Chapter 514 - 452 Siege
Chapter 514: Chapter 452 Siege
After recovering, Wei Shiyue had reached the battlefield.
Intercepting the warship was a top priority. Wei Shiyue dove down from the clouds to intimidate. The Dragon attacked from above while the Battle Witch launched a sneak attack from below, which for the cumbersome Yokozuna, were both extremely difficult to deal with, far more than any weapon strike.
In the bridge command room, the officers of the Yokozuna wore grave expressions.
"New Xisheng is losing ground, Shangjing faces a severe threat," the deputy captain whispered, "The Yokozuna might be able to defeat the enemies from above and below, but if Shangjing falls and the management surrenders, what would our efforts mean then?"
The captain looked down at the map.
There was a chance. If the Yokozuna could withstand the attack of these two beasts, it could threaten Anjiu City, bombarding the domestic industries of the Nestor Corporation over and over until Lila Nestor could no longer bear the losses.
Retreat was not an option. The captain raised his head and swept his gaze over his colleagues.
Every space mothership had its own history and traditions, close to a service contract with the company. The captain and crew lived and died with the entire warship, following it through transactions between different companies.
Many people never left the ship for their entire lives, with the ship carrying the honor of all crew members. Having served Kyoto Infinity with merit for twenty years, it now also had to prove its honor to the New Xisheng Group.
"History will remember the brave," the captain said calmly, "We advance towards Anjiu City."
The deputy captain saluted him.
Then he turned to the officers and swung his hand forcefully.
"Yokozuna, advance!" he ordered.
"Yes!" the officers roared in unison.
The Yokozuna had never backed down on the battlefield, it should charge like a sumo wrestler, unstoppable!
As Wei Shiyue dove down, high-caliber guns on the Yokozuna’s island opened fire on her, with a firepower unmatched by traditional ships. The shrill whistles of missile launches formed a barrage, incessantly intercepting her movements. Such a dense net of fire was enough to block Wei Shiyue, keeping her from getting close enough for the Dragon’s fiery breath.
Black smoke billowed in the sky, Wei Shiyue could only hover at a distance, trying to find angles beyond the reach of gunfire.
Facing the dual threat of the Witch and the Dragon, the Yokozuna remained unimpeded, resolutely moving forward.
Pan Ruiyi was secretly alarmed, the defense of the warship was terrifyingly formidable; her attacks were almost like harassment, utterly unable to penetrate its armor!
If this continued, the Yokozuna would indeed become a fish that slipped through the net, reaching Anjiu City in one go. In which case, they would have to pull people from the front line, and even have Farosa come back to deal with it.
"They want to fight us to the end!" Pan Ruiyi saw the hangar doors of the Yokozuna open, and shouted over the communication channel to Wei Shiyue, "—I’ll block the doors, we can’t let the fighters launch... you find a way to burn the front!"
Watching the Yokozuna continue to fly steadfastly over the sea, inching closer to Anjiu City, Wei Shiyue also felt anxious, as fragile Anjiu City could not withstand the bombardment of the warship.
She let out a loud roar to show she understood, then charged toward the rear of the ship, ready to start the burning there.
She would not let it get close to Anjiu City!
...
At 10 a.m., the Nestor Corporation’s offensive had temporarily slowed, currently surrounding most of the industrial areas and satellite residential cities in the southern suburbs of Shangjing, forming a pincer movement.
The Elite Soldiers were endless and invincible, and the Nestor military maintained high morale, but they had run out of bullets and had to wait for the next batch of supplies before they could continue the assault.
Lila received the news that the Yokozuna had appeared from the sea, rapidly closing in on Anjiu City, giving her the impulse for a quick resolution. Should the headquarters be attacked, the losses would be extremely heavy.
But urban warfare was a daunting challenge, with a large number of neutral businesses in Shangjing, they had to carefully plan the route of the advance to avoid disputes. These businesses hadn’t troubled anyone and had even shown goodwill to the Nestor Corporation in advance, with salesmen in place offering the company’s latest products. However, all they wanted to know was where the enemy was.
"Where’s the enemy!" Elite Soldiers in commandeered infantry armor vehicles rumbled through District 32 of Shangjing’s Seya Boulevard, displeased with the delay in the advance, eager to reach the battle positions quickly.
Vehicles crushed iron scrap and plastic on the streets, a strong wind swept past, hitting the armored panels with the sound of fluttering debris.
"The sky is so high," Asa Katsuragi popped the hatch of the machine gun position and poked her head out.
"There’s quite the view here, lady," an Elite Soldier said casually, "accompanied by the smell of gasoline bombs burning in the early morning, plus the crackle of overloaded circuits. You should have seen our company’s battle achievements yesterday, the ’Inugami’ can now enter the elimination recycling sequence."
Bang!
A bullet shot out from a window of a neighboring building, hitting the forehead of the Elite Soldier, leaving a dent in its alloy frame. But the Elite Soldier was unfazed, immediately raising its hand and spraying a volley back at the window.
"Enemy!" the Elite Soldier shouted, entering combat mode.
Even more excited than it was the Katsuragi Gang Personal Guard carried in the vehicle; they howled as they rushed out, aiming to throw grenades through the windows where the attackers had appeared.
"Get back, let me handle this!" Asa Katsuragi crawled out of the armored vehicle, lifting her right arm and launching her modified wrist like a grappling hook, snagging it on the steel railing beside the window. The steel cable retracted, pulling her body from the vehicle to the window.
She bent the iron bars with her arm, saw a girl inside who was terrified, then squeezed through the warped bars to get inside and grabbed her.
