Twenty years ago, I found my mate, but he wasn’t my kind. In order to win his affection, I left my castle and consumed herbs to transform myself into someone he would like. Unfortunately, he was already in love with someone else.

Titus was willing to sacrifice his love, Jessica, for me, unaware that she belonged to the dark world. Jessica, with her roots in the werewolf tribes, could conceal herself effectively and used her powers to sow discord between Titus and me, revealing my true vampire nature before I had the chance.

Titus harshly rejected me upon learning the truth, despite my carrying his child and my desire for him to be a part of our offspring’s life. He demanded I abort the child, but I managed to escape using my vampire speed. I never saw him again after that.

Years later, I heard he was ill and searching for me, having been abandoned by Jessica for being of no use to her.

Titus has a younger brother, Lucian, who now serves as the acting Lycan King. Lucian has twice proposed that I become his queen, unfazed by my vampire nature, but I have declined both times.

After experiencing harsh rejection, my sole focus was on protecting my daughter, Annabelle. I knew that being with Lucian would make it challenging, as the Lycans, contrary to popular belief, have a settlement far from the tribes.

Like us, they were outcasts due to their immense strength. I wanted Annabelle to grow up in a more accepting environment, which led me to disguise myself and join one of the tribes. After giving birth to Anna and ensuring she had a werewolf lineage, I went back into hiding.

My lifestyle made it difficult for her to lead a normal life, especially with her early signs and red hair. Rumors spread quickly about her potential power, leading to a hunt for her, prompting me to make her wear a wig.

At the age of eight, I had to part ways with her, a decision that tore me apart, as the grand witch prophesied that she was destined for the man she saved.

For a decade, I remained unaware that Jessica had grown in the shadows and evolved into the grand witch I revered, holding her words in high regard.

Unbeknownst to me, she had ensnared me in her plot to destroy my daughter, but that will be her gravest mistake. Coming at me was not a problem, but for my daughter, I will make her pay. Her ways were so cunning that I never suspected her.

She even cast a spell of protection over Anna to prevent her from thirsting for blood and her aversion to sunlight. But I guess she had no idea what Anna had become by then, and now that she knew, she wanted to destroy her. However, I had already paid the price.

I couldn’t return to the castle where I was formerly the princess because of the protection I sought for Anna. I moved from one cave to another, and now she wants to kill me?

Well, I wasn’t expecting the vampire prince himself to come to my aid at a time like this. Draven had her pinned against the cold walls of the cave. "You dare to lay your cursed hands on our queen?"

"Queen?" Both Jessica and I echoed. She had disguised herself so well that I couldn’t make her out all these years she pretended to be my friend, but being a queen was something new.

I wasn’t born into the royal family but earned the position due to my hard work. King Silas, Draven’s father, conferred it on me.

"Yes, my dad passed and has chosen you to be the queen until your daughter accepts the position," he revealed, fear took over me.

This is exactly what I wanted to avoid, which is why I refused to return. The only peaceful and acceptable community, despite being engulfed in wars, are the werewolf tribes, and as long as Anna could survive there, I wanted that for her.

"I don’t want to be queen, and my daughter will not be either," I declared firmly.

Anger flashed in his eyes as he released Jessica, who promptly disappeared as she had appeared before.

"Your daughter is my mate, and yet she refuses to accept me. Annabella, remember all my father did for you. I love your daughter and I swear to protect her if you can help me win her heart," he pleaded, leaving me confused.

Alpha Zach should have found Annabelle by now, but the last time we spoke, he hadn’t. When he inquired about her name, I wanted to tell him, but Jessica had made it a rule after giving Annabelle the elixir that her name should not be mentioned.

If I had known it was her, I would not have obeyed her rules, but now I didn’t even know how to reach Alpha Zach. Besides his name, I knew nothing else, including his tribe.

"It’s complicated, Prince Draven. Annabelle saved Alpha Zach’s life, and now their destinies are intertwined. She may have multiple mates, but if she doesn’t become Alpha Zach’s Luna, the witches will take over the world."

My words seemed to have a profound impact on him, as his already pale face grew even paler. "There must be another way. I met her at the Lunar Echoes tribe, and Alpha Zion was very kind to her. If you ask me, there might be something going on between them," he revealed, and fear consumed me.

Annabelle and Zach are meant to fulfill a prophecy. Theirs is not just a love story but destiny. So why didn’t he find her? What went wrong?

For a moment, I forgot about my aversion to sunlight and stepped out of the cave, feeling my skin burn in the most painful way, forcing me back inside.

"We are making progress, you know," Prince Draven said calmly. He bore a striking resemblance to his father, and despite living for over a century, he looked like a twenty-year-old. "What are you talking about?"

He took my hand and placed something in it. "Rub this cream over your body and come with me to the palace. I’m allergic to ramshackle places like this."

I wanted to refuse, but after realizing all that had happened, he was the only one I could count on.
