Chapter 787: Chapter 651: Secret Footage_2
Now only Zhixiong and Kuhou were left as the final members of the ancient human civilization at Hill A, and this thought was a delight for Farosa.
"Kuhou has confessed everything; her last wish was to talk to you, how much she likes you," Farosa said with a smile in Secret Script.
"You must be the Witch..."
"How did you know?" Farosa said with a mocking tone.
"Only a Witch could be as heartless and maniacal as you!"
Farosa burst into laughter, which then turned more and more maniacal, almost to a screech.
Zhixiong’s lips trembled uncontrollably, and had it not been for his body restrained by the torture device, he truly wanted to pounce on and tear the Witch apart, destroying this living nightmare.
"You... you are extinct, your entire civilization..." Farosa mocked in a husky voice.
"Has become the sacrifice to the Witch’s invasion," Zhixiong replied hoarsely.
"You even hid underground, but there is no escaping!" Farosa laughed loudly.
"..." Zhixiong had already given up on trying to communicate with the Witch before him.
"Let’s make a deal," Farosa said with a smile, "tell me how to smelt Night Silver, how to enter the secret areas of the Sekisei Nation’s ruins... and I will let you reunite with Kuhou, allowing you both to meet again beneath this secluded tower."
Zhixiong nodded wearily.
"I agree."
"Ha," Farosa curved the corners of her mouth, "I thought you would wait until the axe fell before surrendering."
"You can torture us, but you cannot kill us. The Seven Seals also tried to kill us, but they couldn’t. One hundred years, two hundred years, the power of Idith protects the remnants of the ancient people, as long as he is alive, you cannot continue to be arrogant... Idith will avenge us," Zhixiong whispered.
Farosa remembered the scene after Kuhou was killed, the blood clots of the female ancient human still trying to regenerate on the ground, an ability that seemed more advanced than Farosa’s powers.
If even the ordinary ancient humans protected by the power of Idith were undying, what about Idith himself?
Self-proclaimed "Reborn," Idith was actually the last emperor of the ancient humans, his brutality and madness unmatched, Farosa thought to herself.
The ancient humans and the Witch had a blood feud, and the matter of Kuhou and Zhixiong only deepened the eternal grudge between them.
As long as Idith was crushed to death, the story of the ancient humans would be forever closed, and humans and Witches could easily look forward.
Farosa smiled slightly and left the secret chamber.
Facing the unmanned drones dispatched to him, Zhixiong recited the method for smelting Night Silver and detailed the map of the Sekisei Nation’s tunnels.
Another day passed, and Kuhou was personally brought to Zhixiong by Farosa.
"Zhixiong!" Kuhou, seeing the male ancient human imprisoned at the base of the high tower, was both shocked and overjoyed. She immediately walked over tremblingly, wrapped her arms around Zhixiong’s neck, and tried to kiss his cheek without hurting him.
"..." Zhixiong closed his eyes, feeling Kuhou close at hand.
"We are the last... the last of the ancient humans," Kuhou whispered softly.
Farosa had many twisted ways to deal with this couple of ancient human lovers.
Humans, dogs, horses, sowing fields, machines, the vacuum, the ocean... Witnessing the collapse of the remnants of the old people was a great delight for Farosa.
But her mood had grown much calmer recently, so Farosa slowly retreated, closing the door behind her, leaving the chamber to the man and the woman.
Kuhou and Zhixiong observed each other in dismay.
"It’s impossible to escape from here." Zhixiong looked down at the shackles and chains on his body, "Those who call themselves ’humans’ won’t give me a chance to run away, just like they imprison those bodies planned for experiments."
"We wait for our elder brother Idith... He will come, he still remembers the prince and princess of the frontier." Kuhou whispered softly.
"Idith shares the same genes as us, he can help us take revenge, he won’t slack because the Witch has returned, poisoned our entire race and has appeared among humans again. But humans haven’t exterminated them, humans will repeat our history." Zhixiong said with relentless hatred.
"Idith will teach humans how to eradicate the Witch, the curse of the Witch will certainly be cleansed..." Kuhou said, full of hope.
"I’m afraid that’s going to be difficult, that last Witch... that maniacal Witch in front of us..." Zhixiong closed his eyes, "...is unlike any Witch we’ve known in the past."
Exhausted, Kuhou knelt in front of Zhixiong, cradling his suspended feet.
"We will be free." she murmured, "We will always be free, believe in Idith."
On the other hand, in Farosa’s memory.
After Xu Yang had sent Little Farosa to work at the Church, Madam Medusa promised to fool Little Farosa, and then Xu Yang indulged himself, traveling eastward through Taixi Continent.
After traveling 5000 kilometers from Aquilia District, Xu Yang passed through Seven Hills, Olympia, Constantinian, Babylon, and Nineveh, among other cities of the Middle Ages, and had a good time enjoying the scenery, people’s customs, and historical sites for four years, almost seeing everything there was to see along the way.
He had initially planned to travel to the Great Snow Mountain on the border between Xia and White Elephant Continent and climb to the world’s highest peak in one go, but when his nanometer armor’s battery sounded a warning, he realized it was time to return from the long river of memory.
He kept a low profile on this journey to avoid being caught by powerful Witches, but he also did many things. He played the role of a chivalrous knight punishing the wicked and removing evil, transformed into an intangible sage resolving city-state hatred, served as a shrewd craftsman leaving behind many technical manuscripts, acted as a far-traveling messenger guiding civilization contact, functioned as a diligent merchant trading resources; he even spent time as a pirate, an assassin, and a doctor. He had fun, and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Counting the year he took care of Little Farosa’s family, Xu Yang had spent five years on this adventure.
After passing through hundreds and thousands of events on this journey, Xu Yang had become even more determined and open-minded.
The common people of the Middle Ages had no chance to receive education; they lived in confusion, manipulated by various Secret Ritual Groups, secret Churches, and Witches. The situation was a mess and, in a word, as rotten as it could be; no wonder human civilization had been stagnating for thousands of years, with no progress whatsoever.
By contrast, modern society also has its own set of troubles to solve, with contradictions more apparent than in the Middle Ages.
Even so, people of the Middle Ages, no matter how inadequate, had strong beliefs; they all believed in deities. As long as they wholeheartedly accepted the existence of deities and pinned their hopes on doctrines, much of their resentment and suffering would be resolved.
It is not so in modern times; people can’t find a constant belief anymore, all once-believed truths shatter. Youths looking back at their younger years, adults reflecting on their youth, are reluctant to place their trust in anything.
Change is needed, massive change.
From past to present, through various efforts, Xu Yang had carved a crack in this ossified world. What comes next is to continue the fight, exert utmost willpower and wisdom, break through the cage, escape all limitations, to achieve the progress and transcendence of the entire civilization.
He became more optimistic and open-minded. Engaging in these progressive, pioneering, and era-transcending tasks was arduous and challenging, but not completely without chance. His previous efforts had already provided him with numerous resources, and the vast world and complex history lay before him, awaiting his return to the human world for handling.
Return to reality. Xu Yang silently mused. Then he annihilated himself.
In the bustling markets of Nineveh, merchants haggled over the price; Secret Agents and assassins lurked in the corners; Witches from the elite decked in gold, ridden on elephants, paraded through the streets.
They all failed to notice, in the vast sea of people, a traveler had vanished forever.
