Chapter 305 - 276: Attack on Xylophia
Chapter 305: Chapter 276: Attack on Xylophia
"Are you sure?" Lila asked, displeased, "In these special times, you’re investing resources to seize your godslayer weapon?"
"Yes, at any cost," Farosa maintained her inscrutable smile, "Now go get ready. I’ll soon inform you to join my battle."
Under Farosa’s command, Lila somehow began to lean towards obedience as if possessed.
She needed Farosa to become stronger because she had previously refused the summons to battle, her relationship with both Nestor Corporation and Asa Katsuragi’s new Aizu security, as well as with Kyoto Infinity, had significantly deteriorated.
They needed enough strength.
Farosa incarnate as a god, the Witch Division, the giant monster Clares the Second, the Shuttle Machine Cluster, The Flying Birds Group... all these armed forces would aid them in bargaining with Kyoto Infinity, and if exaggerated, capturing the Martinez would mean more than just holding their own against Kyoto Infinity, it would even be possible to launch an offensive!
Lila nodded slightly and left the industrial park, her sniper rifle on her back, to collect the necessary combat gear.
Farosa stood in place, her back to the entrance of the industrial park, standing on the brass-latticed corridor, her expression shifting constantly, now gloomy, now revealing a sinister smile.
Having seen how her own mother was driven insane by a man’s torment, Farosa realized a profound truth: if one does not harm others, one will be harmed. The silent suffer, and the weak are exploited, so she needed to retrieve the godslayer weapon she once wielded, her most important, most powerful, and most favored weapon.
Xylophia is a good person. Farosa thought coldly. She had handed the godslayer weapon to her, hoping Xylophia would keep it safe. She hadn’t lied or failed in her duty, perfectly preserving the weapon to this day, like a dream that had traversed centuries to arrive and hadn’t turned to dust of history but had palpably come to this city.
So, it was necessary to kill her and take the godslayer weapon back.
Few could gain Farosa’s trust. Only Xu Yang had crossed that line, Xylophia was nowhere close. They were close, but how could witches ever truly trust one another? Moreover, with the passage of time, who knew what had changed?
Besides seizing the godslayer weapon, Farosa had no other choice.
She closed her eyes and remembered the old, beautiful times when the Chaos Witches partied and reveled. All night long, they had no sense of time, thoroughly enjoying the status and position that came with magic power. Even the ancient Witch Council had to yield to this group of Chaos Witches.
But the witches were suspicious of each other, much like how Farosa couldn’t trust anyone. Other witches didn’t have the tradition of opening up to her, and eventually, Farosa left on her own, fearing a betrayal from within.
But... really have to kill Xylophia?
Did this mean she had lost her sanity? To kill her "friend"? To kill a witch who had been very friendly to her, who had even written poems for her.
She felt frightened.
Farosa picked up her phone, checking the signal. The network modules in both the industrial park and Shijin Mansion were functioning normally, connected to each other.
"Do I sound normal?" she contacted Xu Yang, "My voice, do I sound normal? Have I gone insane?"
"Everything is normal," Xu Yang knew there had to be a reason for her to speak this way and played along with her peculiar questions.
"I want to kill my friend," Farosa said softly, "I want to kill a friend who has helped me, I want to destroy her. Do I still sound normal now? Am I being unreasonable? Tell me."
"As long as you can be honest with yourself, that’s all that matters."
"... Honest..."
"Don’t lie to yourself, Farosa," Xu Yang emphasized, "Whether you are going mad, whether you truly want to kill Xylophia... you already have the answers in your heart. After going through so much, you are clear about your nature; all you need to do is be honest with yourself, don’t deceive yourself."
"You always know what I want to hear, I love you," Farosa leaned against the railing of the corridor, by her feet was a wide storage basin, dark and fathomless.
"I love you too," Xu Yang said sincerely, "So, are you really going to move against Xylophia?"
"Her magic power just disappeared," Farosa murmured, "She can be killed."
"Where do the disappeared go? Can they still live?"
"A mysterious space. It doesn’t matter for inanimate objects," Farosa closed her eyes and recalled, "If it’s a living being, it cannot survive in that area, it would be killed instantly, turning into pus or some vile gelatinous substance. So if we were to battle with Xylophia, the biggest challenge would be, by all means, not to be caught by the vanishing magic power."
"Be careful."
"I understand, I will contact you before the fight starts."
After hanging up, Farosa spun around and, reminded by Xu Yang, she was clear about everything.
She hadn’t gone mad. She very lucidly wanted to kill Xylophia, for Xylophia had in her possession the godslayer weapon and was powerful. As a Chaos Witch who had also survived to this day, Farosa would not allow herself to be replaced by someone else’s uniqueness.
There could only be one Chaos Witch from 1000 years ago who lived to this day, not another.
Farosa turned around, looking towards the entrance of the industrial park. Chainsaw Angel stood there, her expression like that of a warrior ready for execution, prepared for death, just waiting for the command to be given.
"What are you doing standing there?" Farosa sneered, "Little dog?"
"The desire for life has overcome my pride," Chainsaw Angel kneeled on the ground, wings closed, voluntarily becoming a caged bird, submitting to Farosa, "I only ask for the bare minimum of dignity. Please let me live, and I will fight for your cause."
"My next plan just happens to need you," Farosa said darkly, "Go. I believe someone has found your chainsaw. Bring it along, we have a real battle to fight."
