Chapter 56: Look at me, I’m RICH!!
Haeun walked out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped snugly around his waist, his skin still glistening with moisture. He caught sight of Yeongsoo, who was casually fastening his wristwatch, clearly waiting for him to come out.
"Ah, you’re done," Yeongsoo said with a grin, his eyes shamelessly admiring the "artwork" he’d left on Haeun’s body. Even though Haeun had managed to cover his neck and face, his chest, belly, and back still bore the evidence of Yeongsoo’s earlier attention.
Haeun scowled playfully, running a hand over his now-concealed neck. "Yes, and I wouldn’t have taken so long if it weren’t for you and your ridiculous hickeys!"
Yeongsoo chuckled, unfazed, grabbing his coat from the back of a chair as if nothing was out of the ordinary. "I didn’t hear you complaining earlier."
Haeun shot him a look, his lips twitching. "That’s because I didn’t realize you were planning to turn me into your canvas!"
"Oh, come on," Yeongsoo smirked, his gaze softening as he admired Haeun’s annoyed expression. "You wear them well."
Rolling his eyes, Haeun moved to grab his clothes, hoping to salvage what was left of his dignity before they had to face his parents. Just as he started pulling on his shirt, Yeongsoo’s voice broke the comfortable silence.
"Your umma called a minute ago," Yeongsoo said with a smirk. "He wanted to remind you that skipping dinner isn’t an option. If we don’t show up, he’s bringing dinner to us."
Haeun groaned loudly, slumping onto the bed. "As if I needed more bullshit today. What am I supposed to say when they notice the concealer or—God forbid—one of these marks shows through?"
Yeongsoo leaned against the doorframe, a smug grin still plastered on his face. "Tell them it’s a new skincare routine. Vitamin D therapy, maybe?"
".."
FUCK YOU!!
As they made their way to the garage, Haeun was still fidgeting with his shirt collar, trying to ensure none of the hickeys showed through. He glanced over at Yeongsoo, who had an annoyingly calm expression on his face, as if they weren’t about to face an interrogation from his parents.
When they reached the garage, Yeongsoo paused, eyeing the row of sleek cars lined up before them. "You know," he said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "since we’re meeting your parents tonight, we should switch up our ride."
Haeun raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean, switch it up?"
Without answering immediately, Yeongsoo casually pulled out a set of keys from the case and dangled them in front of Haeun’s face. The familiar logo caught Haeun’s attention instantly—Tesla . "I think we should take the Model S today. It’s a little more... subtle for the family meeting."
Haeun stared at the pristine white Tesla Model S parked at the far end of the garage, its sleek design and minimalist aesthetic practically screaming an understated luxury. "Subtle? Yeong, that’s a Tesla. It screams, ’Look at me, I’m rich!’"
"..."
"I am rich and I want your parents to know I can take care of you regardless of whether you become dirt poor or lose your company—though that’s never going to happen.."
"..."
Haeun huffed, following behind him, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "You’re trying too hard," he muttered, shaking his head. "But fine, let’s go with your ’Safe’ choice."
As they settled into the car, the modest design layout felt polished and soothing. The dashboard lit up with a soft glow, and Haeun couldn’t help but marvel at the car’s quiet hum as it powered on.
"You’re sure about this?" Haeun asked, raising an eyebrow as he glanced over at Yeongsoo, who was adjusting his seatbelt.
"First impressions matter," Yeongsoo said with a wink, tapping the touchscreen to navigate the route. "Besides, this way I can show them I care about the environment. Can’t hurt, right?"
Haeun chuckled, shaking his head. "Ah! You should really meet my parents, after this one encounter you’ll know where you stand."
As the car glided smoothly down the road, Haeun’s earlier nerves began to settle slightly. He leaned back in his seat, taking a deep breath, though he still couldn’t shake the thought of his parent’s inevitable questions about their relationship.
"Does your umma know?"
Haeun nodded "He does, he know everything including the baby.."
Yeongsoo tightened his grip on the steering wheel for a moment, processing Haeun’s words. "Then there’s no use in denying anything," he finally said, his voice calm and assured. "I’ll answer their questions head-on and straightforward."
Haeun turned to look at him, searching his face for any sign of hesitation, but all he saw was quiet determination. "You make it sound easy," Haeun muttered, a small, nervous laugh escaping his lips.
"I don’t see the point in complicating things," Yeongsoo replied, offering a reassuring smile. "Your parents deserve honesty. If they have concerns, I’ll address them. Besides," he added with a teasing glint in his eyes, "I’m irresistible. They’ll love me."
Haeun snorted, shaking his head. "I wouldn’t be so sure. My father has... some expectations."
"I’ll meet them," Yeongsoo said confidently, turning onto the long road that led to Sangnam.
As they drove along the winding roads of Sangnam, the scenery became more isolated, with larger gaps between the estates. Haeun glanced out the window, watching the sun dip below the hills, casting a golden glow over the landscape.
"My parent’s house is a bit secluded" Haeun said, breaking the silence in the car. "They didn’t want to be around too many people, so they chose the last house on the hilltop. It’s a little far, it’ll take about five more minutes."
Yeongsoo nodded, glancing over at Haeun with a small smile. "That sounds about right. They value their privacy, I take it?"
"Yes," Haeun replied, his tone thoughtful. "They always said they liked peace and quiet after all the years in business. It’s where they feel most comfortable." He leaned back in his seat, his fingers drumming lightly on his lap as they neared the house. "I’m just hoping they’ll feel comfortable with you."
