Chapter 657: Chapter 551 Wolf Girl

Sato City military base.

A few soldiers from Taiya Archipelago approached the door of the information control room but hesitated to enter.

They were ordered to investigate the missing network security personnel, and just now several sergeants had gone in to check and were met with screams before falling silent, scaring the others into loitering outside the door.

Even sergeants skilled in combat had been killed; these ordinary soldiers dared not investigate on their own, their rifles providing no confidence.

They speculated nervously about what exactly had happened in the information control room. Had all the network security personnel been killed? If so, who would handle the base’s network attack and defense?

Confused thoughts crowded their minds. Ever since the base was ambushed, it had been plunged into chaos. The enemy was exceedingly powerful, impossible to stop; they could only hope for reinforcements from the Baraya and the Battle Witch to stand a chance.

These soldiers were recruited from the rainforests of Taiya Archipelago, each still exhibiting faces worn by wind and sun, their skin deeply tanned, very familiar with tribal totems, family, and marital relationships, and after several months of training, they were thrown onto the front lines of Black Fire Innovation.

"We can’t just stand here; we either enter the information control room, run away, or call for help."

"The base is under attack; we can’t reach anyone!"

There was no way out. They looked at each other, and the more brutal and bizarre the situation became, the more the soldiers couldn’t help but recall the good times they had on the island.

Black Fire Innovation never intended to occupy territories beyond the Taiya Archipelago, so their attitude towards the areas they did occupy was one of complete destruction. The soldiers looted cities, stuffing their pockets with valuables, dragged wives and daughters from citizens’ homes, killed anyone they didn’t like on sight, massacred those who dared resist, and then hung the bodies on the streets as a show of power, just like any marauding army would do.

At that time, they took pleasure in listening to the weeping of the weak, arbitrarily arresting and executing islanders, reaffirming Blackfire Innovation’s declaration: "Victory is Power."

But now, they dared not enter the information control room; behind that door must be monsters.

The soldiers were disheartened, moving back along the dark metallic corridor, planning to head for the barracks or evacuation station.

Their rubber boots clanked against the metal floor, the metal fasteners of their uniforms rubbed together, and their weapons collided. As they approached the intersection of corridors, they saw several fresh corpses around, and their movements came to an abrupt halt.

"There are enemies..." the soldiers murmured anxiously.

Rinne, hearing their approach, had hung upside down from the ceiling of the corridor, out of their line of sight. She reached down and rapidly shot out a green monomolecular wire from her arm.

It moved through the air like a venomous snake, secretive and sharp like a sleeve dagger, but much faster and more flexible; it sliced through their throats in a blink, killing three; then, she followed up by throwing knives, killing two more.

Blood burst forth.

Leaving behind the bodies of these five soldiers, Rinne swiftly entered the information control room.

Masasuke Hazuki was guarding the door; all the Blackfire network security personnel were dead, along with the corpses of several officers and assault team soldiers—a bloody spectacle.

Rinne dragged the technician’s body from the chair, sat in front of the control terminal, issued command after command, entered codes, injected a virus program, attempting to seize control of the entire base.

"The Baraya is dispatching assault teams to retake the base." Rinne saw the rapidly exchanging streams of information from the data module.

"Reinforcements from the enemy?" Masasuke Hazuki frowned.

He thought of the Invisible Imperial Guard; the situation would be extremely tricky if just one of them arrived, their combat prowess was frightening.

"Yes... they’re almost here!" Rinne quickly pressed buttons, trying to take control of one anti-aircraft weapon after another, attempting to intercept them, but it was too late.

Four heavy military Shuttle Machines landed in the center of the base; they came from the Baraya, trying to recover the Sato City military base.

"I’ll go take them out." Masasuke Hazuki turned and left.

"The guns and turrets along the way will become our allies; I’ll help you carve out a path!" Rinne shouted.

Masasuke Hazuki ran outside, and sure enough, sounds of rhythmic firing from small-caliber machine guns could be heard everywhere, along with the cries of Black Fire Soldiers being hit, as trusted machine gun towers instantly turned into deadly killers—a bitter pill to swallow.

"Head to the courtyard!" Masasuke Hazuki shouted in the squad communication channel, marking it on their indicators.

A999, after digging out Matteo’s controller and data storage chip, took its knife, quickly stood up, and sprinted to the open space at the center of the base.

The area was quite large, apparently designed to accommodate space motherships.

Lu Jing, wielding the precious sword Four Points True Gold, had just defeated a group of Blackfire robots using a thunder talisman and, hearing the order, also immediately set out.

Seeing Shadow received the orders, merely lurking in the shadows, ready to strike.

Upon reaching the courtyard, they discovered at least 200 people rushing down from the four Shuttle Machines, including 4 Invisible Imperial Guards and 1 Battle Witch.

Such forces were overwhelmingly powerful against the Disciple Squad.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Concealed gun turrets rose around the open area, firing incessantly at the Shuttle Machines, bullets raining on the armor of these war machines and also mercilessly reaping the lives of soldiers, causing the squad members to secretly cheer.

But in moments, the Invisible Imperial Guards each identified their targets and opened fire.
