Chapter 222: Chapter 197 Supreme Battle
"Yan Duo!" It felt pain, and even more so, a life-threatening danger.
So it forcefully grasped Dilnai, yanking her along with her spear out from atop its head, and then clenched its fist, attempting to strangle Dilnai. But she vanished in an instant from Yan Duo’s palm, effortlessly soaring in the sky, flapping her wings like countless overlapping phantoms, making it hard for Yan Duo to distinguish.
She realized what Yan Duo was wary of, and immediately began to spin her long spear, summoning even more terrifying beams of light, bombarding the retreating Innovation. Terrified, it ran over immediately, turning into a blaze of intense light, blocking Dilnai’s attacks. The wounds from the malicious thoughts that couldn’t heal accumulated more and more on Yan Duo’s body.
It let out a painful howl as its body was sliced into shambles.
Hold on, Yan Duo! Farosa couldn’t help cursing inwardly. Which other Mystic was more useful to command than you, and which one was as foolish as you? How could you die here? Do something useful, drive Dilnai back!
No matter how much Farosa wished for it, Yan Duo was still looking very ragged under Dilnai’s assault. Over centuries, Yan Duo’s power had steadily weakened, while Dilnai had grown stronger and stronger.
Dilnai still had enough strength to wave her weapon towards the sky, summoning thirteen dark purple lightning bolts. They surged towards the heavens, splitting instantaneously and forming a net of power that blocked prying eyes, rendering all electronic devices, satellites, and detectors unable to detect the actual situation on the field, making it convenient for Dilnai to move around freely.
"Yan Duo is at a disadvantage," Farosa had to admit. "I don’t want to confront Dilnai. Since the gods left us, among the many Mystics... she is one of the few with the greatest competitive edge. She wants to come and kill me, to seize the power of the gods. I can’t die at this time."
"It considers us friends," Xu Yang could understand the sorrowful voice of Yan Duo, "If we can buy it some time, it can absorb more sunlight to make a counterattack."
Farosa clenched her fists.
A fight to the death.
The Law of Recovery was quick to activate, and could be used for self-preservation. Taking lives had no use for the moment; Dilnai could easily dodge, her speed was too fast.
"First, restore the seawater." Farosa exerted all her effort, trying to gather the dispersed seawater around— the thick ocean could form the best cover and buffer zone.
Now, the sea had been parted by Dilnai’s power, and Yan Duo stood on the seabed, barely enduring the oppression from Dilnai, without any strength left to counterattack or move.
"Let’s get closer, to draw her attention," Xu Yang said, "So Yan Duo doesn’t need to worry about us."
"It’s too dangerous," Farosa frowned. "Dilnai’s attacks pose an infinite threat."
"If we don’t do this, then this expedition is a waste, and we can only watch Yan Duo get killed. And even if we are shattered, we can regenerate using the Law of Recovery," Xu Yang reasoned.
"I’ll avoid the trajectory." Lila switched Innovation from diving mode to flying mode, breaking through the wall-like seawater like a red comet, flying towards the battling Yan Duo and Dilnai.
Dilnai’s primary target was of course Farosa, and seeing her come towards them, relaxed the pressure on Yan Duo and turned to prepare for destroying Farosa.
"Yan Duo, don’t help us block the attacks, focus on recovering yourself," Farosa communicated to Yan Duo in her mind.
"Yan Duo!" It staggered, flying high into the sky, and entered a state like a sphere of light, absorbing sunlight from the entire world to heal itself.
Dilnai extended a finger towards Innovation, a dark portal leading to her domain opened behind her. The corrupted orchard and pathways vaguely visible in the background, from which hundreds of dark purple thunder spears were summoned, storming towards Innovation.
Lila spread out her Magic Power perception, precisely calculating the trajectory of each weapon, and Innovation spun rapidly, threading through the curtain of death formed by the barrage, countless spears of light whizzing past the windows of Innovation, like swimming upstream in a downpour, yet untouched. Xu Yang held onto the armrest with one hand and clung to Farosa with the other, lest she was thrown off during the violent maneuvers.
Having barely passed through the dense barrage of light spears, Dilnai’s attack immediately followed. She clenched the weapon in her hand, her six wings beating fiercely, and instantly appeared above Innovation, smashing her spear downwards.
Boom!
In an instant, Dilnai’s attack split Innovation into two. Xu Yang only heard a loud crack, and the cockpit in front of him was cleaved in half. The aisle broke in the middle, and his body rapidly tumbled outwards, as Dilnai’s power seeped into the cabin, preparing to capture Farosa.
Farosa quickly raised her hand to release the Law of Recovery, and Innovation instantly healed as if new. Lila sat still at the control console, silent and efficient, swiftly completing a series of complex commands, keeping Innovation running smoothly as if not affected by the hit, escaping the range of Dilnai’s attack.
Under Farosa’s focused control, the power of the ocean eventually took the upper hand. The force holding the separated sea dissipated, and the vast ocean raised by Dilnai surged back towards the center, as if the invisible walls around had completely collapsed.
