Crimson Moon Redemption: My Alpha's Brutal Mistake
Chapter 28: I don’t want him (Annabelle)

Chapter 28: I don’t want him (Annabelle)

After all these years, this conversation helped me understand why the Alpha my mother promised hadn’t found me yet, but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions. If Alpha Zion’s testimony completed my puzzle, then I wouldn’t need to hide it from him, especially since he was the only one supporting me.

Even though Jack betrayed me, Alpha Zion went against leadership principles to save me, and the least I could do was tell him the truth.

As for the warrior, I made a promise to never mention his name, but the fact that I was accessing his power through the mark concerned me.

What if it was harmful to his health? If only there was a way to meet and communicate with him, or if I could stop tapping into his power. If I manage to avoid getting injured, he wouldn’t have to endure the pain.

"Are you certain about this?" he asked sternly. "If you lie to me, I..." I interrupted abruptly, "No, I always keep my word."

He appeared skeptical at first but proceeded to speak. "I saw a woman with red hair named Bella."

"It’s Arabella," I interjected, realizing my mistake too late as his gaze locked onto mine. "What did you say?"

"My mother is Arabella, and I’m the red-haired girl they speak of, but Alpha, I didn’t know the man I saved was Alpha Zach. My mom told me that the man I saved would become an Alpha and find me," I confessed, tears welling in the corners of my eyes.

Alpha Zion sat in silence, processing my words. "I didn’t even know anything about the elixir, except that it heals any sickness," I added. He shook his head sadly and sat on the floor. I sat next to him as he questioned,

"The girl who saved Zach has natural red hair, and he went through great lengths to find her. I heard that if he doesn’t find her by the time he turns thirty, a curse will afflict his tribe."

A curse? There were no visible signs of it, but now I understood why Kari desired my blood.

"I have natural red hair, but my mom advised me to conceal it for my safety. I used to wear a wig, but I lost it and resorted to dyeing my hair with herbs. When Dina discovered this, she assisted me with the correct herbs," I disclosed, and he gazed at me.

"Isn’t that harmful?"

"She mentioned it could last a year, but warned against repeating it to avoid damaging my hair," I explained. There was no need to keep it a secret from him.

"Wigs are uncommon among she-wolves, but we can create one using your dyed hair to allow your natural hair to regrow," he proposed, and I was intrigued. "Sounds good. When can we do it?"

He chuckled. "Don’t get too excited. It will take at least a month, but when ready, I will send the expert to collect your hair. That way, it will feel natural."

I didn’t know how to thank him for all his kindness towards me. "Thank you very much, Alpha Zion, but now I understand. They could have used a spell to change her DNA to mine."

"What are you talking about?" Alpha Zion asked. I regained myself and informed him.

"I understand why Kari wanted my blood. She’s pretending to be me and suspects I’m the one she’s impersonating, so she wants my blood to confirm it. If it’s true, she could use it to transform her DNA."

Alpha Zion stared at me like I just cracked the world’s greatest puzzle. In that moment, he seemed like a best friend, an elder brother, or someone who cared too much.

Either way, he had my profound respect. "Now that you’ve figured it out, we have to make sure that she never finds it," he said seriously. I nodded.

The only way they will have my blood will be to draw it from my dead body, but Alpha Zion said something that disturbed me.

"The elixir of immortality, which my father has sought all his life, possesses incredible power. In Zach’s case, half of its potency cured him of the poison, but it does not grant him immortality. Despite this, his invincibility remains unchallenged."

A sharp pain pierced my heart as I realized that the man I rescued had betrayed me by subjecting me to the brazen bull. He turned out to be the Alpha I had longed for, hoping he would rescue me from my suffering.

Tears welled up in my eyes as Alpha Zion inquired, "Should I inform him? He may spare you if he knows it’s you."

Since my mother sent me away at the age of eight, I had yearned to reunite with this Alpha, unaware of his ruthless nature and his engagement to Kari.

The feelings I once harbored for him and the ache I felt seeing him with Kari all pointed to one conclusion: he had chosen her over me. If not for the intervention of that warrior, the rogues would have annihilated me. I could now let go of the hope of finding that Alpha to claim me and focus on helping the Lunar Echoes tribe become the best.

"He will never believe it," I muttered, but he overheard and insisted, "he will."

Even if he did believe me, I had no desire to be with him. Alpha Zach shattered my happiness, my cheerful demeanor, and my determination when he subjected me to that brazen bull.

"Even if he does, I don’t want him. He and Kari make a great pair."

It’s ironic how the elixir I painstakingly obtained to heal him transformed him into the unbeatable monster he is now.

Alpha Zion was about to speak when the gym door opened, revealing Beta Madai with a concerned expression. "Alpha, I’ve been looking for you everywhere and you blocked the mindlink again."

He seemed urgent as he nervously glanced at me, prompting Alpha Zion to inquire, "What’s the urgency? I don’t want to be disturbed."

"Alpha," he whispered something to Alpha Zion, who then looked at me with a peculiar expression, causing me to ask, "What’s wrong?"
