Chapter 41: 41: Forced Interaction

Sloan

My mouth was twisted into a thin line as I watched my three cousins approach me. I have more than three cousins, but these are the ones that I’m most familiar with, and that happened against my own will. f.r(e)e\webn.ovel.co\m

"Why are you here?" I asked dryly once they stopped a few feet away. I was currently out here in the garden in my wing, and I only came out here whenever I wanted to think. When I was young, I used to imagine that if i had a loving family, we’d have cuddled in this garden on multiple occasions. We’d have sat here in the night and watched the stars. We’d have had countless picnics here. But alas, all of those never happened. They were just figments of my imaginations.

When I turned around to regard my cousins, a stormy cloud settled over my emotions. I’ve never gotten along with my cousins and I’m certain they detest me like I do them. I don’t even know why my father keeps trying to get us to interact when we’d never ever get along no matter what.

"You know we’re only here because he asked us to come say hello." Erin responded on his usual drawl.

"If not, we’d definitely not be here right now and you know it." Vlad added and I snorted.

My cousins couldn’t refuse my father anything he asked of them, because they were all competing for his throne so they tend to always want to please him no matter what. They couldn’t even dare to question any of his actions no matter what.

"Well, you’ve seen me now. You can leave now." I informed them before turning away from them.

"You know we have to spend at least five minutes here to make it seem believable that we get along." Vlad snapped and I scoffed with an eyeroll. They knew I didn’t care about that, they were the ones here who were worried how my father would react should they return back to him so quickly.

"I hope the school is as I left it this whole time?" I asked without turning back and I knew they were all tensing without me having to look.

They also attend the same school as myself and I’ve had to beat them up countless times whenever they crossed me or were in my way. I knew they didn’t like that I also attended the same school as them and that they were overjoyed when I was withdrawn by my father a semester ago.

"Why are you asking? You know the school doesn’t concern you anymore since you were removed from it. Now, we rule the school and call the shots. Everyone respects us and the rest of our crew. Tell me Sloan, does that make you mad?" Zade spoke this time, his voice in a drawl and when I turned around, he held my gaze without flinching.

Zade was the strongest of the three cousins, and in beast form, his wolf was very big for his age. He held his head up as I slowly approached him, his face revealing nothing but I noticed the rest of our cousins appearing weary.

"Want me to tell you a little secret? I’ll be returning to school next semester." I revealed and his eyes widened from shock as he regarded me, then he scoffed and shook his head.

"You father won’t allow it anyway. The whole school is happy since your absence, they can breathe more properly without having to be scared of you popping out of nowhere to snap their throats."

I rolled my eyes again.

"Are they now?" I drawled.

He folded his arms. "Just stay away. You’re not wanted there."

Of course I’m not welcomed there. Eighty percent of the students are curruptsd kids that thrive on walking over others and forcing people to submit to them. That’s where I come in, to weed out the dirts even though no one asked me to. And that’s why everyone rejoined when I left the school, because it gave them free will to do whatever messed up things they wanted.

When I was in school, I had a purpose most of the time. Take out bullies and the likes. Ensure no one is out of line. See that no one is breaking the rules behind my back and so on. Those things don’t make me feel like a good person because I know I’m not. They don’t make me hate myself less. Heck, they don’t even make me happy. But I still do it anyway, and I wasn’t sure I knew why.

"Why don’t you all get lost now? I’m sure it’s up to five minutes now." I finally breathed out and my cousins all turned to leave without arguing. It was rare for us to have encounters without them leaving with a broken nose or splitted lips, but I guess I just wasn’t in the mood today.

One of the reasons I came out here was because I tried to come up with a plan to stop my father from trying to control me. First, I had to find a way to check if my mother and sister were still alive. They might not even be alive this whole time but he keeps using them to threaten me over and over again. I’d like to confirm that, so I’d know if I have to work on that next or take the next move entirely.

I let out a deep breath and turned around, leisurely walking back to the main building of my wing. I could see a few maids and guards pointing towards me while hurriedly glancing away, appearing frightened and scared. I was already used to stuff like this, but it doesn’t mean I was completely immune to it despite me constantly pretending that I am.

As I walked past my guards situated at the entrance of the large building here in my wing, they bowed to me in respect and as I turned to walk down the hallway, I could pick out mild bits of lilac’s scent in the air. My chest rumbled with approval before I stepped inside my bedroom, already looking forward to tomorrow’s encounter with him.