The seawater roared as it closed, completely engulfing Innovation, which once more sank into the sea, whereas Dilnai flew upwards, harboring endless hatred for the ocean, the embodiment of Orcian, unwilling to soak in it.
The Throne of God... it was supposed to be hers. She was most suited to become a deity.
The suicidal feint by Xu Yang had bought Yan Duo some time. In the intense conflict, Yan Duo desperately extracted energy from the sun, its radiance even more intense and scorching than before. Dilnai instantly sensed this surge in heat; it became dangerous.
If this dragged on, Yan Duo would gain more power than Dilnai.
She leaped upwards, the Thunder Prison previously woven above the ocean’s surface blazed with light. The fierce lightning mercilessly bombarded the sphere of light that Yan Duo had become, continuously attacking and weakening its power, slowing its recovery process. She swung her spear forcefully, creating powerful attacks filled with malice. Each fierce assault left an incurable gash on Yan Duo. If this continued, Yan Duo would be annihilated.
Everything happened too quickly, with both parties having completed multiple attacks and defenses in the blink of an eye.
Xu Yang’s expression was taut. The resources they could utilize were few, especially in such top-level confrontations. They were not at all prepared to intervene at this level, but this was the predicament with Ancient Mystics—they had lived thousands of years longer, accumulating more power and resources, and could appear and attack at any moment.
Thunder and giant flames crisscrossed over the churning sea, with astonishing roars and tremors erupting continuously.
"I’ll devour all these things." Farosa rapidly opened a cabinet, turning out all the power artifacts that Xu Yang had previously fished out from the Divine Fragments.
Farosa, unconcerned with worry, desperately absorbed them. Under the immersion of pure Orcian power, Farosa’s arms began to grow thorny skin and scales, with webbing sprouting between her fingers. Now was not the time to be concerned.
More fresh Ocean Divine Power surged into Farosa’s soul. Her Witch body was not yet capable of bearing and releasing divine power of this caliber, but they had reached a dead end, and she had no choice but to fight to the death.
"If I get blown to pieces... before I regain consciousness... if I die too completely... I won’t be able to repair myself," Farosa’s body exhibited more and more oceanic traits. "If I die, will you remember me?"
"Where does a Witch go after death?" Xu Yang’s heart quivered.
"Afterlife World, or maybe the stars," she suggested.
"Then we’ll visit both places until we bring you back."
"Don’t forget."
Farosa released all the Ocean Divine Power stored in her soul. The seawater burst through her skin, mixed with Farosa’s blood, gushing out violently, quickly flooding the cabin of the Innovation. Lila immediately opened the hatch, and the Innovation began to disintegrate.
This divine power, stemming from the divine corpse Farosa had devoured, controlled the basic concept of the ocean. Under Farosa’s full control, this power surged from her soul, raising an unprecedentedly fierce ocean storm.
Clouds pressed down, and torrential rain poured. The seawater rose rapidly, quickly engulfing Dilnai’s body, forcing her to contest the power-imbued torrent for a short time.
By the time she managed to break free from the torrent’s constraints, the orb Yan Duo had turned into burst open, its solar energy coalesced into an invincible giant blade.
"Yan Duo!" It neither pursued battle nor was skilled at it. For the first time in its existence, it unleashed such a fearsome power, exerting all its strength to lock onto Dilnai and attempting to annihilate her on the spot.
Dilnai parried forward with her spear, the spiral lance clashing violently with the Sword of the Sun.
—Destruction!
When the two Ancient Mystics clashed, endless energies mingled and destroyed each other, creating a terrifying spherical vacuum zone that tore the world apart, leaving in the air an irreparable micro-fissure. Meanwhile, the collision unleashed a massive shockwave shoving away all matter in its path, isolating everything from the outside.
The power torrent obscured sun and shadows indistinguishable from each other.
Then all went quiet.
Farosa sank deeper into the deep sea, feeling suffocation and darkness, water pressure increasing all around her.
Her body sank deeper and deeper, the curse of Orcian echoing again in her mind. She descended until she reached the moist sandy seabed.
She was going to drown... glug glug... she felt so weak.
Her life was full of resentment and regret.
Farosa’s thoughts wandered chaotically until a figure lifted her, pushing Farosa higher and higher, toward the dimly lit surface of the sea.
Farosa resisted the urge to breathe. Only when her head emerged above the surface did she gasp for air desperately.
Her hair was completely drenched; both arms were broken. Now, she couldn’t even feel her hands, her head spinning. Xu Yang floated on the surface of the sea, clad in Cloud Beast armaments. The sea was extremely quiet, nothing visible, Dilnai and Yan Duo disappeared, the sunlight in the sky dimmed.
"It’s okay..." Xu Yang consoled Farosa.
"How did you find me?" Farosa remembered she had sunk to the deep sea floor, in pain all over, almost crushed to pieces.
"What do you think?" Lila surfaced.
Farosa rested her head on Xu Yang’s shoulder, her body cold and wet.
"I want to go home..." she said.
"You can’t go home." Lila shook Farosa. "Yan Duo is still nearby, and it needs us."
