Chapter 302: Ignoring
Chapter 302: Chapter 302: Ignoring
Yang PeiMin didn’t know what to say, as every family has its own difficulties.
Luckily, Guo Caixia merely sighed casually and did not continue speaking. In the end, she said, "Later, I told them if they wouldn’t let me bring money, then they should at least give me the baby’s expenses. So, I didn’t lose out and even got some money, just in time to repay you for the medical fee from before."
Yang PeiMin accepted it. "Then, thank you."
"It’s me who should thank you, and I’ve delayed it for so long."
After this exchange, they had to go their separate ways.
Yang PeiMin picked up her books and planned to head out, as there were no desks or chairs in the dormitory, which made it inconvenient to write anything.
Ge Sanni stopped her. "PeiMin, are you heading back to the classroom?"
Ge Sanni’s belly was more than five months along now, covered in a thick cotton coat that made her seem bulky, but it hardly showed her belly anymore. However, she wasn’t suited for tasks like shoveling snow and stayed in the dormitory, holding a book in her hands.
Yang PeiMin nodded, "I want to go back and do some exercises."
"I thought you were in the dorm too. It’s somewhat stuffy here being alone. I was hoping you were here too so we could chat. I have something I’d like to ask your advice on," Ge Sanni said with a smile.
Yang PeiMin usually didn’t talk much with her, and Ge Sanni wasn’t a very chatty person either. Because of the pregnancy, she seemed to study harder than others, even carrying a book to the restroom.
Presumably an honest person, but Yang PeiMin knew she was quite clever, which wasn’t unusual, as everyone has their schemes, the only difference being whether they affect others or not.
So she didn’t have much to say to Ge Ni, plus she really didn’t like staying in the dormitory. "If you have anything to ask, say it now. After we talk, I’ll leave. You don’t know how much those math problems are troubling me, and being pregnant makes me drowsy and dull. I need to work even harder."
Ge Sanni pursed her lips and smiled. "It’s nothing special, just some casual chat. You see, we’re both pregnant and can share some pregnancy stories. I heard you’re renting a place off-campus now? How much is your rent per month?"
Yang PeiMin raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Sister Ge, are you also considering renting a place?"
Ge Sanni shook her head and sighed, "My belly is almost due, probably by next March at most, and I have to come back for classes. It’s troublesome since my home is far. I can’t exactly do my confinement in the dorm, it would be too inconvenient for everyone else."
Yang PeiMin laughed, "Then take a leave of absence. Surely you aren’t planning on coming to classes during your confinement? Even if not for the baby, think about your own health. After you finish your confinement at home, you can come back and catch up on any missed lessons."
"It should be so, but who knows what the situation will be then. The baby will be so young... By the way, what are your plans?"
"I’ll have to take leave too." She might not have eaten pork before but had seen pigs run; confinement is a big deal, and even if the sky fell, she wouldn’t miss it.
Ge Sanni nodded and then looked at her enviously, "You’re lucky, having your sister-in-law quit her job to take care of you before the baby’s born, and your mother-in-law will come over after the delivery, right? You won’t need to go back to your hometown to give birth since you have a place here, and after classes, you can go home to nurse. Not like me, desperate, and unsure if my mother-in-law can handle it. Once the baby is born, I might have to rush back to classes, and who knows if the baby will even recognize me later..."
"That’s an unavoidable situation." That was indeed Yang PeiMin’s honest opinion since choosing university life meant sacrificing some other things.
Ge Sanni looked dejected and sighed again, then started to speak but Yang PeiMin cut her off, "I need to go now. Don’t think too much, things will work out when the time comes. I’m not even sure if they are done shoveling the snow yet, and my husband must be waiting anxiously for me so we can have dinner together. I’ll check on him."
Having said that, Yang PeiMin left decisively.
Leaving Ge Sanni standing there lost in thought.
Yang PeiMin truly didn’t have time to indulge in these melancholic thoughts; it wasn’t just an excuse. She really had loads of homework and needed to go home to have dinner with Shen Yiguang.
Their class was tasked with shoveling the snow in front of the library, so Yang PeiMin, holding her books, also went to the library and took the opportunity to see her man’s high-spirited snow shoveling.
She walked by the side, trying her best not to draw attention, but Shen Yiguang seemed to have some kind of psychic connection and looked up the moment she entered the area, frowned, and glanced at her, then promptly strode over.
"Didn’t I tell you to stay in the dorm and not come out?"
Yang PeiMin raised her books in her hand. "I’m here at the library to do my work and also check some materials, and incidentally wait for you so you won’t have to go looking for me. When you’re done shoveling the snow, we can go home to eat together."
Shen Yiguang, looking at his brilliantly smiling wife, found himself without solutions and warned her with a stern look, "Go on, getting cheekier by the minute!"
He even said she was becoming more childish!
Yang PeiMin glared at him and walked away.
Shen Yiguang felt stimulated by her glare, and suppressing a certain agitation, watched as she truly entered the library before turning back to continue working.
His vigorous efforts and experienced movements cleared a large area quickly in the small section he was responsible for.
This inspired the classmates rapidly, particularly invigorating them.
"Mr. Shen indeed has military precision, far superior to us in taking action."
Of course, during the snow shoveling session, they didn’t just work silently but also chatted.
In their class of 48 students, only Yang PeiMin and Li Yue were female and the rest of the males, mostly unmarried, couldn’t help but covertly notice their female peers. Although the college didn’t allow romance, it didn’t stop some from trying to make a good impression, planning to make moves after graduation.
These were some sharp people, but unfortunately, their department had pitifully few female students, with just two, and one of them already married. Yet, even knowing she was married, there were still some who couldn’t help but steal glances at her, wondering what kind of man had married her and whether he matched her level, whether he also attended college and shared common interests with her, thus ending up fantasizing about Shen Yiguang several times.
Now they finally saw the man himself.
