Chapter 304 - 275: Blood-Red Ocean Descendant
Chapter 304: Chapter 275: Blood-Red Ocean Descendant
Upon arrival in Aizu City, Farosa immediately rushed towards the Rat Witch.
Lila oversaw their meeting, and Farosa made no attempt to hide her joy, growing more and more interested in Sally’s current state.
Gods are projections, illusions.
In ancient times, mighty beings that walked the earth were revered by many, and these ideals converged upon the worshipped, forming an illusion.
The illusion and essence gradually fused, eventually becoming indistinguishable, just as a monkey dons new clothes. Although it remains a gussied-up monkey, it gains actual power, and in time, it merges with its original self. Some become one, some replace others, some are replaced...
Just like Sally, she certainly didn’t look like this before. The Sally of now is tall, fluffy, and valiant. What happened to the tiny Rat Witch who was skinny and small, with black skin and yellow eyes, glaring at the camera?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sally was afraid of Farosa’s gaze; she felt like a big watermelon out in the field, and Farosa seemed very thirsty.
"You have completely changed," Farosa said happily. "You used to be much cuter."
"Their calls are always echoing in my heart," Sally confessed, feeling lost. "They want me to save them, to bring them out of the sewers and burrows, and I respond to each Ratman’s call. Every time I respond, I change a little."
"Don’t serve them; they will only disappoint you," Farosa tempted gently. "Let them offer up all their resources to you. They’ll find their own food when they’re hungry."
"They hardly have anything to give me," Sally lamented. "They are my kin, it’s my responsibility, I should..."
"There is never responsibility or things that need to be done," Farosa whispered. "Those are illusions, means to enslave you. Trust your own needs, give in to your own cravings. Don’t let yourself become unrecognizable for the sake of the many, look at how the Ratmen’s fantasies have made you so ugly."
"I... ugly?" Sally was bewildered. Her face had grown pointed, her tail sprouted spines, her body was hunched, and her teeth sharp. But she had never thought of herself as ugly because isn’t that how a rat is supposed to look?
"It’s alright," Farosa reassured her, "despite being ugly, I still like you because you are a unique individual among witches. Come, let me teach you how to use your new power."
"Do you think I’m ugly?" Sally turned to Lila, who had been silently observing.
"I don’t know." Lila also thought the current Sally wasn’t good-looking, but she couldn’t say it.
Back in the industrial park, Farosa instructed Sally on how to fuse Divine Power with Magic Power, a transcendently mysterious combination.
Magic Power was stored within the Magic Circuit of the body, while Divine Power resided within the soul. Sally could clearly feel these two distinct forces, vastly different in nature.
But... they could combine. Under Farosa’s guidance, Sally joined these two powers together.
In an instant, as if wires had been crossed and sparks ignited, the moment Magic Power and Divine Power touched, an overload of energy burst forth, causing Sally’s body to tremble violently.
"It’s... It’s going to explode!" Sally cried out, bracing herself against the ground with her powerful tail.
Lila saw light emanating from under Sally’s skin. Sally was like a transparent balloon stuffed with lightbulbs. Dark green light and leaping pale lightning were weaving together, producing a disturbing and terrifying noise.
"She’s going to die!" Lila immediately ordered Farosa to stop.
"But if she withstands it, she will..." Farosa smiled.
Bang!
Sally’s body was torn to shreds by the swelling energy, leaving a mass of indistinguishable flesh and splattered blood in the middle of the area.
Farosa raised her hand and released the Law of Recovery; Sally was instantly restored but lay curled on the ground, her tail twitching, in immense pain.
"What have you done?" Lila frowned. "I won’t allow you to torture her like this."
"She has awakened, this is the fastest way," Farosa murmured.
Of course, there was also an element of amusement for her.
Sally’s eyes blazed with divine fire, panting, she instinctively merged Divine Power with Magic Power again after being restored, but this time it was much more stable than before. She innately realized she had made a mistake last time and successfully avoided the wrong method.
Now the two powers supported each other, making the Divine Power more refined and extensive, capable of bolstering the release of Magic Power so it could be used more frequently. Magic Power held its unique qualities, allowing her to manifest the abstract Divine Power in a more concrete way.
"Come." Farosa led her deeper into the industrial park. "I know a place that’s perfect for displaying your enhanced power; you will help me end this disaster."
The memory of being blasted to pieces was still fresh in Sally’s mind, and she followed Farosa with trepidation, almost starting to see Farosa as the leader.
"Don’t be afraid, come to me." Lila, worried that Sally might be dominated by Farosa, took the initiative to take Sally’s hand, or rather, paw.
"..." Sally remained silent, her gaze still fixed on Farosa.
"You can’t stop me," Farosa looked back at Lila with a smile.
"I don’t need to stop you," Lila said with a look of disdain. "You are not perfect, and your own imperfections will ultimately lead to your downfall."
"No," Farosa whispered. "I’m more perfect now than ever before."
Upon arriving at the appointed location by Farosa, the reservoir and dock at the bottom of the industrial park, strong Ocean Descendants were frolicking in the vast seawater. Sensing Farosa’s approach, they immediately surrounded her, emitting excited howls.
