Chapter 347: Chapter 347 : The Special Arrangement (2)

This otherworldly manifestation of power sent a wave of terror coursing through the veins of those gathered near the execution platform. They scattered in all directions, fleeing for their lives, leaving only the two prisoners chained helplessly to the ground.

"It is time to pay your last respect before our late Emperor," Zhang Fengxi told the aghast prisoners before he unleashed the ice dragon upon the two men who had orchestrated his demise.

The ice dragon, its eyes ablaze with an icy fury, reared its majestic head and let out a deafening roar. From its gaping maw emerged a pulsating sphere of energy, a concentrated vortex of pure, destructive power.

As the energy sphere grew larger and more radiant, its ominous hum intensified, drowning out the terrified screams of Liu Yichen and Xie Jianzhi. With a final, thunderous surge, the energy sphere engulfed the two prisoners, obliterating them in an instant.

The execution platform trembled under the force of the explosion. The onlookers, frozen in terror, watched as the remnants of Liu Yichen and Xie Jianzhi scattered like wisps of smoke, leaving not even a corpse behind*.

The ice dragon, its task of vengeance complete, turned its iridescent gaze towards his eldest son. Their eyes, like mirrors reflecting the depths of their souls, met in a silent communion of shared sorrow and unspoken understanding.

Xie Jianshen then fell to his knees and bowed before his late father’s ethereal form.

"Rest in peace, Imperial Father."

As if a collective wave of awe and respect washed over them, the onlookers simultaneously dropped to their knees, their voices rising in a chorus of reverence. "Bidding Your Majesty a safe travel to the Underworld."

Xie Jianshen raised his head in time to see a ghost of a smile formed around the ice dragon’s maw.

The colossal form then began to dissolve, gradually fragmenting into a myriad of shimmering ice crystals that danced gracefully in the air before melting into the surrounding atmosphere.

After the prisoner execution concluded, the crowd dispersed, leaving only Zhang Fengxi with Xie Jianshen.

The newly anointed Heavenly Emperor turned to his guards and spoke, "Leave us."

"Yes, Your Majesty," they answered in unison before they left.

"Walk with me," Xie Jianshen said to Zhang Fengxi afterward.

"Gladly."

The two men strolled leisurely along the winding path that snaked its way toward the majestic edifice of the Golden Dragon Palace.

The once pristine pathway, now scarred with the indelible marks of the demonic invasion, bore testament to the tumultuous events that had transpired within the palace walls.

Ragged gouges, like the indelible etchings of monstrous claws, marred the smooth expanse of the stone, while patches of grass, once verdant and vibrant, now bore the lingering scent of spilled blood.

Despite the visible wounds, a sense of tranquility pervaded the atmosphere, as if the palace itself had absorbed the turmoil and was now slowly healing.

The inhabitants, their spirits battered but not broken, worked tirelessly to mend the wounds inflicted upon their beloved home. Their hands, calloused and weary, moved with practiced precision, restoring the palace’s grandeur one detail at a time.

"Tell me what is happening at Fuxi Palace now," Xie Jianshen said.

"In accordance with my instruction, a small mausoleum has been erected in Fuxi Palace to contain Jianyu’s sleeping body.

I take care to infuse spiritual power into him every day to preserve his body. The ten thousand spiritual stones that you sent me are more than helpful. They have been placed strategically within the mausoleum."

Xie Jianshen nodded in acknowledgment.

"Good. And the twins?"

"They are doing well. My mother comes every day to take care of them. I have a feeling that she is looking to relocate to Fuxi Palace for the time being."

"Heh."

Xie Jianshen sneered.

"Have you decided on their names?"

"Not yet, I am still searching for good ones."

"I hope you know that the dragon baby shall carry the Xie surname instead of the Zhang surname," Xie Jianshen pointed out.

Zhang Fengxi nodded.

"Naturally. I agree completely."

From his union with Xie Jianyu, two babies sprang forth -- one bearing the Xie surname and one bearing the Zhang surname. This way, they managed to preserve the bloodlines of two important families.

"What about you? Are you going to give the Crown Prince position to Jiang Muchen?" Zhang Fengxi asked.

Xie Jianshen shook his head.

"Muchen doesn’t want it. It is difficult enough to get him to marry an omega, let alone force him to take on the heavy responsibilities as the Crown Prince."

"Then?"

"Little Yu can remain the Crown Prince in name for now. I believe I can rely on you or Muchen to take care of urgent matters, should they require your active help."

"Naturally," Zhang Fengxi agreed.

Once they arrived at their destination, Zhang Fengxi bowed before the new Heavenly Emperor.

"Well then, I shall take my leave now, Your Majesty."

"Hm. Don’t forget to send my greetings to Little Yu."

"I won’t."

As Xie Jianshen ascended the steps towards the inner palace, Zhang Fengxi turned his gaze towards the Golden Dragon Palace’s entrance gate.

He then summoned Xiao Huang and rode the spiritual tiger back to Fuxi Palace.

As Zhang Fengxi approached the palace gates, his attention was drawn to a lone figure kneeling before the guards.

Despite the guards’ persistent attempts to persuade her to rise, she remained stubbornly rooted to the ground, her head bowed low in a gesture of silent supplication.

"What is going on here?" Zhang Fengxi asked as soon as Xiao Huang reached the ground.

The woman, her movements imbued with respect, turned around and bowed deeply before Zhang Fengxi.

With a slow and deliberate motion, she raised her head, revealing a countenance that was beyond familiar to Zhang Fengxi.

Author’s note :

*At this point I want to remind my loyal readers about Xie Jianyu’s manner of death in the first life. Liu Yichen arranged for his corpse to be cut into a thousand pieces to destroy his soul.

This time around, he earns his karma by dying without intact corpses. As he did not cultivate, he has no chance of preserving his soul the way Xie Jianyu did. Neither does Xie Jianzhi.

And so, Liu Yichen and Xie Jianzhi were no more, their presence extinguished from the fabric of all realms.

Oh oh and can my loyal readers guess who the woman is? (。・//ε//・。)
