When Song Ouyang was done talking, he and Si Ning entered into a staring competition, Song Ouyang’s eyes were shifting around before locking with Si Ning for a while before resuming to dart around like he was looking for something but Si Ning’s eyes were on him without looking away.

It was funny to Si Ning that the house arrest had been lifted yet Song Ouyang refused to step in the room nor leave, he was standing there looking like he was expecting something which was the reason Si Ning was staring so much because he was expecting Song Ouyang to say a word if not, there was no way he was going to understand what the Prime Minister seemed to be looking for.

Si Ning was about to tell Song Ouyang he was dismissed when he realised being told to leave might be what Song Ouyang was waiting for, he also had to get ready to go and see Chen An so he didn’t need an old man hovering over him but Yang Sheng stepped forward and knelt making Si Ning wait to want to see what was going to happen.

"I Yang Sheng the head of the Servants of the Jasmine Palace testify that my Master, The Empress and General of our Nation accepts His Majesty’s terms and will follow through it by keeping the law and order in the Palace and, our Nation." Yang Sheng said as he stretched forth his hands, raising them above his head as he bowed.

Si Ning watched as Song Ouyang placed the edict in Yang Sheng’s hands then he turned to bow to Si Ning. Yang Sheng also quickly scrambled to his feet to present the edict to Si Ning by kneeling and raising it just like the way he collected it. The edict was going to serve as a proof to anybody who would dare to challenge Si Ning when he takes on the duties of running the Palace and Nation but Si Ning doesn’t think anyone would dare to do that so the piece of rolled paper was just going to add to the papers in the house but he collected it anyway he might need it in case the Queen Dowager decided to cause trouble for him, he didn’t bother to check it, he only threw it in one of the drawers.

"Young Master....! Young Master....."

Si Ning had been expecting it he had been expecting Ah Dai to show up immediately after Song Ouyang arrived so when he heard Ah Dai calling him from miles away, he wasn’t surprised, he knew Ah Dai was probably bringing his food.

Si Ning sat at the table only to see that Song Ouyang had now stepped into his room, his gaze on the flower vase on the table made Si Ning frown as he stood up to check the edict because there might be some signing he had to do which Song Ouyang was still waiting for.

"Young Master..." Ah Dai called as soon as he stepped in. "Young Master? Young Master." He called with a clear hint of impatient.

Before Si Ning turned to Ah Dai he first scanned through the edict to see there was nowhere for him to sign nor stamp then he turned to Ah Dai who was breathing hard, sweat rolling down his face to show he had been running.

Si Ning would have loved to attend to Song Ouyang first but the Prime Minister seemed not to be in a hurry and Ah Dai might have an urgent message for him because Ah Dai wasn’t with any snacks for him or an item that would make at least some of Si Ning’s time to be comfortable. "What is it Ah Dai?" He asked knowing Ah Dai couldn’t have shouted his name for no reason.

"Young Master, his Majesty is leading the Imperial army to war right at this moment." Ah Dai reported briskly even biting his tongue in the process.

Si Ning’s heart skipped a beat as the next heartbeat sounded with a loud ’thump’ in his chest. "What?" His eyes widened as his heart started to accelerate.

"General Chen An told me the villages next to the Imperial river are under attack and the army closest to it is the Imperial army so His Majesty with the rest of the Generals in the palace are leaving to war, Commander Chen An will be unable to drop by because they have to leave now." Ah Dai said quickly with a worried expression, his breathing still erratic. "That is what Commander Chen An told me to report."

Si Ning didn’t think much about it when Song Ouyang showed up with an edict, he thought his time of being locked up was up but now looking at Song Ouyang he could see dark circles under his eyes and he seemed he aged since the last time he saw him, his belt was also not positioned well and he was even breathing hard rhythmically it was almost unnoticeable which means he came in a hurry but the reason why he was still standing was what Si Ning doesn’t understand so he raised a brow.

"Your Majesty, it is time to send His Majesty off." Song Ouyang said after seeing the permission for him to talk.

"No, I have the defenses of Xiu to work on." Si Ning said without thinking.

Sending Xiu Zhicheng off means he had forgiven him but he doesn’t want to show any sign that might lead to Xiu Zhicheng thinking he was forgiven, if he didn’t show up then Xiu Zhicheng would know he was still angry with him and find a way to fix it maybe after the war.

"Your Majesty." Song Ouyang bowed after a while of seeing that Si Ning had no intention of taking his words back, he finally left in a hurry.

Ah Dai started talking to Si Ning as he sat opposite his Master, he was talking about the rush in the palace but Si Ning wasn’t listening, he couldn’t help but picture Xiu Zhicheng in armour riding a dark horse to tackle the problem in the small villages, Xilie attacking the small villages might be a trap set for Xiu. Just thinking about Xiu Zhicheng being exposed to swords and arrows as he fought made Si Ning’s heart raise, if Xiu Zhicheng goes to war then he might not see him for a year or more, and worst what if Xiu Zhicheng sustained an injury and was unable to come home.

All the scenarios kept making Si Ning’s heart to speed with panic, the thought that he might not ever see Xiu Zhicheng again, see him laugh, see him smile, see him cuddle and kiss him passionately was starting to make Si Ning feel uncomfortable that he felt like his robe was choking him at the neck so he placed a hand to adjust his collar but then he could feel his body going warm like he was sweating but tapping his forehead, he realized there was no sweat on his fingers, his gaze fell on his ring finger that used to hold the jade ring which was now empty broke Si Ning’s heart so much he wanted to break into tears, this wasn’t time for his pride and ego. He loves Xiu Zhicheng and he didn’t want the last memory of them to be of the argument. He love Xiu Zhicheng so much he wanted to see him and tell him he was sorry, he wants to send him to war with a smile after hearing his promise that he was going to come back safely to him so Si Ning stood up suddenly that Ah Dai was shocked but he ran out of his room.

If he hurry he could still meet them before they leave that was what occupied Si Ning’s thinking he couldn’t see anyone as he rushed through the house wishing he could fly, he even hit his leg on a table but he couldn’t register the pain because he saw the main door, he opened it and ran out to his courtyard only to see Xiu Zhicheng rode a dark horse in full speed.

Xiu Zhicheng?

It was just like his imagination but the dark stallion was impressive, Xiu Zhicheng was in golden and dark armour, his hair fastened into a ponytail, he jumped down and Si Ning found himself going weak in the legs with how handsome his husband was in armour. Immediately they laid their eyes on each other, looking at each other with intense longing, millions of words went through their minds.

’I am sorry.’

’I love you.’

’I miss you.’

Xiu Zhicheng smiled brightly, his eyes crinkled at the corner and he spread his arms and Si Ning just like how all those heroines in Bollywood movies he had seen run to their hero whenever they missed each other, that was what he did, he ran, running was a punishment because he couldn’t wait to jump into his arms not even minding the armour but when he jumped Xiu Zhicheng was able to skillfully dodge to avoid Si Ning suffering the impact from the armour as he caught Si Ning making him halt before pulling him into a hugged.
