Chapter 1054: Chapter 825: The Poison Master Wants to be a Professor

Because Rinne had to smoke and also head to Helis Sea for her shift, she left first.

Xu Yang checked Xu Cheng and Bubble’s coursework and found it quite unsatisfactory.

"It won’t work out like this," Xu Yang shared his concerns with Baby Lila.

"They have at least 200 years to live, worst case, they can just get their college diplomas at 60," Baby Lila comforted Xu Yang.

"But then she’d spend a long time as a fool, and that’s unacceptable," Xu Yang worried, unwilling to let Xu Cheng be looked down upon.

"Just remind them appropriately, but kids at this age probably won’t listen to you," Baby Lila said.

"Their grades are so bad, they won’t even qualify for high school." Once their class was over, Xu Yang warned them.

"Wahh..." Bubble was upset.

"It’s not a big deal! Sister Rinne left me a few million!" Xu Cheng was full of confidence.

Xu Yang recalled how Rinne had set up a large fund account for Xu Cheng years ago, worried that her "Little Fool" wouldn’t be able to support herself. Unexpectedly, this fund had now become the reason Xu Cheng was slacking off.

"Even though schools mainly teach general courses, you should still try to master them," Xu Yang said.

"But for math and stuff, couldn’t the Star Weaving Lady solve it for us? And as for memorizing stuff, why even bother? It’s all searchable; why should we painstakingly cram it into our heads? Just let Star Weaving Lady memorize it!" Xu Cheng tapped her head.

"I’m very happy to answer your questions! Full support!" Having heard their plans to consult an AI, Star Weaving Lady was very pleased.

"Then how would you live? If AI solves everything for you, what happens?" Xu Yang asked.

"Isn’t that already the case?" Xu Cheng didn’t understand. "Everyone’s using robots. Just let robots do the thinking and the work, easy!"

"But didn’t you aspire to become a pilot? If it’s all AI-controlled flights, there won’t be any chances for you to fly," Xu Yang reminded her.

"That’s not something I can control. Isn’t the Divine Radiance currently being piloted by Sister Star Weaving Lady?" Xu Cheng argued casually with her father.

Xu Yang found himself drawn into Xu Cheng’s logic.

Xu Cheng had grown up in a highly advanced world and had always been shielded by Xu Yang. When Xu Yang was growing up, technology wasn’t nearly as developed as today, and he grew up without parents. The generational gap in values between them was significant.

"But all this—Star Weaving Lady, other AI, and robots—exists to make you better. They’re not your excuse for standing still," Xu Yang admonished.

"Virtual school exams are too stupid. Exams should be open-book, so we can see what we don’t know and write it down after flipping through books. That way, the scores look better, and I’d also know what to study—best of both worlds! If I ran a school, that’s how I’d do it," Xu Cheng exclaimed happily.

"Exactly! With a brain-machine interface and memory storage unit installed, you could learn in hours what normal people accumulate over years," Star Weaving Lady chimed in.

"That would make humans lazy." Xu Yang reflected on such a slothful future, feeling disheartened. Surrounded by machines and advanced AI, people were growing increasingly complacent, losing their drive and pioneering spirit.

"Maybe I should study properly? Stop reading those articles," Bubble timidly advised Xu Cheng.

"What articles?" Xu Yang asked curiously.

Xu Cheng took her father to look at a series of articles criticizing education, written by a Witch named Poison Master.

Poison Master emphasized how unfortunate it was for ordinary people to blindly pursue academics. They spend precious decades of their lives in an endless grind of study, while wealthy kids can download compressed knowledge files in just minutes, absorbing information at a thousand times the efficiency of normal people.

Thus, the best approach is to lie flat, abandon competition, and avoid seeking too much; after all, the world has always been a playground for the wealthy. Ordinary folks should just aim for an easygoing life and pass their days.

"Her Self Help Society ended up going bankrupt because everyone ate away at the funds without contributing, and it fell apart," Xu Yang said dismissively.

"Ah, but Poison Master’s my idol!" Xu Cheng clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "I don’t want to study anymore! Studying is so exhausting!"

"The negative influence on teenagers is immeasurable..." To help Xu Cheng focus on her studies, Xu Yang opened Poison Master’s ’box’ and sought her out.

Poison Master lived in a luxurious apartment on Shangjing Coast. She opened the door dressed in pajamas, the deep purple robe wrapped around her flamboyant figure accentuating her allure. Though not tall, her body was top-notch—plump and textured, irresistible to touch.

"What brings you here?" Poison Master greeted with a cup of coffee in hand, smiling.

"This child says that not studying is the path to success and claims to be inspired by you," Xu Yang lifted Xu Cheng up.

Xu Cheng giggled while Bubble stood behind Xu Yang, pulling on his coat.

"Books must still be read," Poison Master scoffed. "Otherwise, how would one make money?"

"Huh? Money?" Xu Cheng widened her eyes.

"Can Nestor Corporation lower yacht prices? I bought this apartment and a yacht; now my money’s nearly gone, so I have to write sharp-toned articles to get by," Poison Master laughed.

"Ah! Harsh reality!" Xu Cheng humbly learned the lesson.

"Yes, Little Fool, you need to be very clever—package your radical views to disturb the public mindset and capture their emotions," Poison Master twirled her finger on the tip of Xu Cheng’s nose. "Then, kids like you who dislike studying will love what I write."

"Hee-ha!" Xu Cheng bit Poison Master’s finger playfully.

"I doubt writing articles alone is enough to maintain your current lifestyle," Xu Yang observed that Poison Master hadn’t really undertaken serious work.

"Indeed, which is why I hope Mr. Xu can assist me," Poison Master’s gaze lingered on Xu Yang.

"We’ll see," Xu Yang placed Xu Cheng down.

