Chapter 315: Chapter 315 : Succession To The Throne (10)

Xie Jianyu drifted between consciousness when he was carefully lifted into the arms of several servants, whose faces were etched with panic at the sight of the blood that pooled on the carriage floor.

By the time he got to his bedroom, he had lost a large amount of blood. It took the collective effort of Fuxi Palace’s experienced maids and servants to stop the bleeding as they waited for a physician to arrive.

Upon receiving Xie Jianshen’s emergency summon, Physician Wei left for Fuxi Palace like a lightning bolt.

Head Servant Zhou had been waiting at the Fuxi Palace’s entrance gate for a while when the elder physician finally arrived.

"Physician Wei, thank heavens," the head servant quickly ushered him past the gate.

"Our Palace Master returned from the Golden Dragon Palace an hour ago... He was bleeding heavily. His Highness Lord Xie is currently taking care of him..."

"Is he here???"

Xie Jianshen’s holler came from inside Xie Jianyu’s bed chamber. A moment later, the door was pushed open in an abrupt manner.

Out came Mingyu with a water basin. The maid’s pale face stood in contrast with the dark crimson color that penetrated the initially crystal-clear water.

Nervously, Head Servant Zhou motioned for Physician Wei to enter.

"Physician Wei, please make haste. The only person in the room other than His Majesty is His Highness..."

Physician Wei sucked in a deep breath.

He entered the room and closed the door behind him.

Fuxi Palace fell into deathly silence as everyone waited for anyone to come out, be it the Physician Wei himself or Xie Jianshen.

On second thought, they would rather have Physician Wei come out first. Xie Jianshen did not usually like to share, not that anyone had enough courage to pry some answers from his lips.

Thankfully, Physician Wei was the first one to come out.

Head Servant Zhou and Mingyu approached him at the same time, intent on questioning him about their master’s condition. Unfortunately for Mingyu, Xie Jianshen chose that time to call out for her.

"Mingyu, come in here."

Mingyu swallowed hard. She and Head Servant Zhou exchanged brief glances. Head Servant Zhou mouthed, "Go ahead. We can talk later."

Xie Jianshen was not her master, but he might as well be. Gloomily, Mingyu entered the bed chamber and answered to Xie Jianshen.

"Y-yes, Your Highness?"

Xie Jianshen was sitting at the edge of Xie Jianyu’s bed, calmly wiping Xie Jianyu’s face with a cold towel. Seeing that the man’s mood had improved by leaps and bounds, a heavy stone fell from Mingyu’s heart.

She peeked at the young man, who was still lying on the bed motionlessly.

Her master had lost a lot of blood, so he was naturally still very pale. Hopefully, he would get better soon. And about the blood... Why was there so much blood?

Mingyu bit into her lower lip.

No way... could it be that...?

But her master’s pregnancy was already reaching the last stage. He was only a few weeks away...

"Mingyu, do you hear me?"

Mingyu was jolted back into reality when Xie Jianshen’s voice rang out again.

"Y-yes, Your Highness!"

Xie Jianshen stared at her with his hawk eyes.

"Physician Wei left a prescription to strengthen Little Yu’s womb. Brew it thrice a day after Little Yu woke up."

Mingyu unwittingly froze on the spot. Her unnatural reaction did not escape Xie Jianshen’s keen observation.

The elder omega turned his body to look at her. There was an amused smile playing around the corner of his lips, but his eyes were as cold as daggers.

"Not that it concerns you, but there is no abortifacient in that prescription. Feel free to ask the opinion of other physicians if you don’t believe me."

Blood climbed up Mingyu’s cheeks.

Embarrassed, she fell on her knees and bowed before Xie Jianshen, "No, of course not. I did not mean to offend, Your Highness."

"Hmph."

Xie Jianshen turned away from her.

Mingyu’s head slumped forward as she took the prescription into her hands and headed to the kitchen.

On her way, she almost bumped into Zhang Fengxi, who rushed back to Fuxi Palace as soon as he heard the news. The general was almost as pale as his wife.

"Where is he?" he grabbed Mingyu’s shoulders hard, demanding an immediate answer.

"The... the.... the bed chamber!" Mingyu cried out in fright.

Zhang Fengxi released her in an instant. He ran along the corridors and pushed his wife’s bed chamber open violently.

"Jianbao!!!"

"Shut up and come inside," Jianshen snarled at his brother-in-law.

"..."

Zhang Fengxi quietly stepped inside. He knelt next to the bed and squeezed his wife’s cold hand. Xie Jianyu’s eyes were closed tightly. His lips, which were usually a vibrant red, had faded to a pale pink. His skin was pale and translucent. He looked so fragile, like a porcelain doll that could break at any moment.

"Is he going to be alright?" Zhang Fengxi asked in a low whisper, as if afraid of waking Xie Jianyu up.

Xie Jianshen dipped the towel in his hand into a nearby water basin. The water needed to be replaced.

"My brother is a fighter," he said, his voice dry and humorless. When he raised his head to look at Zhang Fengxi, his eyes narrowed in criticism. "I was expecting the same from you."

"..."

It was good that Xie Jianshen doted on Xie Jianyu, Zhang Fengxi mused. Otherwise, he might ask Xie Jianyu why he did not manage to overthrow the Demonic Realm when he just learned to hold a sword.

Not wanting to break into an argument, Zhang Fengxi swallowed his indignation and asked further questions about Xie Jianyu instead.

"He had some bleeding, but both he and the babies are fine," Xie Jianshen explained. "For your sake, he flew all the way from the secret exit to the Crystal Jade Pond. While carrying your children under his heart."

The elder omega shook his head, frustration and disbelief were written all over his face.

"I hope it was worth it. Did you two kill the First Demon King?"

Zhang Fengxi’s face turned grim when the First Demon King was mentioned.

"At the end of the battle, Xie Jianzhi and his group escaped with a horde of surviving demons. I asked servants to comb the pond for the First Demon King’s body, in whatever form, but we found nothing."
