Si Ning left the hall and the two guards at the door saluted him. It was now he was starting to see things again, he was now aware of those around him, Xiao Pei was waiting for him but he couldn’t see Jiang ChenMu.

"Jiang ChenMu?"

"He escorted Young Miss Si Nan to the hall." Xiao Pei replied.

"He will bring Jiang Ye home when the Imperial Doctor is done treating his wound." Xiao Pei replied.

For Yi Chen to bring Jiang Ye home was normal because Jiang Ye wasn’t a person that was supposed to be nor stay in the palace for so long because he wasn’t an Imperial guard, a palace guard nor part of the Jasmine palace guard so he was out of place so was Yi Chen so they had to leave.

Si Ning rounded the ancestral hall to the back of the building where Ah Dai’s home was supposed to be among the quarters. Some of the green grasses he stepped on were burned just to show how massive the fire had been.

It was Si Ning’s first time going to that area of the residence, he had never had any business to do there since Ah Dai was always with him. Si Ning sighted the largest house at the extreme among the quarters and it seemed new, renovated so he started walking towards it, the main door was left wide opened so he approached the door carefully and stepped in, the room was spacious and beautifully painted with a single table at the middle and a sitting mat, he sighted Ah Dai’s mother in the inner room packing some medical supplies into a box, her back turned to him, the sliding wooden door was left a bit open so he could see that she was dressed in a medical robe.

It wasn’t the state Si Ning expected her to be in, he expected to see her sitting at a corner weeping so he was confused if Ah Dai’s body was sent home, he turned to Xiao Pei but something caught his eyes at the far corner of the room Ah Dai mother was in, just when she shifted and Si Ning could see part of the room and what caught his eyes was a body lying on a table covered with a white cloth up to the torso, medical supplies on a tray on the table next to the table the figure was lying on.

Ah Dai.

Si Ning was filled with sorrow as he watched Ah Dai’s mother finish clearing the table, she was a strong woman because her son’s dead body was delivered to her home and after lamenting for a while she picked up herself, cleaned the body, and even stitched up the wound on Ah Dai’s body just to prepare him for the funeral.

It was quite admirable for Si Ning yet it was painful because she seemed to carry on her life like she knew her son was going to die at any moment like the news of him being dead was no shock to her so Si Ning watched her as she finished packing up and drew the white cloth up to cover her empty son’s shell face.

Si Ning couldn’t communicate with her since she was deaf and dumb so he waited for her to notice him and the only thing he could do was kneel and ask for her forgiveness. When she turned to him and finally stepped out of the inner room holding the box of medical supplies, Si Ning fell to his knees but when he tried to kowtow he heard something fall and scattered on the floor this made him stop what he was about to do and raised his head only to see that the box she was carrying was on the floor, the content in a bottle spilling while she quickly fell on her knees in front of Si Ning to prevent him from kowtowing while shaking her head furiously as she held Si Ning’s shoulders.

Si Ning knew she was trying to tell him not to kowtow but when she tried to guide him to stand, Si Ning, remained rooted to his spot refusing to stand up, then she raised a finger which was her forefinger, and Si Ning nodded even though he had no idea what she meant but raising a forefinger could be translated to excuse me or give me a minute so Si Ning stayed on his knees and watch as she ran inside, he heard her scattering something and something crashed on the floor so he hoped she didn’t get injured but when he was about to stand to go check on her, she came back holding a box. She gave the box to Si Ning and made some signs Si Ning doesn’t know then she proceed to kowtow in front of Si Ning and quickly raised her head to prevent Si Ning from doing so to her then she made some signs with her hands before standing up to pack up the things that spilled and left the room after saluting Si Ning.

Si Ning had no idea what she meant but from her gesture and from what he had seen in movies and experienced as an a former Actor all he could say was that she was thanking him but for what? He had no idea. Si Ning opened the box and the first thing he saw was a paper like a letter and a book and inside the box contained a series of different shaped bottles labeled with their inscription, he rumbled through it to see it was just bottles each with different content of some ingredients or pills, he opened the book to see it contained recipes, it was Ah Dai’s recipe book, he took the piece of paper that looks like a letter to read it.

Si Ning unfolded the letter to see Ah Dai’s handwriting. "Young Master, I hope you are doing well, if you receive this from my mother it means I am no more by your side so Young Master do not be sad because my best life was lived serving you, you gave me expensive rice, warm bed, warm bath, taught me how to read and write, renovated our house and my mother was very happy. Young Master if you see Commander Ji Ran tell him Ah Dai is sorry because Ah Dai was unable to return his feelings. The purpose of this letter is to show you the pills Ah Dai made and there are these pills inside a transparent square-shaped bottle, it can save Young Master from any poison, Young Master can contact Young Master Song Feng to replicate the formula. After reading it Si Ning dropped it in the box, he couldn’t believe that even in death Ah Dai made sure he would live fine, he glanced over the box and sighted just one square shaped bottle, and right under it was a piece of paper with the ingredients written in it.

Si Ning turned the bottle to look at the pill and it was just like the pill Ah Dai gave him when they were fighting Yang Sheng, the pill that seemed to flush the poison out of his system. He stood up to look for a blade or knife to cut a lock of his hair but he didn’t look around for a second before Ah Dai’s mother appeared and with careful steps she approached Si Ning.

Si Ning looked at her to see she was holding something and it was a razor so he took it and cut his hair then placed the short fine silky dark lock of hair in her palm and watched as she smiled sadly and fell to her knees. Si Ning took the box and head out like he was being chased because she was about to kowtow to him, he handed the box over to Xiao Pei.

Now was time for him to finalize things and go to war.