She roamed Poison Master’s exquisite living room—a modern island-style design with hanging contemporary lanterns and a composite-material wooden table at the center. The furniture was all incredibly expensive.

Xu Cheng slipped off her shoes and used her tiny feet to feel the itchiness of the new tatami.

"It’s the assignment system at Nestor Corporation’s info center—I want a job at Witch Academy, but every time I consult the info center, it automatically suggests careers at the research division. I know the research division is ’ideal’ for me, but I still want the academy. How can I make the system send me there?" Poison Master frowned.

"The info center was designed to guide people to the most suitable roles, aligning with their abilities. If you go to the academy, you’d inspire a crowd of Little Witches to stop studying. I think the system’s judgment is rather accurate," Xu Yang remarked.

"Come on, just help me check the backend records and see how I can find a job at the academy," Poison Master pleaded earnestly.

"Can’t you directly apply to the Witch Division? While the info center can provide referrals and appointments, the Witch Division and academy’s Council seem convenient enough," Xu Yang said.

"I’ve always maintained a somewhat distant relationship with the Witch Division; suddenly asking for their help is really awkward," Poison Master admitted.

"What about the Witch’s Dream?" Xu Yang suddenly thought of Farosa’s institution.

"Too much hassle; it’s remained dormant this whole time," Poison Master dismissed.

"Then you could lie flat in reality too."

"No way, the apartment still has 25 loan installments to go, and the yacht owes quite a bit too. I have to find a way to patch the financial gap; otherwise, I’d have to sell toxins to the black market," Poison Master said innocently.

"I remember you weren’t like this before," Xu Yang said.

"I wanted to overthrow the company, but Nestor Corporation looms over me. Honestly, do you expect me to defeat Nestor Corporation? Forget it; I’ve stopped being reckless. Living well under Nestor Corporation’s umbrella is what’s most important," Poison Master sighed.

Living within the company’s order means living like a company person—!

"Looks like the info center wants you to submit papers on toxicology, toxic magic power training, and educational theories. After submission, Hundred-eyes Demon will review the contributions, and then you’ll have a chance to be ’sent’ from the info center to the academy," Xu Yang analyzed the inner workings.

"Ah, I saw that prompt a while back too—thought it was joking with me at the time," Poison Master laughed lightly.

"You’ve got work to do; many other witches specializing in toxicity are competing too. Start writing now," Xu Yang encouraged.

Without delay, Poison Master began grinding out papers in her luxurious apartment.

Xu Cheng volunteered to stay behind, helping print documents and similar simple tasks.

"Huh? Does one only study hard for money?" Xu Cheng stood on tiptoe watching Poison Master collect materials and write tirelessly.

"Indeed, money is remarkable," Poison Master raised her hand to chest level, with her palm upward and thumb and index finger forming a circle—a gesture representing money.

"Money, money, money, money~" Xu Cheng mimicked the gesture, making coin shapes with her hands.

"Without money, you can’t take a single step," Poison Master said meaningfully.

"But I have a few million," Xu Cheng exclaimed happily.

"That’s nothing; truly advanced tech and exclusive pleasures require far more money. Don’t you want your own luxury Shuttle Machine? Always relying on your dad’s machines will make you want one of your own someday," Poison Master explained while furiously writing.

"My own Shuttle Machine..." Xu Cheng’s eyes lit up, thrilled by the thought.

"Exactly, to own your own luxury Shuttle Machine—that swoosh—and those millions will be gone. Then, ongoing costs for engine maintenance, charging, and fueling will amount to buying a brand-new Shuttle Machine. Ah, this world is just so exciting; it makes people impulsively want to splurge. Imported luxuries, clothes, jewelry, smartphones updated every three weeks. Once you start spending, money just evaporates. The fundamental logic of this world is to squeeze out your last penny," Poison Master explained.

"Whoa." Xu Cheng found it fascinating—being rich is the best.

During the day, Poison Master drafted papers; at night, she continued writing articles critiquing education while reconnecting with Self Help Society members and securing more funds.

"Weren’t you urging kids to study hard? Why are you still writing these articles encouraging people to stop studying?" Xu Cheng asked while standing on a stool to massage Poison Master’s shoulders.

"Hah..." Poison Master closed her eyes to rest. "What you write to make money doesn’t always align with your real thoughts. In fact, your genuine beliefs often don’t make you money."

"You’re so dishonest!" Xu Cheng exclaimed.

"That’s just reality," Poison Master said indifferently, nodding.

"Whoa, reality..." Xu Cheng attentively absorbed.

Poison Master paused for a moment.

"There’s something I haven’t told your dad; actually, it’s still about the Self Help Society. Many members are asking for refunds of their fees, and I’ve been figuring out ways to return the money, which has indeed caused financial strain. Now the bank is urgently chasing. That’s why, no matter what, never take out loans—the banks are scoundrels that lend umbrellas when it’s sunny and collect them when it rains. You must manage your wealth carefully. Even the most advanced AI can’t save humans from their irrationality," Poison Master warned Xu Cheng.

"Whoa!" Xu Cheng humbly learned—banks are evil, blow up banks.

Poison Master finally completed her paper and sent it for submission, along with a bottle of poison as a gift to the Xu family. Whether she could successfully join Witch Academy as a professor still depended on subsequent quality reviews.

Oddly enough, Xu Cheng started studying diligently, even actively seeking opportunities to get tutored. Her grades improved significantly—middle school admission now seemed within reach.

"Are you studying for money?" Xu Yang asked Xu Cheng during a chat. "If so, you might go astray."

Xu Cheng stood straight, put her feet together, and saluted Xu Yang with her right hand.

"Studying for money is tiring; studying for harsh reality is dishonest. But I want to be a child Dad can be proud of! So, I’ll go to middle school! Whoa!" she declared.
