Cunning General Si Ning
Chapter 281: Spotted

Chapter 281: Spotted

The sight before Si Ning was something he had seen in produced historical movies but this was much worst, a large scale war that seemed like soldiers were ants entangled, some with swords in their opponent’s belly, arm, leg, foot, back, even skull, the soldiers looked like animals, baring their teeth as they fought for their lives, no rational thinking, no Commanders to give orders, they were just interlocked only fighting anyone that attacks them, no strategy but the two armies were so large that strategy might have been tossed out the window, it was a bloody battle which was so rough that Si Ning had no idea how he was going to spot Qiu Bai among the sea of soldiers.

Xiu Zhicheng.

There were thousands of armies colliding, and even their armour seems identical yet it seemed the soldiers fighting were able to identify themselves. Si Ning suddenly started to worry about Xiu Zhicheng as he dismounted his horse looking around erratically for Xiu Zhicheng but it was like searching for a needle in a haystack. He just wanted to have a peek at Xiu Zhicheng to see if he was okay before finding Qiu Bai so he stood with watchful sharp eyes that kept darting around only picking out any skilled soldier that might be on a killing spree because Xiu Zhicheng and Qiu Bai were strong and they should be on a killing spree, he was able to spot those skilled untouchable men yet he wasn’t able to sight Xiu Zhicheng nor Qiu Bai.

"General!" Ji Ran that finally caught up yelled, he jumped down from his horse and he pulled out his sword, fatigue was written all over his face and his mouth was slightly open to breathe well. "General!" He called again but the moment he moved forward, it was like a choking aura surrounded him and his hand even shook once as his eyes brightened like a tiger in danger.

Ji Ran took careful steps forward like he was approaching a rabid dog that would bite him that he even had to move to the side just to avoid approaching Si Ning from behind and the moment he saw Si Ning’s face, how focused he was with eyes shinning with so much force like a predator looking for its prey, that moment Ji Ran stepped back immediately and he knew Si Ning was in a dangerous mood and any careless movement might cost him.

"My brother!" Shang Jin that arrived next jumped down from his horse and ran to stand at the back of Si Ning, he was holding an axe and his horn, ready to fight Ji Ran off because he was Si Ning’s supporter but then he was almost choked by the dangerous aura leaking from Si Ning that he quickly stepped back like all the parts of his body just warned him about a danger yet he still stepped forward to tilt his head to be able to see Si Ning’s face and with one look, Si Ning reminded him of a mountain cheetah ready to attack.

The rest of the men had arrived too, Xiao Pei and Yi Chen too arrived but Song Feng wasn’t among them, Xiao Pei noticed that Ji Ran gaze was now on the battle and he knew Ji Ran wasn’t going to fight Si Ning anymore because they were currently facing more pressing matter, it would be nothing but ignorance for them to avoid their men in battle and turn back, a soldier way wasn’t like that.

Si Ning doesn’t know how he was going to identify Qiu Bai, it was frustrating that he had been standing for some time yet he wasn’t able to spot Xiu Zhicheng or Qiu Bai so he turned to Shang Jin with an extended hand.

As if Shang Jin knew what he was asking for he quickly handed the horn to him.

To look for the two Emperors would take forever so Si Ning wanted to gamble, Qiu Bai must be trained in hearing so his hearing skill might be on a level like him which means he could hear from a far distance above all. Si Ning held the horn when he spotted Xiu TianZhao among the army, it was a bloody war but he recognised him because of the hefty men he was fighting, he was in a fight with his twin guards.

It was so confusing but Si Ning had no time to think of why Xiu TianZhao was in a battle with his guards, he would address that later but for now he had an enemy to catch.

Si Ning raised the horn to his mouth and shouted. "Qiu Bai! Qiu Bai...! Qiu Bai..!" He looked around but no one looked in their direction except one soldier that wasn’t Qiu Bai.

"General over there!" Ji Ran yelled.

Si Ning turned to where Ji Ran pointed and he saw Qiu Bai looking in his direction, just like he thought Qiu Bai’s hearing was on another level for him to even suspect he was being called above all the war noise but it was just for a second before Qiu Bai turned to continue fighting cutting everyone on his path like he only turned to check if he was hearing things or not.

Si Ning drew an arrow and directed it at Qiu Bai but Qiu Bai was too far away, he needed to get closer, without thinking Si Ning started running down the sloppy side moving towards the battlefield abandoning the horse because the horse would be cut down immediately he rides into battle so it was useless.

"General!"

"General!"

"General..." His men called in alarm but Si Ning didn’t stop.

Xiao Pei and Yi Chen followed Si Ning immediately without receiving a word of command and Ji Ran was about to follow but stopped and turned to see more of his men were just arriving and more would still arrive so he needed to stay to command them.

When Si Ning got closer that was when he recognised the armours and he could tell them apart, he pulled the arrow and shot it even though he was still running, this arrow pierced his first Xilie’s victim on the chest and the Xiu’s solider he was engaged with turned to check who shot the arrow and the moment his eyes landed on Si Ning, his eyes got filled with shock and amazement.

Si Ning pulled out three arrows which he shot at once, taking out three of Xilie’s soldiers, his impact on the war might be small but his presence gave the Xiu’s soldiers that saw him morale as they started fighting back harder. Si Ning ran into the battlefield and then slide into a kneeling position as he bent backwards just to dodge an enemy’s sword that was swung like they wanted to cut Si Ning into half, Si Ning pulled his bow and shot his attacker right in the middle of his head then he jumped up as his attacker started falling forward, dead. Si Ning collected his victim’s sword swiftly which he threw like a javelin and pierced the stomach of the next Xilie’s soldier that tried to attack him.

Si Ning knew the direction where Qiu Bai was and that was where he was running, he fell to one knee to dodge an arrow and with red layers on his eyes he turned on his kneeling position and pinpointed his attacker, he pulled out two arrows laid it swiftly his bow and pulled, his attacker’s eyes widened as he bent sideways escaping the first arrow as it pierced the side of another Xilie’s soldier but before he could bend again an arrow pierced him right in the gut.

After shooting the two arrows Si Ning didn’t watch maybe it hit or didn’t hit the target he was running again and any soldiers that tried to attack from the side were taken care of by Xiao Pei and Yi Chen. Si Ning didn’t bother to ask why Yi Chen was killing Xilie’s soldiers because it would be impossible to even talk in their situation.

The rest of the three thousand armies of Si Ning were now arriving and they all also jumped running into war after Ji Ran gave his command which is to kill any Xilie’s soldier while Shang Jin commanded the men from his tribe.

They were a small number of soldiers compared to those on the battlefield but the moment they entered they started clearing their enemies at once.

The clashing of swords was too loud but Si Ning advanced, running and reached behind him to take an arrow only to discover he had no arrows left so he bent and pulled out one arrow from a dead Xiu soldier’s thigh and he set it on his bow and pulled taking out another Xilie’s soldier but him running further into the battle caused him to leave him men behind and it was only Xiao Pei that was able to catch up. Si Ning ran forward and extended his free hand right beside him and Xiao Pei that was running gave him a bunch of arrows.

These arrows were what Xiao Pei was able to grab from a torn arrow bag on the ground and he watched as Si Ning skillfully put the arrows in the open arrow bag behind him.

"You traitors!"

The first person they met was Xiu TianZhao who was shouting ’traitors’ as he fought his twin guards aggressively even though he seemed to be struggling.
