Cosmic Paragon -
Chapter 111 - 110: Magnetic Mountains!
Chapter 111: Chapter 110: Magnetic Mountains!
Drake finished from school, and went to the Obsidian Palace branch in Sanctuary city.
Since the lock down on the academy had been raised, anybody could leave whenever.
Drake arrived at the office where Anna was at, and went in after knocking. He found her dressed in a beautiful black dress, looking as stunning as ever.
You had to admit, magic power was one hell of an expert, when it came to making women beautiful. Not one mage that Drake knew did not look extremely pretty.
Anna smiled apologetically when she saw Drake, Sorry about yesterday.
Drake just shook his head and replied, It was nothing, I liked watching them like that. They’re kids and this is the first time they were truly let out of home, so they were bound to be a bit excited.
What about you? Anna asked.
Me? The question left him stumped a little. Pain flashed through Drake’s eyes for a split second, but then it disappeared as he crushed it. Then he shook his head and said. I out grew that a while ago.
Anna saw it, but before she could say anything. Drake dismissed the topic, and started tell her about himself joining the preliminaries of the Grand Mage Tournament.
Anna listened and nodded, and then she asked. Paragon huh? Are you sure you want to use that moniker? there were hidden implications behind that name. And it came with a lot of karma.
Why not? I like the name, and it’s kinda domineering. Drake knew there was some karma behind the name, but he thought it was just a name at the end of the day. There was no need getting paranoid about it.
Plus, he really was satisfied with the name; it gave everyone that heard it the impression of a Badass.
Anna just shook her head, as he walked out of her office.
Drake left the Obsidian palace building, and went to the Arena shortly after his conversation with Anna.
Upon arriving at the Arena, he was welcomed by the sight of the giant structure with the giant knights. Drake didn’t spend too long admiring the view before going in.
Since he was already registered as a contestant, he didn’t need to waste any time at the booths and directly went to the door that led to the waiting area.
Drake immediately activated the challenge, when he was done putting on his armor.
The opponent was soon selected, and Drake was teleported to the Battle zone.
Weapon: Random!
Map: Magnetic Mountains!
Drake didn’t really care who his opponent would be. Since he had already started choosing random weapon, he would stick to it. He did not even wait to see the opponent first. After making his selection, the opponent arrived.
Baker!
That was the name of the opponent. He wore a full set of heavy armor and carried two large shields.
He was a heavy soldier that focused on defense. He was the worst kind of opponent for a Blade Dancer. Heavy soldiers were heavy hitters; their fighting style relied mainly on power. And the best way to deal with heavy soldiers was to use heavy artillery.
The weapon selection was over and Drake’s weapon appeared in front of him.
It was a bow and a quiver filled with arrows.
The audiences that were watching instantly burst into laughter.
Someone in the stands laughed and shouted, Haha, that’s what you get for acting arrogant and choosing random weapon.
Arrogant punk serves you right. another laughed.
Somebody else said from beside him. A Bow and arrows. Whoever is in charge of selecting the weapons is really funny. If it were a cannon it would have been alright but what good will a simple arrow do against a Heavy soldier and not just any ordinary soldier but a shield guard? This fight is hopeless.
And the person seated next to him nodded in agreement. This is awful, Bow and arrows are weak against a Shield Guard.
But the guy snorted when he heard them. Hey, what are you saying? There’s no such thing as a weak weapon. There can only be a weak wielder.
How can you call him a weak wielder? Don’t you see his moniker is Paragon? It proves that he is an absolute master. He must have mastered every weapon or fighting style to perfection. A friend that was seated beside him joked.
Pfft, More like he has mastered losing to perfection. Hehe...
A weak weapon and a weak user, the result was decided long before the fight has even begun.
All kinds of jeering remarks were being made by the audience.
You had to admit that Paragon was very famous now or maybe it should be called infamous. Most of the people that were watching this fight were against Paragon.
This was because Paragon had drawn a lot of resentment to himself, after his display on his first appearance. Especially thanks to his fight against Julia.
As a descendant of the great Blade Dancer family, the Shadow family, as well as a national beauty; Julia had many fans and many worshipers. So Paragon defeating her earned him all their resentment.
