The Monkey King roared at his underlings.

"RUN! GET EVERYONE OUT OF THE MOUNTAIN!!!"

The monkeys screeched out in panic. It was difficult to run on rumbling ground on two feet, so they ended up crawling on their hands and feet to move faster.

Initially, they really thought that the mountain was going to collapse, but then the rumbling gradually stopped. Some part of the mountain chipped off and fell down the cliffs, but otherwise, nothing happened.

The Monkey King gritted his teeth. Turning toward Zhang Fengxi with unconcealed fury, he growled, "Zhang. Feng. Xi!"

Just as he was about to teach Zhang Fengxi some lesson about how to be a good guest, something else happened.

A loud explosive sound was heard, and a fountain of water burst forth behind him. It went as high as fifty feet at least. The water droplets rained down on them, drenching their bodies from head to toe.

The Monkey King and Xie Jianyu gaped at the water fountain in amazement, but Zhang Fengxi merely smirked in satisfaction.

"Water..." the Monkey King whispered in disbelief. "After so many years... water."

For many years now, the Monkey Mountain had been suffering from serious water scarcity.

The monkey clan members had to haul water from faraway streams, until the water bodies dried out one by one and it was practically impossible to get water anymore.

There was not enough water to survive on. The dried-out trees and soil under their feet were practically screaming for water.

Relocating to another piece of land in the Human Realm was not an option because then they would intrude on the human beings’ living space.

This, on top of the accumulating grudge against the Heavenly Empire, was the main reason for the Monkey King to stage a riot.

Truthfully, the water scarcity was not difficult to solve. A long time ago, before the monkeys populated Monkey Mountain, the Water God planted several gigantic, nail-shaped rocks to split the water veins all over the Human Realm.

This was done to ensure that most places in the Human Realm had abundant supplies of water.

By chance, as the Human Realm changed its face due to natural disasters and earth movement, the position of the nails shifted and the water flow changed somewhat.

Unluckily, the water supply to Monkey Mountain ended up being cut off.

Therefore, to re-establish the water balance and restore the water supply at Monkey Mountain, all one had to do was destroy the one nail that blocked the water flow.

This was not an arduous task, if one knew where to hit.

The nails were deeply embedded into the earth, only the top parts were visible. Usually, they bore the tiny carvings that the Water God made before he hit the nails into the ground.

The three people came down from the top of the mountain and found the monkey clan members in excellent mood.

Everyone was crying and laughing while they hugged each other and danced like crazed monkeys to celebrate the restoration of their water supply.

The Monkey King sat under his tower and leaned against its wall. His eyes were closed as he, too, enjoyed the droplets of water that rained down on him.

He never felt so tired before.

Tired, but at the same time relieved.

Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi sat together and leaned against a tree.

"How did you know all that?" Xie Jianyu asked.

"Hm? Know what?"

"Their water problem, and how to solve it?"

Zhang Fengxi laughed.

"I didn’t know. That crazy monkey was chasing me like a murderous beast. I was running away from him. By chance, I hit the strange rock and then water burst forth."

"..."

Xie Jianyu passed Zhang Fengxi a judgmental stare.

"Never mind," he snapped in annoyance.

Clearly, this playful fool could not have put together such an elaborate plan to end the monkey clan’s riot.

It was he who overestimated Zhang Fengxi.

"General Zhang Fengxi."

The Monkey King had done resting. He walked toward the other two people who then rose to their feet to meet him.

"Thank you for the help," he continued with a grunt. "Consider that I lost the duel. I no longer have a reason to continue the riot."

Zhang Fengxi beamed at him.

Cupping his hands in respect, he then answered, "The Monkey King is wise. I am thankful for your cooperation."

The Monkey King then turned to Xie Jianyu.

"Crown Prince, I refuse to bend my knees in front of the current Heavenly Empire."

"I understand."

"But..."

To their amazement, the Monkey King knelt on one knee in front of Xie Jianyu.

"When Your Majesty rises to be the next Heavenly Emperor, please consider accepting the monkey clan in the Heavenly Realm."

Xie Jianyu was deeply moved.

The Monkey King knew that he was an omega, and yet he swore his fealty to him without hesitation.

"En. Of course."

The Monkey King whipped his head and then glared at Zhang Fengxi.

"Your Majesty, General Zhang Fengxi has been very disrespectful toward you. Allow me to teach him a lesson."

"..."

This damn monkey, Zhang Fengxi thought to himself. Did he only go rampant because he saw Zhang Fengxi behaving intimately toward Xie Jianyu? What a nosy busybody.

Xie Jianyu cleared his throat.

"It is not necessary. Monkey King, you probably do not know this but General Zhang Fengxi is my officially-wed husband."

"..."

The Monkey King was at a loss of words.

One could almost read the thoughts that passed through his head as he shifted his gaze between the Crown Prince and General Zhang.

Was the Crown Prince’s taste in alphas so bad that he landed such a husband?

Did Zhang Fengxi steal his way to the Crown Prince’s heart by using unethical methods?

"I understand."

Either way, the nature of their relationship was pretty clear by now. There was no reason for the Monkey King to be dissatisfied in any way.

Thus, Zhang Fengxi’s first mission as a general ended successfully and the couple returned to Longjing Palace in a cheerful mood.
