Chapter 80: 80: New Proposal

"Y- you’re here right now??" I cried out as shock shoot through me like an arrow flying in the air.

Jake slowly dropped his hand and regarded me like I wasn’t making any sense.

"Er ... yeah, I am?" His response sounded more like a question and I closed the door, feeling creeped out as I approached him, stopping a few feet away.

"Did you hurry over here after speaking to me outside?" I asked and this time, Jake frowned as he sat up.

"What do you mean?"

I gestured at the door as I spoke, my eyes still blown wild. "You were just outside, speaking to me. Then you left, while I said I was returning to our room cause I was tired...." I continued and he slowly shook his head, his eyes widened too.

"Lilac... I’ve been in here since about four hours and I never left." He revealed and it felt like the air got knocked out from my lungs.

"B- but... are you sure?" I whispered, feeling my legs shaking a little from how frightened I felt right now. When Jake stood up and approached me this time, I stepped backwards before I could stop myself, still gaping at him.

That didn’t faze him because he stepped forehead again and took my hand gently, then he led me to his bed and helped me sit.

"Breathe, lilac. Slowly, okay?" He murmured as he crouched before me and I forced myself to do that, but I was still feeling creeped out on the inside from having him so close to me, after discovering that he was in here for the past few hours.

That means the person I spoke to outside wasn’t him?

How is that even possible?

"Now, tell me what happened in details." He said once it fight seem like I might pass out anymore. I suckrf in a deep breath and nodded, then I began my explanation.

I poured everything out, not leaving a single detail out. Once I was finished, I let out a long exhale. The fact that Jake wasn’t panicking like I was feeling on the inside wax helping me not grow more panicked.

"And you said he tried to make you accompany him somewhere?" Jake asked and I nodded while exhaling again.

"I’m glad you didn’t end up accompanying him." He stated, relief clear in his eyes and I nodded while feeling numb. My mind traveled to the fact that I had already agreed to accompany him, but something had stopped me and I didn’t know what that was, but when I glanced up at the sky, something that felt like a bad feeling had came over me, over and over again till I decide to just head over to my room.

For some reason, I didn’t reveal that to jake, because saying it out loud might make me sound crazy, and I already feel crazy at it is.

"I hope you didn’t tell the me you met outside an actual secret?" He asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. My eyes widened as I stared at him.

"What is that though?"

"It’s definitely a shape shifter. I just don’t know if it’s a human or a spirit." He explained and my heart lurched into my throat as I felt myself unconsciously inch closer to him.

"A spirit?" I whispered and he hummed while nodding.

"Yeah, they exist as well. It could be a spirit that has lost it body, so now it goes around in other body’s bodies."

A creepy feeling came over me as I shuddered.

"That’s... creepy." I whispered and he nodded.

"That’s indeed creepy, but it’s also dangerous. If you had followed that person thinking it was actually me, you might have been killed by now." He continued and my eyes almost fell out from there sockets as I gaped at him while fesr shrugged through my entire body.

"But of course, thankfully didn’t happen. Which takes me back to my first question, I hope you didn’t tell him any major secret?"

He asked and I shook my head. "N- no, not really."

I wrapped my arms around me, desperately in need for a hug. "So, how do i know it’s you on moving forward whenever that thing comes to me?" I muttered after a few seconds.

"We can make a password." He suggested and I instantly nodded because that sounded like it could help a lot.

"Whenever I approach you, you must always ask for the password. If it’s the fake me, he won’t know it so you’ll be able to see who the fake is without a lot of time passing." Jake explained and I nodded along as he spoke, feeling relieved that he was handing all of this in such a logical way.

We decided on a password with hand and face sighs, along with a word we’d be rotating, in case we were to exchange that password while the spirit is nearby, watching.

After that, I let out a long exhale, finally feeling relieved enough to relax a little.

That was the moment Jake nodded at me.

"You reek of sex."

My eyes widened as I instantly bolted up, feeling embarrassed to the core while my cheeks flushed. I had showered after all that I did with Sloan, I didn’t realize the smell still clung to my body.

He chuckled softly as I began to pull off his bed while apologizing.

"It’s fine, it’s not a horrible scent." He assured me but I believed he was only trying to be nice to me, and so I shook my head and was still hell bent on moving away so I could go shower again.

He grabbed my wrist in the next moment and tugged me into the bed again. I tumbled agsinst his chest before scrambling off, cheeks reddening even more as I apologized agsin, but he waved me off.

"Was it with the prince?" He slowly asked after a few seconds and I nodded, feeling shy and also hesitant, because I wasn’t sure I wanted a lecture from him right now,

I was grateful when a lecture didn’t come. But what came next still shocked me to the core.

"I’ve found a way to escape. Would you like to come with me?"
