Cunning General Si Ning -
Chapter 232: An Assassin
Chapter 232: An Assassin
The figure stopped when Si Ning moved out of the way, they seemed to be amazed by Si Ning’s instinct so they watched Si Ning.
Si Ning blinked, his vision unclear but he could tell it was a man standing before him. He couldn’t feel his legs, his body seemed to have shut down and with how weak he felt it seemed like it was a miracle that pushed him out of the way of the sword because now he doubts he could lift a finger but he summoned all his power and started to drag himself on the floor, each movement accompanied with pain in his arms were on fire, like his bones were broken and he was trying to arranged it with his muscles but at last he was able to lean on the wall, he was able to succeed, his cloth drenched in sweat as he blinked, his vision so blurry. His mouth was heavy and bitter and he knew he had been poisoned, it was all a plan to kill him, and kill the Empress of the Nation which means they planned to take over Xiu before Xiu Zhicheng returns.
It wasn’t even a day yet that Xiu Zhicheng left and a coup already happened, Si Ning first had to survive but his sword was far away from him, his knives too even another dagger he got was laying in his drawer which means he had no weapon at hand.
"Who are you?" Si Ning asked slowly, his voice so small he doubts the intruder heard him.
"A citizen of Xilie who lived in Xiu for years as a spy for when days like this come." They replied.
Si Ning knew that voice, a voice sounding old yet sharp so he blinked and their face became clearer for a second that he was able to even assess their attire. "Yang Sheng?" He said slowly.
It was unbelievable that the man who was dressed in black, looking so smart like a General, his facial expression hard without a hint of kindness, it was a face Si doesn’t recognize. He couldn’t believe that he had been living with the enemy under the same roof, the enemy assessing his meals, taking care of him and the household, and him as a whole Empress was at his mercy.
That form of betrayer was damaging as Si Ning’s heart broke that the meek man he knows was someone he actually did not know, he promised Xiu Zhicheng to protect Xiu yet he couldn’t even protect himself, he only had power and the title yet he allowed himself to be penetrated, he relaxed as his sense of judging people and being suspicious disperse like it never existed, he got too comfortable chasing his dreams and falling in love without trying to check those surrounding him, his paranoid attitude disappearing and now he was in a mess, a big mess where he had to rely on a wall to be able to sit, breathing hard, feeling so tired as sweat upon sweat got produced by his body it was starting to enter his eye yet he blinked it away filling the salty sweat itch his eyes that he blinked severally.
"I am a spy of Xilie, the one who read your letter and made sure you didn’t meet your Commanders, I informed the Minister of Welfare you have no intention of joining Xilie because you are already smitten with the Emperor of Xiu but to kill you I have to go through the dirty approach of poisoning." Yang Sheng explained, his voice stern.
"I never did anything to you." Si Ning said breathing hard as he wondered if Yang Sheng was even his name.
"You didn’t do anything to me but you are a dangerous person, you are someone who must die to save my Nation, I heard about you being nasty without a care, a coldhearted bloody General who had no pity but when you came to the Jasmine palace and I saw you, the way you treat people, especially Ah Dai, there was nothing cold about you, you are a lovely person that I saw the reason our Emperor Qiu Bai fell in love with you but you are cunning and our Emperor doesn’t need someone like you that is why you must die." Yang Sheng said as he swung his sword ready to slash Si Ning. "Any last word?"
Si Ning closed his eyes slowly as he took a deep breath then he opened them. "Not today."
Yang Sheng frowned but before he could act Si Ning rolled on the floor and grabbed a pen which was mysteriously laying next to the flower vase, he picked it up and jabbed it with all his strength on Yang Sheng’s leg. Yang Sheng bit his lower lip hard to prevent himself from screaming as he swung his sword but Si Ning was able to dodge.
Yang Sheng’s long talk was actually the time Si Ning used to recover a little to gain strength for his quick-witted action, he had the body of a General so he was never going to go down easily or go down without a fight, his body had been trained so he could withstand poison to some extent but when he tried to stand Yang Sheng gave him a kick with his good leg which sends Si Ning crashing into the table. Si Ning’s back hit the table, the table angle poke him hard at the side of his lower back, the impact of the sudden kick on his stomach and the poison in his system made him cough out blood, he felt an extreme pain on his back which he ignored because he wasn’t able to register the pain since he was fighting for survival.
Despite Si Ning’s back that felt like it had broken he still tried to stand yet he staggered for a second and suddenly became steady he grabbed the bottle of ground ink on the table, he threw it at Yang Sheng, the throw was weak so Yang Sheng avoided it from entering his eyes but the one second he closed his eyes Si Ning dashed forward with the pen he had been using to write on the table but Yang Sheng positioned himself as he opened his eyes and swung his sword cutting the pen into half barely missing Si Ning’s hand, he gave Si Ning a hard kick on the head which sent Si Ning crashing on the floor.
Si Ning felt the impact but he refused to stay down as he struggled to stand but Yang Sheng brought down his sword which slashed Si Ning deep on the arm because he wasn’t able to dodge faster, Si Ning staggered as blood started to stain his sleeve. He was very weak and couldn’t shout for help and he dodged another sword attack but met with another kick on the arm he was slashed, this sent Si Ning tumbling to the floor, his back turned to Yang Sheng.
Yang Sheng saw it as an opportunity to finally end Si Ning as he raised his sword but the door busted open at once sending him to a halt as Ah Dai appeared holding a sword.
When Ah Dai saw the state Si Ning was in, a mouth stained with blood, a disheveled hair, a torn sleeve bloody sleeve, being unsteady with dilated dull eyes.
"How dare you try to kill my Young Master!" Ah Dai yelled and rushed at Yang Sheng, he raised his sword and his sword met with Yang Sheng making a sharp ’clang’ sound.
"How are you awake!" Yang Sheng yelled, his eyes blazing fire.
"My mother is a medical personnel, I can easily cure myself!" Ah Dai yelled as he continued to clash his sword with Yang Sheng.
Si Ning was feeling so dizzy, he suspected it was due to blood loss, he tore his sleeve and tried to bandage his arm but stopped because of the violent fight happening before him, Ah Dai was pushing back but Yang Sheng seemed to be overpowering him due to experience and the way he kept kicking everywhere, even the drawers and bedpost were now damaged.
"I never wanted to kill you Ah Dai but now you must die!" Yang Sheng shouted with venom dripping from his voice as he raised his sword after kicking Ah Dai, this time Ah Dai wasn’t fast enough to stand so he guarded the sword with his prosthetic arm.
The sword got stuck in it and Yang Sheng was unable to slash the arm so Ah Dai used that moment to kick the pen that was stuck to Yang Sheng’s leg. Yang Sheng yelled in pain and used all his force to pull his sword, pulling the protected arm in the process, he saw that Ah Dai was in pain as he used his good hand to hold his shoulder but Yang Sheng gave him a hard kick which damaged the arm from the root blood gushed out from Ah Dai’s shoulder staining the floor and his robe.
"Ahhhh....." Ah Dai yelled in pain only for Yang Sheng to bend and used his knee to hit his mouth.
Ah Dai..
