Cunning General Si Ning
Chapter 224: I Know

Chapter 224: I Know

The meeting ended with Si Ning refusing to stand to his feet, to get comfortable he had to later kneel on his two knees and he was on his knees throughout the rest of the meeting and the other Ministers pretended not to see him after a while of trying to get adapted to the situation where the Emperor ignored him and continued the meeting like there was nothing amiss.

As the meeting progressed Xiu Zhicheng’s aura became darker and choking that most of the Ministers started to thread on their toes like they were trying to keep their heads on their shoulders knowing it was Si Ning that caused Xiu Zhicheng to be in a bad mood, even though it didn’t show that the Emperor was not in a good mood but his eyes that were narrowed at each Minister when they come forward to talk made them stuttered, some even bit their tongue or lips when talking and as soon as their issue was addressed and they step back in line, they had to take a deep relief breath while wiping the sweat on their faces with shaky hands.

When the meeting ended Xiu Zhicheng left the room immediately, the rest of the Ministers were too afraid to approach Si Ning nor try to talk about what happened and since the Emperor had dismissed the meeting they all filed out in a hurry like they were being chased leaving only Song Ouyang, Xiu TianZhao and Shao Lang behind in the room.

Si Ning was still on his knees and Shao Lang stood right at his spot opening and closing his mouth like he wanted to say a word, Xiu TianZhao, on the other hand, wanted to approach Si Ning but after taking a step he stop, scratching his head like he had no idea what to do. Song Ouyang watched, blinking at the side like he had no idea what to do too.

Si Ning could see Xiu TianZhao from the corner of his eyes and he knew the Minister of Works was going to approach him soon so he stood up abruptly, he was angry, he couldn’t deny that because he had never been humiliated like he was today so he had no chill left to listen to Xiu TianZhao or Shao Lang.

With angry strides Si Ning entered the exit door Xiu Zhicheng took, it leads to a large passage with doors, it was so confusing because Si Ning had no idea where to go, he waited hoping Xiu TianZhao would come in so he could lead the way but after waiting for a little and Xiu TianZhao didn’t come, Si Ning started heading through the passage ignoring the doors, he got to a T.section not knowing whether to go left or right, he went with his gut and chose left, he reached the end to see a large door and he opened it, finally, he was outside but he had no idea where he was, he turned around only seeing buildings that looked alike so after walking around a bit trying to figure out where he was, he sighted the Imperial study. When he was confused walking around, his anger had already subsided but seeing the Imperial study he knew he still had to talk to Xiu Zhicheng so he started marching towards it.

Si Ning climbed the two steps leading to the study expecting the two guards at the door to open the door for him instead they moved to block his way. It was an unexpected move as he watched them salute him without moving out of the way. "Move away!" The guards’ behaviour sent his head sparking and the anger that had desolved got renewed like it never left.

"Forgive me Your Majesty but we cannot allow you in." One of the guards said. "Forgive us, forgive us, Your Majesty"

"Forgive us, Your Majesty." The other guard said as he wore a firm look.

"Xiao...!" Si Ning was about to yell to Xiao Pei to deal with the rude guards but he remembered Xiao Pei was no longer by his side and the route he took made him end up standing alone, he forgot to tell Yang Sheng and Ah Dai not to wait for him outside the palace so now he was without guards to order.

Si Ning knew he had to do things by himself. He pulled one of the guard’s sword out of its sheath and placed it on his neck. "Who ordered you to keep me out?" He asked after taking a few deep breaths to calm his nerves yet his hand was steady.

"His Majesty the son of heaven." The guard with a sword placed on his neck replied shakily as he quickly fell to his knees. "Please Your Majesty go back for today." He kowtowed.

This showed that Si Ning could barge his way in but the two guards that were meant to keep him out might end up in trouble. He would have also created some ruckus but he was bigger than that so he threw his sword on the floor, he removed his ring on an impulse and gave it to the other guard that fell slowly to his knees yet still blocking the way.

"Give this to his Majesty and tell him do he still refuse to meet me?"

The guard’s eyes widened but seeing that Si Ning was serious he bowed and went in, then came out immediately. "I have delivered it to Steward Yu." He said as he resumed his kneeling position.

Si Ning waited, his hands akimbo, his feet tapping on the floor, he was getting impatient but he had to keep calm. "Tsk." He clicked his tongue and was about to leave when the door opened.

"Your Majesty, his Majesty will see you now." The head eunuch that opened the door said, he bowed and stepped aside leading the door wide open.

Si Ning brushed past him straight up to the study to see Xiu Zhicheng behind a table, dipping his pen into the ink and writing carefully in a note, his aura still dark and occupying the room to show he wasn’t in a good mood and giving off an unapproachable vibe.

"Why!" Si Ning demanded, his eyes shifted to the ring resting on the table.

Xiu Zhicheng dipped his pen in the ink. "Why what?" He asked in a dangerous low tune without raising his head.

"Why won’t you let me help you solve your problem if I can!" Si Ning snapped, annoyed that Xiu Zhicheng refused to meet his eyes. He wanted to rant about how he left him to kneel there in the courtroom but he had to take a step at a time. "Do you see me as a weakling?"

"To help me? Helping me is staying in Xiu and running the palace and the Nation." Xiu Zhicheng replied calmly.

"No! You being my husband doesn’t give you the right to tell me what to do." Si Ning almost yelled. "I have to see Qiu Bai, I need to see Qiu!"

Just like a volcano that erupted the pen Xiu Zhicheng was using snapped by the force he was using to hold it, he raised his eyes and Si Ning took a step back because the Pheonix eyes had gone dark almost like the Emperor had double pupils, his eyes radiated a murderous intent to kill and this shook Si Ning to the core he took another step back but he wasn’t about to back down, Xiu Zhicheng doesn’t scare him, being scared of your partner means you had no reason to be together.

"Qiu Bai?"

"Uh?" Si Ning frowned wanting to snap at his husband to get to the point.

"You called him by name." Xiu Zhicheng stood up slowly. "Is it to show how close you two are to me?" He asked calmly as the ink he was dipping his pen in spilled dying some part of the long note he had been writing black.

"What we are not close." Si Ning replied wondering what Xiu Zhicheng was getting at. Calling Qiu Bai by name was just how it stuck to him in the modern-day world.

"Yet you call him by name, you go to the tavern with him, he almost had his way with you, you drink with him, he visits your home yet you are now demanding to see him." Xiu Zhicheng said, his eyes turned red like blood, his aura dangerously filling the whole air. "Do you love him?"

What the...

Si Ning’s eyes widened, shocked that his mouth hung open, he couldn’t believe Xiu Zhicheng knew about him meeting Qiu Bai despite all his disguise, he felt like a fool caught in a trap and he was not only angry he was mad. "That is not the point! And do you dare to put people on my trail?" He yelled furiously wanting to break something so he grabbed the note that was stained with ink and tore it not caring if what Xiu Zhicheng wrote in it was important, his hands were stained with ink yet he took the imperial seal and threw it at the door.

"Si Ning." Xiu Zhicheng said in a low voice laced with a hint of warning as he watched his wife displaying his anger at the things in his study.

"I will see Qiu Bai whether you like it or not!" Si Ning concluded breathing hard.

"Li Fan!" Xiu Zhicheng called when Si Ning was about to leave his view.

"Your Majesty." Lin Fan appeared immediately.

"Throw Si Ning in a house arrest." Xiu Zhicheng ordered.
