Chapter 1024: Chapter 809: The True Dragon Appears in the World
The jade steps before the Dragon Palace had been soaked in blood.
Li Qingyan stared in terror at the scene before her.
"Immortal Lu Jing," her hair entirely white, swung a hundreds-meter-long Anti-Magic Blade, her unmatched power filling the air. Even the slightest movement of her weapon left carnage in its wake, the grounds within half a kilometer coated in blood, the monsters surging forward only to be shredded to pieces by Lu Jing again and again.
There were too many enemies, but Lu Jing was terrifyingly strong.
The Longevity Candy seemed to have overdrafted Lu Jing’s entire life, extracting decades of her future magic power for immediate use. In this moment, Li Qingyan felt fear deep in her soul.
From all directions, the monsters charged the jade steps crazed and desperate, determined to stop them from entering the Dragon Palace itself. Lu Jing gathered her strength, then dashed forward again, a single swing of her blade unleashing a massive torrent of magic power. The crisscrossing magic streams shattered all the creatures within her reach.
Each living thing either died instantly, or fell to the ground howling in agony before ultimately dissolving into flickering fragments of light.
Li Qingyan sat on the steps, struggling to shout at Lu Jing, "Go inside...!"
Lu Jing turned to cast a glance at Li Qingyan, and that look made her blood run cold.
"Inside? Where do you mean?" Lu Jing’s voice bordered on lunacy.
"The Dragon Palace—" Li Qingyan gasped with difficulty.
"There are too many beasts—watch me slaughter them all!" With frenzy igniting her voice, Lu Jing swung the shattered remnants of Four Points True Gold.
The blade itself had already been destroyed, though she failed to notice.
The Lu Jing of the present was merely spraying her magic power, life force, and blood furiously across the battlefield. Even so, her random bursts of magic flow continued to annihilate most of the monsters.
From Li Qingyan’s observations, these winged creatures with dragon heads and horse-faced bodies weren’t physical entities, but spell-forged monstrosities formed by the Dragon Palace Magic Barrier—vulnerable to Lu Jing’s immense reverse force.
No matter how many Lu Jing killed, the Dragon Palace would endlessly spawn replacements.
Li Qingyan saw all of this clearly. She couldn’t bear to watch Lu Jing exhaust herself to death. Unless Lu Jing entered the Dragon Palace, their chances of survival were nonexistent.
"Give me a piece of Longevity Candy—you go to the Dragon Palace," Li Qingyan urged breathlessly.
Her words were few as usual, but they carried immense weight at moments like these.
Lu Jing remained silent, tossing a piece of Longevity Candy to Li Qingyan.
The candies—she had them in endless supply, courtesy of Lu Sizhou.
Lu Jing knew Miss Lu never intended for her to return alive.
And so, Lu Jing held no desire to survive either. After all, this life was bestowed upon her by Miss Lu. She would risk it all for Miss Lu.
Li Qingyan clutched at the rolling Longevity Candy on the jade steps, stuffing it into her mouth and biting hard.
Power and frenzy coursed through her body. Magic veins swelled at an unnatural pace.
She felt no pain from her wounds anymore, only a mental fracturing piece by piece.
Time accumulated across her body, granting her unfathomable strength. Like Lu Jing, she had overdrafted her future power in exchange for her youth, her very essence.
"Roar!" Li Qingyan transformed into a massive Flood Dragon.
In this moment, she no longer merely altered portions of her looks. She had become, entirely, one of those mythical beasts they’d fought earlier.
Azure-gold scales, clawed hands, a long tail, and a mane of white.
Lu Jing and Li Qingyan swept past each other. In her Flood Dragon form, Li Qingyan knew this was likely their final meeting. Her gaze brimmed with sorrow, dragon eyes welling with tears.
Lu Jing’s gaze, however, held no trace of sentiment. She almost cleaved Li Qingyan in two with her blade.
A sickly, piercing scream burst forth from her, akin to the mournful dirge that once echoed through Dragon Gate Mansion, as she charged into the Dragon Palace.
The witches were discarded like tools or ammunition while Li Qingyan coiled herself atop the jade steps. She too felt the grief and madness consuming Lu Jing at that moment.
"Roar!" Li Qingyan lunged at the monsters, biting them apart and tearing them to pieces.
Devouring them alive.
Lu Jing dashed into the Dragon Palace, her white hair flowing, looking utterly deranged.
Her laughter echoed through the palace halls, evoking the most horrifying memories in anyone who heard it.
In the shadowy corridors deep within the Dragon Palace, Wang Jingxuan trembled on her knees, sending emergency signals to Lu Sizhou.
She heard the roars of Dragon Beasts nearby, followed swiftly by the sounds of their slaughter.
No guards could stop the current Lu Jing.
Lu Jing’s power had swelled beyond imagination, and yet it was clear this was her final act.
Wang Jingxuan understood that without tranquilizers, Lu Jing would soon devolve into one of those wretched crone-like figures, decaying yet immortal, suffering endlessly for thousands of years.
She needed to stall, stall until Lu Jing collapsed and became that hideous hag. By then, Lu Jing would be far too ashamed to show her face.
For now, though, Wang Jingxuan could only run frantically toward the depths of the palace.
The force within Dragon Gate Mansion could alter reality itself. If she found the true source of that power—the Dragon Ball—perhaps she might survive. But if the deranged Immortal Lu Jing caught up to her, Wang Jingxuan would surely die.
A life-and-death pursuit.
Lu Jing charged forth wildly.
She didn’t even notice the countless red-cloaked crones littering the Dragon Palace, their numbers in the hundreds, retreating meekly to clear her path while envying her younger flesh.
When the crones caught sight of Lu Jing’s white hair, knowing smiles spread across their faces.
Soon, Lu Jing would become just like them.
"Wang Jingxuan!—Pan Yuan!—" Lu Jing roared madly, calling out the two beings she most yearned to see.
In an instant, she arrived at the rear hall.
Behind the Dragon Palace lay an extraordinarily vast expanse of water, a seeming abyss bordered by polished white marble crafted into crisp, clean geometry.