These Ocean Descendants were the offspring of the Ancient God, Orcian. Ever since Farosa committed deicide and consumed the divine, her being carried a strong essence of the divine, which in turn was revered by these descendants with their weak bloodlines.
"It’s you," Farosa pointed to one of the red-scaled Ocean Descendants.
"Awoo!" This Ocean Descendant climbed onto the shore, letting out a hoarse roar.
Previously, when rescuing Yan Duo and as the Innovation was shattered, Farosa had ordered all Ocean Descendants to search for the wreckage of the Innovation. While the others were dull and clueless, only this Ocean Descendant managed to find the fragments in time. Since then, she had taken notice of this creature and decided to take special care of it.
"Mix your enhancement magic power with divine power and then bestow it upon it," Farosa stroked the red Ocean Descendant’s head.
"... I’ll try," Sally said, calming her mind.
She began to meld the two different systems of power, gathering the divine power formed of the fantasies and even delusions of countless Ratmen, along with her own magic power. After fusion, they ignited like kindling in a blaze, their might amplified.
And then... released!
The divine-infused magic power pierced through this Ocean Descendant, green glows swirling around it as its body rapidly enlarged. Originally no more than 3 to 4 meters in length, about the size of a small car, it now grew immensely, its muscles bulging, skeletal frame expanding, reaching a length of 10 meters.
"Stop," Farosa told Sally to halt.
"Roar!" The enlarged Ocean Descendant bellowed, the thunderous sound capable of overpowering the noise on the ground. Still unaccustomed to its newly powerful and enlarged body, it began to retrain its own limbs, struggling and flailing constantly.
"The Crimson Prince," Farosa’s lips curled into a smile, "it’s still not enough."
She gave it a kick, driving it back into the water to swim towards the sea outside the industrial park. It moved in the deep sea where, now much larger than its previously bigger siblings, they quickly kept their distance, not daring to trouble its presence.
"Continue," Farosa urged Sally, "I need to command it to crush Yama; it has to be big enough, even bigger."
"I’ll try," Sally also wanted to know what kind of miracle would happen after her magic power and divine power were mixed.
The Law of Recovery!
Outside the glass dome that separated the industrial park from the sea, the Ocean Descendant’s body continued to surge, furious growth erupting, becoming colossal. It thrashed and roared in the sea, causing tsunamis and vortexes, its body swelling to 60 meters in length—almost enough to destroy the industrial park in one ramming!
"Huff... Huff..." Sally collapsed on the ground, her divine power exhausted. She felt like a dry well, unable to draw forth anything more.
"Look, my dear little Rat, this is what you’re capable of," Farosa, with hands on Sally’s shoulders, forced her to look up and lock eyes with her, "You’re very tired because your divine power is depleted. Now, you need to broadcast again, to harvest the desires of the Ratmen so that your divine power can gradually recover. Move out now."
Taking a deep breath, Sally watched as Farosa walked away.
"Do you really want to be Farosa’s next pet?" Lila frowned and observed.
"Pet? She... she didn’t say anything wrong," Sally murmured softly.
Farosa approached the glass, making eye contact with the gigantic Ocean Descendant.
Its growth was exceedingly excessive, and due to being nourished by the magic power soaked in divine essence, it had even acquired a portion of divinity, appearing more ferocious and swift, truly a mythological being, if one neglected the aberrant Rat hair on its limbs.
"Come," Farosa muttered, "I name you in the style of the Ancient Sea Kin: Clares the Second. You are the rebirth of the Ancient Sea Kin in this era. In the past, you were among the most powerful servants of the gods; now you are my most loyal beloved."
Clare the Second swam in the sea, emitting deep and low-frequency roars, an absolute sovereign of the deep sea.
"Go and fight for your clan’s chief," Farosa pointed to the surface of the sea, "there, in the city, lies my enemy; devour it."
"Roar!" Clares the Second swam upwards, its body swiftly emerging from the sea.
Shocking!
The third-party media companies, hovering in helicopters above the city, were observing the distant views of the city on fire, filming from above the terrifying figure of Yama, when they suddenly caught sight of an enormous blood-scaled sea monster climbing ashore from the harbor, with a clear target—it was heading straight for Yama!
"What’s happening!"
"Look! The largest Ocean Descendant ever recorded, at least 50 meters long?"
"It’s fighting Yama! Who will win!"
Yama, having devoured countless souls in the city, witnessed the large and furious challenger climbing towards it from the shore and let out a terrifying roar.
Long ago, back in ancient times, Yama had fought with monsters from the deep sea, and now faced with such a challenge again, it readied its evil light cannon in its mouth to annihilate this rash Ocean Descendant once and for all.
"Can your precious pet beat Yama?" Lila questioned.
"I want it to fight a few rounds with Yama, to weaken its combat strength. It has absorbed a lot of souls, not as easy to deal with as before," Farosa smiled, "And us... come on, Lila, help me retrieve the Godslayer Weapon from the Colosseum, will you?"
