The Corrupted Taotie managed to pull out his claws from the ice barrier shortly before the ice blades arrived to tear him into a thousand pieces.

The beast let itself fall into the pond. While half of Xie Jianyu’s ice blades failed to hit their target, the other half managed to stab into the Corrupted Taotie.

A cascade of blood erupted from the wounds inflicted by Xie Jianyu’s ice blades, staining the crystal-clear pond water a deep crimson.

The water churned and bubbled as the beast struggled for some time, and then the water returned to its peaceful state.

Xie Jianyu, who had been staring at the water surface intensely, raised his head to look at his husband, who was still trapped inside his ice barrier.

Once Xie Jianyu was done worrying about Zhang Fengxi, he started to worry about everyone else.

"Wait, what about the others?" Xie Jianyu asked while furrowing his brows. "The Grand Tutor, father-in-law, and other palace masters..."

Zhang Fengxi let out an exasperated sigh.

Xie Jianyu’s sense of fellowship was admirable, but did he not remember that he was seven and a half months pregnant???

Most omegas he knew never forgot.

"Baby, are you hurt?" Zhang Fengxi asked.

"No."

"Does your stomach hurt?"

His elaborate hairstyle was disheveled, leaving half of his hair falling down his shoulders in a state of disarray.

The fine robe he wore was wrinkled in various places and stained with sweat.

He glared at both Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi with flushed face and ragged breathing.

Xie Jianshen snapped angrily at his disobedient younger brother as soon as he and Zhang Fengxi landed on the ground.

The elder omega’s hand tightened like a vice around Xie Jianyu’s arm, and he raised the latter’s chin with his other hand until their eyes met.

"Have you gone insane?" Xie Jianshen snarled. "Do you not know the danger of using your spiritual power when you are pregnant???"

Xie Jianyu winced from the squeeze.

"Big Brother, it was an emergency," he said with a pleading tone. If he had not taken the initiative to rush over to Zhang Fengxi’s side, the First Demon King would have ripped his husband into pieces.

"I am alright, I promise. Nothing happened."

"You don’t know that!" Xie Jianshen snapped. "We are going back, NOW!"

"Let me carry him to a cloud carriage at least," Zhang Fengxi offered. "Brother-in-law, please ask a physician to come and check Jianbao’s condition..."

Zhang Fengxi did not get to finish his sentence because Xie Jianshen interrupted him mid-sentence.

"Zhang Fengxi, do you think that I have never been pregnant or do not know how to take care of my own brother? Kindly keep your nosy self out of omegas’ business, thank you," he snarled without the slightest bit of gratitude.

Xie Jianshen truly did not spare anyone from his tongue-lashing when he was upset.

Zhang Fengxi carried Xie Jianyu to the palace entrance, where a cloud carriage stood waiting.

Zhang Fengxi gently deposited his wife into the comfortable seat inside.

"Fengxi."

"Be careful," he begged.

Behind him, Xie Jianshen rolled hard with his eyes.

Zhang Fengxi took Xie Jianyu’s beautiful face in his hands and gave him a loving kiss on the lips.

"I will be back soon," he promised. "Baby, rest. Do not think about anything else but our babies."

Xie Jianyu shot him a soft smile.

"I won’t."

The cloud carriage left soon after. As soon as Zhang Fengxi was out of sight, Xie Jianyu lowered the window curtain. He then leaned against his seat and clutched his swollen belly. A while later, he suddenly let out a little groan.

Next to him, Xie Jianshen shot him an alarmed look.

"Little Yu, what’s wrong? Are you in pain?"

"I don’t know," Xie Jianyu said. A sheen of cold sweat broke out on his forehead, and his face contorted in agony as an inexplicable pain erupted in his lower region.

Xie Jianshen lifted Xie Jianyu’s robe, revealing two trails of fresh blood running down his legs. The blood had soaked through Xie Jianyu’s inner robe and shoes, staining them a deep crimson.
