Chapter 132: Chapter 132 : The Circumstantial Witness
Wangshu flew like the wind back to the Heavenly Realm. Instead of returning to Fuxi Palace, he headed straight to Shuiran Palace.
Having seen the heavenly steed at the Shuiran Palace countless times, the palace guards naturally recognized Xie Jianyu’s favorite mount. That was why, before Wangshu even landed on the ground, they noticed that something was amiss this time around.
Wangshu was not only alone but also extremely forceful. The friendly heavenly steed habitually stopped at the palace entrance to greet the guards. This time he flew directly into the courtyard. Not only that, he even tried to barge his way into the palace. It took the combined force of ten guards to subdue him.
Eventually, the loud noises prompted Jiang Rufeng and Xie Jianshen to step out of the palace and take a look.
Xie Jianshen was baffled to see Wangshu in an agitated state. The heavenly steed neighed in distress when he caught sight of Xie Jianshen.
"Release him," Xie Jianshen ordered.
"But Palace Mistress, Wangshu is right now...!"
"I said, release him."
Xie Jianshen approached Wangshu and patted the winged horse’s cheek.
"Wangshu, what’s wrong? Where is Little Yu?"
Hearing Xie Jianshen mention Xie Jianyu did not make Wangshu behave. He instead became even more erratic. And then, because Xie Jianshen did not understand what he wanted to say, Wangshu nudged the Shuiran Palace Mistress repeatedly to the side.
"... Do you want me to climb on you...?"
HIEEEHH!!!
HIEEEHH!!!
Xie Jianshen turned to look at his husband, the Shuiran Palace Master.
"I will be gone for a while. Little Yu needs me," he said as he climbed onto Wangshu’s back.
Jiang Rufeng smiled. For almost twenty years now, he was used to having his wife run around to take care of his brother-in-law.
"I know. Something must have happened to him during his seclusion. Take your time."
"En. See you."
Xie Jianshen expected Wangshu to take him to the Human Realm, but the heavenly steed took him to Longjing Palace instead.
At Longjing Palace’s back garden pavilion, Zhang Fengxi was busy tending to Liu Wenyuan’s broken wrist. In his entire life, Liu Wenyuan lived a sheltered life. Now, he allegedly hurt himself because he tried to pick some fruits for Zhang Fengxi.
Zhang Fengxi’s heart hurt immensely.
"Wenyuan, you need to be careful next time," he reprimanded his betrothed. "Why must you climb the tree to pick some persimmons? You could have asked any servant to do it for you."
Liu Wenyuan lowered his gaze and smiled sheepishly.
"I did not expect to be so clumsy and fall down. Prince, do you not like the persimmons I brought you? Are they not the sweetest?"
Zhang Fengxi took Liu Wenyuan’s bandaged wrist and pressed a loving kiss on top of it.
"Of course I do, but you are sweeter than all of them combined."
Liu Wenyuan giggled.
"Prince Fengxi, you are such a flirt."
"Wenyuan..."
Zhang Fengxi captured Liu Wenyuan’s chin between his thumb and forefinger. He was about to lean closer and give his lover a kiss when a very reluctant attendant came to report an unexpected guest’s arrival at Longjing Palace.
"Prince Fengxi, the Shuiran Palace Mistress is here to see you."
Zhang Fengxi immediately straightened his back and stared in the direction of the palace entrance with a tense expression.
Did Xie Jianshen come here to scold him about the kiss? Seriously, these siblings needed to relax once in a while.
Meanwhile, blood drained from Liu Wenyuan’s face rapidly when he heard the attendant’s report.
"Prince, I am not feeling very well. Can I please rest here while you meet with the Shuiran Palace Mistress?" Liu Wenyuan asked in a hurry.
"Of course," Zhang Fengxi pressed a kiss on top of Liu Wenyuan’s forehead.
"You need to take it easy for the next few days. I will be back soon, my love."
Zhang Fengxi then left to greet Xie Jianshen.
As he waited with a pounding heart, Liu Wenyuan kept stealing glances in the direction of the front courtyard.
No one would find out, right?
That blasted horse was the only creature that witnessed him and Xie Jianyu together. Horses, thankfully, could not talk. As long as Liu Wenyuan kept himself in hiding for some time, no one would track Xie Jianyu’s disappearance to Liu Wenyuan’s visit to the Human Realm today.
Yes...
Liu Wenyuan heaved a sigh.
It was all good. He was finally rid of both the curse and his rival in love. He should celebrate. And pretend that he knew nothing.
Feigning ignorance was Liu Wenyuan’s plan, until the terrifying sound of horse hooves drew nearer.
"Prince Liu Wenyuan, it’s dangerous!!!"
In the next moment, he was pushed aside by the attendant who stayed behind to guard him.
Wangshu missed Liu Wenyuan’s head by a hairsbreadth. His hooves dug deep into the decorative panel behind him and broke it into pieces.
"Help!!!" the attendant shouted as he tried to pull Wangshu away. "Whose horse is this???"
Liu Wenyuan almost stopped breathing on the spot.
It was unmistakably Xie Jianyu’s horse. The same horse he tried to kill. The heavenly steed neighed angrily at Liu Wenyuan. One attendant alone was unable to restrain him. Without delay, he proceeded to launch another attack on Liu Wenyuan.
"Aaaaaahhhh!!!"
Liu Wenyuan jumped to the side just in time to dodge Wangshu’s attack. The enraged horse planned to trample Liu Wenyuan to death, but thankfully Zhang Fengxi and Xie Jianshen arrived in time with a bunch of guards.
"Wangshu!!!"
Xie Jianshen grabbed Wangshu’s reins and pulled him far away from Liu Wenyuan.
"What is wrong with you? Why are we here? Why are you attacking random people?"
HIEEEHHHH!!!
HIEEHHHH!!!!
Wangshu tried to pull himself free from Xie Jianshen’s grip, but Xie Jianshen and the guards held him tight.
"Wangshu! Hey! Where is Little Yu???"
Zhang Fengxi helped Liu Wenyuan up.
"Something is wrong with Xie Jianyu’s horse," he squeezed the omega’s arms. "Go to one of the inner chambers. Don’t get out until it’s safe."
Liu Wenyuan was scared to death. He quickly rose to his feet and left.
He had to run. Far, far away from the crazy horse.
Xie Jianshen stared at Wangshu, who became even more erratic after Liu Wenyuan left. A question rose within his heart.
Did Liu Wenyuan harm Xie Jianyu in any way?