In a special seating area in the Bleachers reserved for combatants, the figure of a beautiful young lady was seated.
This was Julia Shadow. After the fight against Paragon yesterday, she was determined to see what his strength really was like.
She remembered that Paragon had chosen random weapon against her and that meant that the weapon he had used against her was probably not his best. And that means he did not go all out against her.
He had defeated her at her best without going all out. This had Julia curious about this guy. She wanted to know who he was, and what his full strength was.
’What would he look like when he was going all out?’ that was the question on her mind.
Either ways there was also something else on her mind, it was the chosen map.
Magnetic Mountains!
Magnetic Mountains was a special terrain that restrained Space Series mages. That is because the effect of the Magnetic field of the mountains on the surrounding space, did not allow teleportation.
...
Drake didn’t care what the audience thought about him, and reached for the bow and arrows.
Baker saw that his opponent had selected random weapon, and felt dissatisfaction in his heart.
When he saw the result of the random weapon selection, he couldn’t help but frown.
I will give you a chance to change your weapon. Baker hollered at Drake. He was a straight forward guy and didn’t want to take advantage of his opponent.
Drake was a bit startled by his opponents chivalry. A different person would have been more than happy to see the enemy being weakened, but he was willing to give Drake another chance at his options.
That righteous upstanding heart was rare these days.
But Drake shook his head and said, Thank you for the offer, but I chose random weapons myself of my own accord.
He declined the offer politely. Baker however didn’t take it as that, but thought that his opponent was only feeling prideful.
Baker shook his head. There is no need for this. I understand you are trying to maintain your pride, but this is the battlefield. Pride will do you no good here, it will only kill you faster. he said.
He wanted to give Paragon a way out.
It’s alright these will do. Paragon said lightly.
Baker’s face immediately darkened, even the calmest person had a temper. He was trying to help his opponent, but the guy kept turning away his goodwill.
A thought propped up in Baker’s mind, ’This guy is looking down on me!’
Alright, since you want to be stubborn then suit yourself.
Drake knew Baker had misunderstood him, and he wanted to explain himself. But then he decided against it.
Battle Start!
BANG!
Baker slammed his two large shields together; then he lowered himself slightly and got into the basic defensive stance.
Drake was still getting the feel of his bow. The balance, the weight...
Drake took a deep breath, then in what seemed like a single fluid motion. He drew an arrow from his quiver knocked it, then fired it straight at the armored heavy soldier.
BANG!
The arrow slammed into Bakers shield and instantly shattered upon impact.
Julia’s eyes sharpened when she saw this. Good form! He must have really good training in archery. she whispered.
Jeremy who was also seated somewhere in the crowd stands nodded. This Paragon guy is definitely not simple; from taking out the arrow, to knocking it, to drawing the arrow and finally firing it. It was all done in one fluent motion. his eyes were glowing.
It looks like I struck gold this time. But will it be enough against his current opponent. he mumbled lowly.
Baker stared at his opponent from thirty meters away. He face was somber, and he didn’t dare to look down on Paragon. Especially, after that shot.
As a trained soldier, he knew just what kind of expertise an archer would need to be, to be capable of firing such a perfect shot. But while he was taking the fight seriously, it did not mean he was afraid.
You have good archery skills. However, it will take more than just good if you want to fight against me. Baker called out.
Drake gave a mental command and the power of the stars rushed out of the seal.
’Eyes of Order!’
As the stars swirled within his eyes, Baker’s information came up.
Name: Baker
Age: 17
Cultivation level: 2 Star Mage
Battle Power: 21,010
Affinity: Barrier Power
Drake drew another arrow, and magic power surged into the arrow as he knocked it on the bow. He whispered softly, and the Virgo Constellation shone with blinding radiance.
’Fire power!’
Everyone watched as Paragon drew the string of his bow until it curved into a full moon, the tip of the arrow suddenly glowed with a radiant light then he released.
The arrow instantly disappeared. It made piercing sounds as it traveled through the wind and flew at lightning speed at the target. Drake called out softly.
Flame Power: Exploding arrow!
The next instant, after that seemingly simple radiant arrow crashed into Baker’s Shield. The arrow shattered into bits, then exploded.
BOOM!