With the current Farosa, the Witch Division, alongside the assistance of Lila, Sally, and the Chainsaw Angel, even if Xylophia is a formidable Supreme Witch, there’s no chance she’ll survive.
"Time to plan your death, Xylophia. Your incomprehensible disappearance magic power will also be shattered," Farosa thought silently. No matter what elaborate trap Xylophia has set up now, Farosa was ready to take back what belonged to her.
Elsewhere, Xylophia lay drowsy on a sofa on the top floor of a tower-like office at the end of the Colosseum Arena.
She was alone, not wishing to go anywhere else. The city outside, blasted into ruins, and the pervasive smoke seemed irrelevant to her. Her eyelids felt heavy; every now and then, she’d barely open her eyes to check if the Godslayer Weapon in the center of the room was intact.
She was still waiting for Farosa and her friends to come and take the weapon. She had to pass on this gift that spanned a millennium to fulfill the promise before she was willing to face her own death.
A40 quietly pushed the door and came in, seeing Xylophia lying there at an angle.
"Ah," A40 cried out, "this place is too dangerous! We must leave, Miss Witch!"
"You have no right to speak to me," Xylophia said tiredly, "I’m waiting for Farosa. Will she come?"
"I don’t know, the signal is bad!" A40 was very distressed, "It seems all the nearby stations have been blasted! The Blackfire Assault Squad is attacking here too! Gunfights have broken out! It’s very troublesome! Are you familiar with the people from Blackfire?"
"...I’ll make the enemies disappear," Xylophia closed her eyes, "...I want to wait for Farosa... I want to see her... see her boyfriend..."
"Disappear?" A40 pondered, "Can the things you’ve made disappear be released by you again?"
"Of course," Xylophia sighed, "after all... it’s my own magic power..."
Xylophia spoke too slowly for A40’s liking who found witches a troublesome lot, promptly running downstairs to join the other arena warriors.
Among the powerful samurai who had participated in the Colosseum’s battle festival, all but Yanagawa Fumihiko, who had left to protect Honma Noriko, had gathered together to protect the corporate executives who had come to watch the event.
These members of the corporate management, each earning a minimum annual salary surpassing 500,000, dressed in fine clothing and looking dignified, were affiliated with well-known enterprises such as Ultimate Technology, Pioneer Armed Forces, Jura Chemistry, Star Ring Technology, and more. They had brought their corporate warriors to participate in the competition, and due to the sudden outbreak of war, they were trapped within the Colosseum Arena.
These management figures always valued their security, had decided to join forces, and had gathered their guards and samurai for protection. Nonetheless, the atmosphere inside the room was tense as they were besieged and threatened by air raids and Phase Demons.
"Have you heard?" one senior manager exclaimed in surprise, "A hacker broke into an auxiliary computer room of Century Pure Land and deleted millions of backup resident tracking records!"
"Must be the doings of rebels and freelance hackers again," reflected another portly businessman with a blue tie, "But they’re easier to deal with. After all, idealists eventually become corrupt, whereas armed soldiers are about to burst in and kill us now. It’s time for us to leave!"
"Sir," the advanced combat robot Galatite warned, "it would be very dangerous to leave now. We ’samurai’ are strong in battle, but you may get injured by stray bullets, explosives, or the complex electromagnetic environment."
A40 turned to leave but was suddenly stopped by a wealthy freelance investor in the venue.
"Hey, robot," he said, "didn’t you use your blade to make Galatite disappear before? But then it came back safe and sound."
"Right," Galatite realized this advantage, "before, this robot A40 ’collected’ me into a mysterious space. It was very spacious and wide, surely enough to accommodate everyone present here."
"Cut me with the blade and see," the investor was curious and extended his right hand towards A40, "I want to know what kind of mysterious space it is."
"Let me try." A40 touched him with the blade, and in an instant, the man was captured by magic power and disappeared into the thin air.
"Eh—"
"That’s terrifying!"
"He really disappeared!" The rest of the businessmen and commercial elites were equally impressed.
Due to various limitations, the magic power of most witches remained at the Cub Level for life, with some never awakening before living out their days in mediocrity. The stunning effects of magic power relied on a few witches with exceptional talent, and the disappearance magic power at hand was amongst the most miraculous.
A40 wasn’t concerned about this; its focus remained on the fiery Blackfire invasion outside. There wasn’t much time left as the Black Fire Assault Squad members had already begun to sweep the periphery of the Colosseum Arena. If they were to stay put, who knows how many threats they would encounter!
"Can we safely come out after being disappeared?" another man asked.
"Yes," A40 recalled the words of Xylophia, and since Galatite was unharmed, "You’ve been delayed here too long; I’ll take everyone away first, then we’ll break out directly, head to the airport, and then have the witch release you."
"Ah..."
"If we stay behind..."
"Disappear..." They were hesitant, but the constant rumbling of the ground prompted them to make a decision.
"Let’s do it; we must leave Anjiu City," one of them nodded somberly.
A40, with a blade for each person, took away the 20 managers, senior executives, and professional investors present with the disappearance magic power.
"Good! Now unencumbered, let’s all break out!" A40 raised its blade high, beckoning the other warriors from the festival to break out of the siege together. It longed for battle, eager to fight the powerful from Blackfire Innovation.
The wealthy individuals would have to wait inside the blade for a while, A40 thought secretly.
