Chapter 512: Chapter 450: Tilt_2
At the thought of 101’s fragility, she immediately grabbed 101’s soft arm and infused her with life force.
had already been half-dead from the impact, and was now hovering on the threshold of life and death. Sally’s emerald life magic swirled around 101, channeling surges of life force that gradually reclaimed each inch of her vital ground.
Lying on the ground waiting for death, 101 had been shot, and like Sally, had many bones broken. Though Sally was in better shape, she was also covered in blood.
They were in a desolate place, with the Chika Island looming above their heads, tilting and wobbling toward the distant ground. When it hit the ground, it made a horrifying loud noise, and must have been severely damaged!
Sally lay on the ground panting, as the emergence of life force was a complex magic. Overuse could lead to muscle hyperplasia, creating frightening monsters, so she had to constantly control the dosage.
She held 101 in her arms like a little rat, sending out calls into the wilderness.
Her calls soon brought the Ratmen who lived in the wilderness.
They were extremely timid yet inherently curious, dressed in tattered clothes. They hurried over, staring in amazement at the super-large Rat Deity they had never seen before, disrupted by the high-ranking pheromones emanating from Sally.
"Help, help!"
"Someone’s hurt!"
"Ratmen, come here!" The little rats quickly came to help Sally, who stood up. 101 lay in her arms with eyes tightly shut, her face pale. Sally quickly took 101 to the Ratmen’s den, hiding deep within the secluded forest.
Lila detected their crash site and arrived in her shuttle machine. The filthy local Ratmen had lived in seclusion and had never seen such an imposition, busily pointing and commenting on everything.
"The Chika Island has fallen; they can’t fix it soon. It’s bound to be out of the war," Lila looked at the seriously injured 101, "You did it."
"Don’t tell 102." 101 felt joy in completing the mission, but was still dazed, barely conscious. She was dying, feeling herself breaking apart bit by bit.
Sally kept pouring a steady trickle of life force into 101, not paying much attention to her own injuries. 101 was far more fragile than Sally.
"Can I rest..." 101 looked at Lila tiredly.
"Don’t worry," Lila nodded.
then looked at Farosa, who crouched on the ground, caressing her cheek, making 101 feel a strange sense of comfort.
Upon hearing that the Chika Island had captured 101 using a guiding barrier, Farosa pondered while caring for 101, realizing that someone within the company had systematically compiled practical mysticism experiences. Besides the Corporate Alliance, who else could achieve all this?
Elsewhere, in the Shangjing combat command room, Tenjouin Kiriyari discussed plans with Minamoto Makoto.
"So the warships will bomb the outskirts of Shangjing in sequence, followed by the Nestor Factory on the outskirts of Anjiu City," Tenjouin Kiriyari indicated on the strategic map, "With the Chika Island for long-range support, the Orochi as the main combat platform, and the Yokozuna as the secret weapon, targeting their soft underbelly at the crucial moment."
"Indeed," Minamoto Makoto nodded, "After sunrise, the initiative will be back in our hands."
It was very close, extremely close. Tenjouin Kiriyari thought quietly. To turn the tide, let the fleet unleash its strength. Once air superiority was seized, no matter how many "Elite Soldiers" there were, they would just be mechanical targets awaiting annihilation, while the Nestor Corporation’s troops’ movements were all within the surveillance satellites’ control.
Minamoto Makoto, whose heart had hung in suspense all night, finally relaxed. She secretly guessed that the Ancient Witch must now have ascended to be the Witch Goddess and was currently waging war upon them. Yet even a goddess had to rely on the support of mortal forces, and once defeated on the battlefield, she wondered what the Witch Goddess would think.
News soon arrived that the Chika Island was under attack.
"Our trap has caught the target—," the communications officer reported, within half a minute gathering massive amounts of information, "Chika Island has quickly lost contact, and now—now the ship’s body is experiencing strong electromagnetic interference and has been forced to make an emergency landing on an unnamed highland in the eastern suburbs, fearing it won’t arrive on time!"
"When can it take off again?" Tenjouin Kiriya pressed, "What about the fighters?"
"Many compartments suffered damage during the landing," the communicator said tensely, "They are undergoing emergency repairs, but are likely to miss the battle operation."
In this race against time on the battlefield, Chika Island had been shot down! Tenjouin Kiriya had endured a tortuous night and was emotionally strained to accept it, but still forced himself to continue planning. He had never felt such bitterness; the war was as grueling as being mired in quicksand.
A tough problem lay before Tenjouin Kiriya.
Should he still send the Orochi into battle?
Without the Witch’s breath of death, Chika Island had already suffered such heavy damage, what about Orochi?
After all, Orochi was the private property and treasure of the Tenjouin Family. Holding the Orochi, they were the magnates and warlords of the Northern Archipelago. If it were damaged or lost in war, the Tenjouin Family could not only be eliminated by Nestor Corporation but may also be backstabbed and swallowed by New Xisheng! The same went for Tenjouin Zina; if Zina encountered danger...
Minamoto Makoto kept his eyes fixed on Kiriya.
"Send the Yokozuna to attack the homeland of Anjiu City," Tenjouin Kiriya ordered and then settled back at the command desk. The frequency of attacks by Synthetic Humans on Shangjing City was ramping up; maybe it was an illusion, but he felt gunfire was very, very close.
Minamoto Makoto walked out onto the outside corridor, where "Ghost Warrior," an agent of the Corporate Alliance, stood with his back against the wall.
"How did it go?" he asked.
"The magic formulae you provided were effective; we really caught the enemy’s Witch," Minamoto Makoto said, watching him intently.
"But it didn’t prevent the fall of Chika Island," the Ghost Warrior mused, "I heard it was because an electric rat sneaked into the ship. There was once a Rat Witch who used electromagnetic power to plunge Aizu City into a massive blackout; don’t know if it’s the same one."
"Perhaps," Minamoto Makoto pondered, "The Corporate Alliance indeed has the capacity to target Witches; I need more power like that."
"That’s external help, merely a crafty means that can only assist," the Ghost Warrior reminded, "If you can’t prevail in fleet combat, no amount of barriers will save New Xisheng."
"So you can’t help?"
"Uh, could you arrange a shuttle machine for me to leave? I’d like to go back to Greeny City."
"You stay here," Minamoto Makoto ordered, "Don’t flee when battle looms; the Corporate Alliance doesn’t wish for a ’Witch Goddess’ to grow powerful in the Northern Archipelago, either. I hope you’ll show your strength in protecting Shangjing’s process."
"As you wish," the Ghost Warrior shrugged, "In my view, we stand as the last tall wall between humans and the ’Witch Goddess’."
"May fortune in war be with you," Minamoto Makoto nodded, then returned to the war command room.
The Ghost Warrior walked over to the window, looking at the thriving Shangjing; it was morning already, and during the startling night, New Xisheng Group had several claws chopped off. Even the strongest beast, without weapons to retaliate, is left with just flesh and blood to take a beating.
The cold-hearted and ruthless Witch Goddess and the justice-upholding Mrs. Lila Nestor had incredibly come together and were even cooperating with each other. The Ghost Warrior could not fathom it. So, what kind of force had united them?
