Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake -
Chapter 30: A chimera (Annabelle)
Chapter 30: A chimera (Annabelle)
Beta Madai was acting strange after Alpha Zion left, and I was also feeling weird. How could I feel a mate bond when I didn’t have a wolf?
My mind was clouded as Beta Madai led me through the farm, which spanned around a thousand acres of Vitis. There were many omegas working with the harvesting machines, and I felt a strong desire to help.
"Can I assist them?" I asked.
Beta Madai sighed. "You are supposed to choose the right department to work in. If you decide to work here, you will need to be a supervisor. There are many sectors, and I recommend that you explore all of them before making your decision."
Now I understood why the Luna Echoes Tribe was so prosperous. These grapes would bring a significant income to the tribe.
"Alright, let’s go."
As we walked to the next sector, he informed me, "Your salary will also be based on the position you choose, but I cannot disclose it until after you make your decision."
Initially, I needed a lot of money to search for my parents, but now, a heavy burden rests on my shoulders. I have a feeling that higher ranks will offer better pay, but for some reason, my strength is required at lower levels.
Even the harvesting machines seem slow compared to my abilities. "Beta Madai, I would like to work with the harvesters. If we finish early, I can assist in other areas."
A look of displeasure crossed his face, and he seemed ready to refuse when a sudden mindlink interrupted my thoughts. Alpha Zion’s behavior was odd, with his questions and mention of the vampire prince unsettling me.
My mate, a vampire? I had believed the moon goddess had paired me with the man I rescued, but perhaps my animosity towards him influenced this. Could this bond be the reason for my inability to shift?
’Alpha, I would like to see him,’ I replied to his mindlink. He sighed before responding, ’Tell Madai to bring you to the gate.’
Upon arriving, Madia left and I was surprised to see a much more handsome man than I had expected. He was covered from head to toe, most probably to protect himself from the sun’s harsh rays but his face was quite attractive.
Hastening to Alpha Zion, he pulled me protectively to his side, filling my heart with warmth. "Here she is. You are free to ask what you want, but don’t ask me to leave her with you because that will never happen."
Feeling protected was comforting, but the vampire prince extended his hand towards me. "I’m Draven, prince of vampires, and you are my queen."
The situation felt awkward. While there was a bond between us, something didn’t feel right, so I hesitated to shake his hand. "Excuse me?"
The last thing I wanted was to become a vampire and rely on blood for survival.
"You are sensing the bond," he pointed out, and I nodded in agreement. "Yes, but I’m not coming with you. This is my home," I said firmly, noticing the disappointment in his eyes, though it quickly faded.
"It’s okay. Our bond isn’t as strong since you’re a chimera. I’ll wait for you, and if you change your mind, the castle doors will always be open. Just mention your name," he reassured me.
His revelation sparked my curiosity, and I interrupted him as he turned to leave. "Wait."
He halted abruptly and turned back to face me. "What do you mean by chimera?"
The term was unfamiliar to me, and before he could explain, Alpha Zion interjected, "What he means is that you are akin to a hybrid but with three or more DNAs from various species."
Draven nodded and smiled at me. "None of the DNA strands are dominant, which gives you a toxic scent. You are unique, and the cause of many events."
Hoping to find relief by understanding the reason behind my toxic scent, I only found myself more confused.
"Do you have any idea about the DNAs I carry?"
He glanced at Alpha Zion briefly before turning his focus back to me. "If you agree to be with me, I can reveal more to you. You know where to find me."
With that, he hurriedly left. "He seems afraid. I think he may have taken on more than he can handle because he can’t deal with you," Alpha Zion explained.
"I heard that," Draven’s voice echoed from a distance. "I need to learn more about her and gain the strength to win her over."
"Damn it!" Alpha Zion cursed, but Draven had already disappeared. Just when I thought things were starting to make sense, they took a turn for the worse.
"Let’s head back," Alpha Zion said, leading me back to my place of residence. I still couldn’t claim it as mine because it seemed too good to be true. Alpha Zion stayed behind to prepare supper for me, ensuring that I ate before he left, giving me a warm hug along with a warning. "Don’t be late for training and don’t expend too much energy to arouse suspicion about your kind."
It made sense to maintain a sense of mystery surrounding my existence, and surprisingly, training went smoothly. With his presence, everyone treated me kindly, and it felt like a family.
He then took me to the wine factory and appointed me as the assistant production manager, despite my lack of experience. "Here, you don’t need to use speed to avoid suspicion," he explained. Warmth filled my heart.
His actions were aimed at protecting me. The salary exceeded my expectations, but two weeks later, strange things started happening to me. I developed unusual cravings for carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, beetroots, or anything red or orange.
Keeping these cravings to myself since I could afford them, the situation took a turn for the worse when I passed out during training, only to wake up to the scent of herbs. I found myself back at the healer’s familiar hut, with Alpha Zion’s angry gaze upon me.
"Bella, how could you do this?" he exclaimed.
Confusion clouded my mind for a moment. "I don’t understand," I replied, his gaze filled with disappointment. What he said next left me completely paralyzed.
