Contractually Yours: The Billionaire's Unlikely Bride
Chapter 69: BRIAR’S COUNTERMEASURES

Chapter 69: Chapter 69: BRIAR’S COUNTERMEASURES

She ignored most of them and clicked on a certain chat with the other party, which was saved as B.

B was her friend, a close friend of hers, and someone she had known for a few years now.

Seeing the number of messages, the other had left, a smile blossomed on her face as she felt very fortunate.

Without people like her friend, B, she would have fallen apart ages ago.

[B: Girl, you nearly died.]

[B: Let’s not take such risks like that in the future. Do you know how scared I was when I operated on you?]

[B: Thank goodness you are alive. I have informed the others. They are worried about you. I hope that you wake up soon.]

[B: I will be attending your husband’s birthday banquet. I will take a closer look at him and see if he is worthy.]

When Briar read up to that point, her eyes flashed with interest, wondering what kind of madness Briar had during the banquet.

Unlike her best friend Vivian from next door, her friend B and the others were the kinds of friends that they shared everything with. At least anything and everything that could put them in trouble.

Of course, they all harbored their secrets, but they knew enough that could send each person to prison for a very long time.

They were united and bonded by faith, love, crime, and passion. And they were the best people she could ever befriend in her life.

Knowing her friend, B, Briar was curious and eager to know what she did. Therefore, she continued with her reading.

[B: Hehe, I took justice for you. I have been itching to give that b*** a beating since years ago!]

When Briar read that, a smile blossomed on her face as she pictured the b*** in question. There were so many of them, to be honest, but there was one person that she had been eager to give a lesson and yet couldn’t.

[B: I saw that green tea b****, Anna. Looking arrogant as always. When I saw her, I just got so pissed that I followed her to the restroom and gave her a good beating. Hehehe, I should have recorded a video. But anyway, I taught her a lesson, and she was groaning in pain. You should have seen her!]

"Hahaha," Briar couldn’t help but laugh heartily though her volume was on the lower side.

If Logan caught her on the phone and laughing instead of sleeping, that would be bad. However, she couldn’t contain herself upon knowing that Anna was beaten.

The thought of Anna being confused as to why she got beaten made her wish she was there to witness such a drama.

[B: I nearly did something to your husband, but thank goodness the family is good.]

’What did the Meyers do for B to reign her anger at them?’ she couldn’t help but be curious.

[B: Haha, you should have seen how Anna was ...]

The messages were simply too many. However, Briar enjoyed reading all of them. Through them, she got to see in her own image how the banquet went and why the Meyers were treating her a bit differently.

Tallying the crucial information from the messages sent by her friend, B, Briar learnt that the Meyers had stripped faces with the Hilary family.

Seeing how they did that meant that the Meyers might have found something very bad about Selena to make them lose face.

From the several things that she knew about Selena that might be found after so many years, it could only be .....

’Wait a minute! How did they find out? I need to find some time to get down there!’ her eyes flickered with a mysterious glint as she thought of that.

However, a smile blossomed on her face shortly after.

She didn’t know what they found, but that was good for her. With how they were treating her, it should be something epic, and something that deserves to be erased, but could they erase her memories?

If it was before, maybe that could have happened. But didn’t they know to never mess with a spiritualist?

As she thought of that, her eyes flashed red for a moment and the items in the bedroom shook as if an earthquake was occurring.

Briar calmed herself after seeing how she was about to lose her cool.

Before knowing which secrets got out, she needed to continue playing the fool. She just hoped that it would be done as soon as possible.

Seeing where her thoughts were going, Briar looked back at her phone and started replying to her messages.

[I am now home and everything is going well so far. And thank you for what you did. I truly appreciate it.]

She sent a reply to B before looking for X.

X was worried about her and her messages showed as such.

[I am fine now. Back at home, so don’t worry.]

After sending the message, she planned on replying to other people, but then a new message pinged. It was from X.

[X: Thank goodness you are fine. Don’t do something tricky and scary like that. We are here if you need help.]

Briar felt warm as she read this message. She understood what X was talking about well. She couldn’t help but feel guilt for her crazy actions.

[I am sorry for worrying you. It was a desperate moment, and some drastic measures were called for. I won’t do it again.]

[X: Um, let’s not do so again. At least it paid off. I can see your family trending everywhere.]

Briar blushed as she read that. She could tell the teasing in that tone and it made her want to punch the other playfully.

[It paid well. However, I can’t help but be worried,] she set aside her happiness and typed seriously.

[X: What’s there to worry about? Isn’t it a done deal?]

Briar sighed dejectedly as she read what her friend X had written. If only it was the end, then it would be fine.

[It’s not. There is more to come, but I am not sure what exactly. Which is why I need you to help me with something.]

[X: Go ahead and tell me. As long as it has anything to do with the internet, I have your back.]

A smile blossomed on Briar’s face when she saw that.

[Good. and thank you in advance.]

[X: No problem.]

Briar then typed her problem to her friend in detail, a frown on her face. She made sure that she explained everything and didn’t forget a single thing.

After sending the message, there was no reply from X for a while before it finally came.

[X: Okay, leave this to me. I will not let you down. Just don’t do anything foolish during this period. Remember to be calm no matter what.]

[Um. I will.]

[X: If there are any issues, contact the others. If they aren’t available, the CIRCLE is there. They would offer a hand. You remember it, right?]

Briar chuckled lightly as she looked at that message. Why was X treating her as if she was a child who didn’t know all that?

However, she felt glad that she had such a friend who would constantly remind her of such.

[I know. I won’t forget.]

[X: Good. I need to go. Duty calls.]

Briar didn’t keep X for long. She understood her friend’s job and the other things that she needed to do. It was already good that they chatted for a long time like that.

Pidi-pada.

As she was about to reply to a few more messages, her ears twitched and she froze for a moment.

Due to her special constitution, and the perks of being a spiritualist, her senses were now hyper. Despite the strong material used to block noise from the outside, Briar could hear footsteps approaching.

Only one person dared to come to the master bedroom, and it was the owner. Knowing that Logan was coming back, Briar switched off her phone pretty fast and returned it to the bedside table before tucking herself into the covers.

By the time the door opened, the familiar soft snoring welcomed Logan.

’She is still sleeping!’ he smilingly thought as he walked into the room, heading to the closet to change his clothes.
