Chapter 73: I’ll be good I promise

As they stood in Suho’s hospital room, the atmosphere felt heavy with uncertainty. Haeun glanced at Yeongsoo, who was frowning slightly, clearly wrestling with his own thoughts.

"Suho, we need to head back home," Haeun said softly, trying to keep his voice steady despite the tugging at his heart. "You need to rest too."

Suho’s eyes widened, a mix of alarm and desperation flashing across his face. "No! I don’t want to stay here!" He tightened his grip on Haeun’s arm, shaking his head vehemently. "Please, Haeun-Hyung! Don’t leave me here!"

Haeun’s heart sank at the raw fear in Suho’s voice. "But Suho, this is a hospital. You’re supposed to be here until you get better."

"I’m better!" Suho insisted, his voice rising. "I don’t have anyone else! You’re all I have!" His eyes were wide and pleading, tears welling up as he searched Haeun’s face for understanding.

Yeongsoo stepped closer, his voice firm but gentle. "Suho, we can’t take you with us. You need to stay and finish your recovery."

"Please! I don’t want to be alone! I don’t want to go back to an empty home!" Suho’s voice broke, and Haeun felt a pang of sympathy.

Haeun exchanged a glance with Yeongsoo, who sighed heavily. There was something heartbreaking about Suho’s words, something that resonated deep within him. "I don’t want you to be alone either, Suho," Haeun said softly. "But what can we do?"

"Take me with you! I’ll be good, I promise!" Suho’s voice was desperate now, and he looked between Haeun and Yeongsoo, with a fierce determination in his eyes. "You can’t just leave me here! I want to go home with you!"

The nurse stepped in, her expression sympathetic. "Suho is well enough to be discharged, but the decision to take him home rests with you two."

Haeun glanced at Yeongsoo again, feeling torn. He could see the wheels turning in Yeongsoo’s mind, weighing the options.

He knew if he told Yeongsoo to let him take Suho home he would agree but he decided to let Yeongsoo make that decision.

"Suho, if you come with us, it’s a big responsibility," Yeongsoo said slowly, trying to reason with him. "We can’t just play around all the time."

"I don’t care!" Suho exclaimed, frustration evident in his voice. "I just don’t want to be alone! I’ll do whatever you want! Just don’t leave me here!"

Haeun’s heart ached at Suho’s words. "Okay, okay," he said finally, pulling Suho into a gentle embrace. "If it’s what you really want, then we’ll take you home with us."

Suho let out a small gasp, then buried his face in Haeun’s shoulder, relief washing over him. "Really? You mean it?"

"Yes, really. But you have to promise us that you’ll try to be a good boy and not cause too much trouble," Haeun said, a small smile breaking through his worried expression.

"I promise! I’ll be good!" Suho replied, his voice muffled against Haeun’s shoulder.

Yeongsoo stood nearby, arms crossed, trying to suppress a smile at the sight of the two. "Just remember, you’ll still have to follow some rules, Suho. No more throwing tantrums or scaring people away."

Suho pulled back, grinning widely. "Deal!"

As they prepared to leave Suho’s hospital room, the nurse entered with a clipboard and a warm smile. "Alright, everyone. I just need to finalize a few things for Suho’s discharge."

Haeun nodded, still feeling a mix of relief and concern. "What do we need to do?"

The nurse explained, "First, I’ll need to go over Suho’s aftercare instructions with you. Since he’s officially cleared to leave, I’ll provide you with a list of medications, any follow-up appointments, and things to watch out for."

Suho bounced on his feet, clearly impatient but trying to maintain his composure. "I just want to go home!" he said, glancing back at Haeun and Yeongsoo, who exchanged a knowing look.

Haeun smiled gently at Suho. "We’re almost there, just a few more minutes."

The nurse began detailing Suho’s care instructions. "Make sure he continues to rest, and he’ll need to take these medications regularly," she said, handing Haeun a small bag with the prescriptions. "And here’s a chart to track his progress. Any changes in mood or behavior, don’t hesitate to call us."

Haeun nodded, absorbing every word. "Got it. Thank you."

The nurse smiled again, her eyes softening as she looked at Suho. "You’ve come a long way, Suho. I’m proud of you. Remember, if you need anything, we’re just a call away."

Suho beamed, his earlier aloofness replaced by a shy grin. "Thanks auntie nurse! I’ll be good, I promise!" He turned to Haeun, his grip on his hand tightening. "Right, Haeun-Hyung?"

"Right," Haeun said, glancing at Yeongsoo, who was watching Suho with a mixture of affection and concern.

After the nurse completed the paperwork, she led them to the front desk to finalize the discharge process. Haeun held Suho’s hand firmly, feeling a sense of protection and relief wash over him.

As they approached the desk, Yeongsoo stepped ahead to handle the paperwork. "I’ll take care of the discharge forms," he said, glancing back at Suho and Haeun. "Just keep an eye on him."

Suho, now bouncing slightly on his feet, watched Haeun with wide eyes. "Are we really going home, Hyung?"

"Yeah, we are," Haeun replied, a smile spreading across his face. "You’ll be living with us now."

Suho’s face lit up. "Really? I can’t wait!" He started to fidget, excitement bubbling over.

Yeongsoo signed the necessary forms, glancing back at the two. "Just remember, you have to follow some house rules, Suho."

"I know!" Suho said, crossing his arms. "No throwing tantrums! I promise"

Once the discharge process was complete, Yeongsoo motioned for them to follow him. "Let’s get you out of here, kid."

Suho practically skipped out of the hospital, hand in hand with Haeun, while Yeongsoo followed behind, shaking his head with a bemused smile.

As they stepped outside, the fresh air greeted them, and Suho took a deep breath, his expression transforming into one of pure joy. "It feels so good to be out! Are we really going home?" He asked yet again

"Yup, just a little ride and we’ll be there," Haeun said, squeezing Suho’s hand.
