know two tiny masters who need your most dedicated support," Zhang Fengxi continued with a gentle tone.

Qingyun’s lips parted in astonishment, her mind racing to formulate a question that had already formed in her heart. However, before she could give voice to her thoughts, Mingyu’s voice broke through the silence, calling out from the mausoleum’s entrance.

"Qingyun," Mingyu had the baby basket dangling from her arm. "come and meet the two little masters. They are literally smaller replicas of our beloved master."

An ecstatic squeal escaped Qingyun’s lips as she beheld the adorable twin babies inside the basket.

Having just finished feeding from their wet nurses, the babies were currently curled up against each other, deep in a peaceful slumber.

"Oh, heavens!" She cried out in a whisper. "They are so adorable!"

"They are more adorable when they are awake," Mingyu whispered back under tears. "They have Master’s eyes and smile. Qingyun, I don’t have enough eyes, hands, and feet to take care of them. Please come back and help me, alright?"

Both maids turned to look at Zhang Fengxi, who gave them a brief nod to express his agreement.

Having granted Qingyun a place back at Fuxi Palace, Zhang Fengxi kicked both maids out of the mausoleum to grant himself some private time with his wife.

"Are you happy, Jianbao?" He asked the omega, who was unable to reply to him. "Qingyun is back. Fuxi Palace’s inhabitants are now complete, save for its master."

Zhang Fengxi leaned on top of Xie Jianyu’s body, traced the latter’s jawline, and pressed a kiss against his unresponsive lips.

"Come back soon, my love," Zhang Fengxi whispered. "I miss you. We all miss you."

From the depths of his robes, he retrieved a single pink orchid, its delicate petals shimmering in the dim light. He then squeezed a small, self-inflicted wound at the tip of his finger, allowing a crimson droplet to well up.

Delicately, he pressed his bloodied fingertip against the orchid’s petals, transforming its pristine pink color into a vibrant shade of crimson.

The blood-kissed orchid was gently placed upon Xie Jianyu’s clasped hands. With a heart yearning for a reunion, Zhang Fengxi whispered a heartfelt prayer into the heavens, his voice echoing through the mausoleum, carrying his plea for a swift and serendipitous reunion with his beloved wife.
