Chapter 81: 81: Stay Or Leave?

Lilac

"What?" He whispered as my eyes widened while it felt like I hadn’t heard right.

A smile tugged at Jake’s lips as he shrugged a little then keened closer a little, his eyes darting around the room. I looked around as well, and I noted that the room was empty, but if looked like he was still trying to be careful due to what he was about to say next.

"I’ve finally found my sister." He revealed and my mouth fell open with shock, my eyee widening from shock.

I remembered the first time we met and he revealed how he got here. He made himself got sold off as a slave here, because he wanted to find his sister who he was certain was being held in this palace.

"Really??" I cried out, feeling genuinely happy for him, and after he nodded, I threw my arms around him in a hug.

"I’m so happy for you." I tell him after the call ended. His eyes shown how happy he was and he grinned bashfully for a moment before a gloomy look came over his face. fr\eewebno vel .c(o)m

"They hurt her though... Y’know." He mumbled and my eyes widened as soon as I understood what he meant.

"I already expected it, because it was only logical since I was certain those people won’t know a thing about consent, however, I- I didn’t expect it to be that bad." He paused for a moment and worked his throat before continuing. "She’s broken."

My heart instantly began to ache in my chest as I felt do much pity for his sister. My mother used to say that a girl child’s first crime is being born.

"I’m so sorry, Jake." I tell him, my voice quiet.

Jake nodded, his jaw clenching and unclenching, then he waved a hand at me. "It’s fine, lilac. Thank you."

I nodded just as he continued. "Now that I’ve found my sister; I don’t have a reason to be here anymore. Thankfully, I’ve already found a way to escape. Would you accompanied my sister and I as well?"

My heart hammered against my ribs, my eyes widening because this time, I heard him loud and clear.

"Y- you’ll take me along with you?" I whispered and he grinned while nodding.

"Of course, if you want. Since we’re friends, I’ll help you out, y’know? You don’t have to keep slaving anymore since you can just come with me." He explained and I felt something tighten in my chest.

I waited for a feeling of relief and happiness to flood my chest, but it didn’t come, my chest still felt empty as jake began to speak again.

"So, what do you say?"

"Where would we go after we leave here?" I asked and he chuckled a little.

"We’ll go over to my home, you’ll be very comfortable there, you’ll never have to work as a slave anymore, I promise." He explained and I nodded, feeling extremely touched and moved that he cared about me enough to think about me in a moment like this.

"You’d even be able to return home if you want..." he continued and I quickly shook my head.

"Definitely not." I muttered and he arched a brow just as I glanced away. He still didn’t know where I was from, because if he does, he’d hate me. And I definitely can’t return home because now, my cover is already blown, and whoever it is in the throne now would definitely have me killed because my presence is a threat to the throne seeing as I’m in line for the throne after my father.

Not my uncle, not Malachi— but me.

"So?" Jake’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I let out a sigh as I pushed my hair out of my face.

"I really appreciate the offer, jake. I feel very very moved as well." I began. "But, I- I don’t think I wanna leave though."

I knew that it might seem like I was being right now. In fact, I was very sure that I was being dumb. I was literally rejecting an escape out of this hellhole, but the thought of leaving and never seeing the prince again was so heartbreaking.

I like the thought of being free, but not the thought of leaving the prince.

Jake frowned at me, clearly confused. "You like being a slave?"

He asked and I felt ashamed as I shook my head. "I- it’s not that, and if I stay here, I might not get to be a slave anymore anyway."

"How?" He asked and I explained the Prince’s offer to me this evening, and he actually looked so surprised as I spoke.

"That’s certainly surprising... but it’s stupid to reject a means to escape because of that if I’m being honest, especially since you don’t know his mind and he can change his mind at any given moment." He paused for a minute.

"For all we know, he’s even deceiving you..."

I shook my head firmly. "He’s not, and I am very sure of that,"

Jake didn’t look like he believed me.

"So you won’t leave with me?" He asked after a few moments of silence had stretched out between us, and I slowly nodded.

"I- I’m sorry, okay? It’s just a big decision to leave with you, especially since I don’t fully know you yet..."

He snorted, narrowing his eyes pointedly. "Oh, but it’s fine to move in with the prince who’s a literal beast that you know nothing about?"

My eyes widened at the sharpness in his voice, it was so shear that I flinched.

"I- I’m sorry, Lilac." He suddenly said almost immediately and I nodded awkwardly as I slid off his bed.

"I- I think I’ll go to sleep now," I muttered and I was glad that he didn’t stop me when I went off to shower. It was completely silent even after I stepped out of the bathroom and slid into my bed.

As I lay awake, I kept thinking hard, unsure of a decision to make, and praying that I don’t end up making a mistake that I might regret.
