Cursed Bond: Claimed By The Monstrous Alpha Prince [BL] -
Chapter 39; Know Your Place
Chapter 39: 39; Know Your Place
The bald headed man announced before I could even fully comprehend all that I was hearing. My eyes widened as the words rushed into my ears.
My first mission?
Holy shit.
My heart instantly began to accelerate and my hands grew sweaty as I shoved my hands beneath my shirt.
"Um... this mission... it wouldn’t involve me hurting the Prince, right?" I breathed out hesitantly while glancing between them.
I didn’t know what prompted me to ask that question, but just wanted to get that out of the way before anything else. I stayed in the Prince’s room for about two days and I was completely unhurt. I didn’t know why but I was able to get out unscathed. Which is why I do not want to be involved in anything that might hurt him.
The two women in the group of four people all burst into laughter and I stiffened, swallowing emptily as I grew tenser and more stiff than I was a moment ago.
"Isn’t it cute that he thinks he has a say in whatever mission we chose to give him?" One of the women said and the other woman laughed for a bit while I grew more uncomfortable.
"Whatever mission we chose to give you is our business, it’s your job to do them without questions. Understood?" The same woman stepped closer as she spoke and I nodded fast while my heart raced really fast.
"If we need you to harm the prince, that’s exactly what you’ll do without questions. Is that clear?" She continued and I nodded again, already realizing my mistake of daring to question them.
"I’m sorry, I was out of line." I mumbled and the woman scoffed, sounding very disgusted.
"This is why I dislike humans. They’re all dumb and stupid," the woman bit out before turning away. I bit at the inside of my cheek and remained silent, and when I glanced sideways, my eyes briefly met with the brown haired guy. He had an unreadable expression on and I didn’t know what he was thinking and if he was angry at me like the two women present clearly were. fr\eewe.bn(o)v\el.c(o)m
"Lilac, before we proceed, I need you to keep in mind that you’re to never involve emotions into this. Remember that we were supposed to kill you. We kept you alive for this very reason, so before you chose to question us or go against our orders, remember that we could easily have you killed and disposed of." The bald headed guy spoke this time and I exhaled slowly while nodding.
Noted.
"I understand, and i’m sorry." I breathed out but he snorted and waved me off.
"It’s fine. You get a pass this time because in the past few days, you played the game so well. I don’t know how you managed to make the Prince get interested in you, but keep it up, hm?" As he spoke, I felt disgust cloud my mind as I kept staring at him. He was stabbing the prince right in the back.
How cruel of him. Wasn’t he supposed to be one of the Prince’s trusted men?
I nodded in agreement. "Okay."
~~~
I was being escorted by the brown haired guy, awkward as hell as I walked beside him. I let out a small breath as I struggled to keep up with his pace. There was so many questions I wanted to ask, but I was refraining from doing so because that might anger him since despite seeming chill and clearly being the youngest, he was still a part of the bald headed man team.
"Um, can I please know your name?" I tentatively asked after a few more minutes because it was getting harder to constantly refer to him as a brown haired guy in my head. He stopped walking to glance at me before responding.
"Damien." He finally responded and I nodded almost immediately.
Instead of resuming walking, he suddenly stepped closer to me and I sucked in a sharp breath, my eyes widening when he grabbed my chin. In the next moment, he was turning my head sideways and I dragged in another breath in realization. He was currently staring at the bite marks at the side of my throat and I suddenly didn’t know how to react.
Thay mark felt like something he wasn’t supposed to be seeing, because to me, it felt private and intimate, especially because of what led to that bite. But I didn’t say anything till he dropped his hand, but he didn’t step away as he spoke.
"Who bit you?"
My heartbeat accelerated and I didn’t know if I should lie or tell the truth. I didn’t even understand why he was asking, because it definitely shouldn’t be any of his business, but of course I didn’t dare utter those words.
"A guy..." I was still speaking when he cut me off.
"Is it the crowned prince?"
I shook my head as I exhaled slowly. "No, it wasn’t. it’s someone else entirely."
His eyes remained on my face for a few moments before he stepped away, and I resisted the urge to quickly exhale in relief because that would clearly give me away.
"Was it your roommate?" He asked as he resumed walking and I briefly wondered why he was so curious.
"No, it wasn’t."
"Who was it then?" He asked and my heartbeat sped up for a moment.
"I- it’s someone, but I forgot his name."
"So you’re that much of a whore that you’d spread your legs for someone whose name you don’t even know?" He suddenly asked and I choked on literal air.
"What?" I croaked out.
"I honestly thought you were the complete opposite of a whore. Clearly I was wrong." He added and I glanced away, feeling insulted but unsure of how to defend myself.
"I- I’m not..." I was still attempting to say something as he stared at me for a few moments, then he shook his head and waved me off.
"Never mind."
As we resumed walking, I felt even more awkward and weirded out.
This grown haired guy named Damien is definitely a confusing piece of word.
