Chapter 216: Chapter 216: PANDORA BOX FINALLY OPENED 2
Briar wasn’t willing to keep that wild seed in her. The thought of raising a child from her rapist, Briar abhorred the child with a thought. As a result, she took some herbs after following Mammy Adonai. She knew several herbs. It’s just that she nearly lost her life after aborting that wild seed.
It was then that Mammy Adonai finally knew what was happening to her. Briar remembered how sad and in pain Mammy Adonai was when she learnt of that.
However, she still helped her with the post-treatment however, a lot of damage had been done.
Because she was young and didn’t know the measurements, Briar used too many herbs which damaged her womb.
Although Mammy Adonai later saved her, her womb was weakened. She could no longer carry a child to full term in the future. She would die if she did so.
Back then, because of her calling and how as a future spiritualist if she accepted her calling wouldn’t need to marry or have children, and no more effort was put into treating her further.
Besides, she was certain that falling in love wouldn’t happen, so it didn’t matter. Besides, what kind of child would she have and raise when her own childhood was that messy?
When Raine listened up to that point, her chest was stuffy, her eyes were red and her head was aching.
By now, she knew that Briar was narrating her own story. It was more vivid than the scraps she heard previously.
Seeing the pain in Briar, Raine forgot for a moment that they were on opposite sides and felt pitiful and sorry for Briar for experiencing so much at a young age.
However, the story continued, and it sent shivers down her spine, making her regret for the umpteenth time offending a person who once went to hell before.
"With my life shattered before it could even start, I thought to myself that I couldn’t continue to live like that and let that bastard terrorize me for the rest of my life," Briar laughed sinisterly as she recalled the second secret which used to be locked in the Pandora box which she sincerely hoped to never open but because of Raine, it got opened.
She even dared to expose it to Logan. What did she expect her to do?
Such a person who exposes what should remain locked must suffer the consequences.
"So, one day, on my way from work, he came to me again like he always does. This time, I was prepared. I let him drag me into the forest thinking that he was going to have his way with me again but, tche.... He never expected to experience what I gave him that day!" Briar’s lips curled upwards as she looked at Raine.
Raine shuddered as she connected the dots. If she wasn’t mistaken, that should be the day that Moses last saw his vagabond friend. He firmly believed Briar was murdered.
To think that his hypothesis was true. He would be happy in his grave if he knew, but too bad for the two of them, as no one would believe their words.
Seeing how Briar was confessing everything openly like that, Raine knew that Briar was confident about getting away with that, and that was surely the truth.
"I slammed his head with rocks and pounded him until he wasn’t moving ...."
If she wanted to get rid of that bastard, killing him was the only option for Briar. No one knew what was happening except for Mammy Adonai, who gave her some knockout drugs, which helped greatly.
She poured out all her grievances that day and made sure that he wouldn’t wake up ever again, but that was where she ended up pulling another person in, knowing the deadly secret that had always kept her on edge.
Never in a million years did Briar think that Benjamin suspected something and followed her that day. He witnessed everything, and honestly, she was scared. For a moment, she thought of dealing with Benjamin as well. She still had some drugs on her. As long as she used them, no one would know.
But who would have thought that he would go down on his knees, crying and begging for forgiveness? He was sorry for not knowing sooner and letting her suffer for a long time.
Benjamin helped her to get rid of the body, making the two of them accomplices, if the matter ever comes to light. That was why when she heard that someone would spill the beans, she thought of Benjamin first. Thankfully, he didn’t betray her till the very end.
After dealing with her rapist, Briar had nightmares constantly. After all, killing someone wasn’t something to take lightly. But thankfully, there was Mammy Adonai and her brother, who continued to support her despite the blood on her hands.
However, staying in that place no longer felt safe for her. She wanted to find a way to leave there for good and it so happened that when she was about to turn fifteen, Selena appeared in her life.
Selena, who was riddled by sexually transmitted illness and looking for a spiritualist to heal her since she didn’t want to visit the hospital, became her way out.
She needed someone to brew medicine and Mammy Adonai recommended her. Thus, the selling of children part which happened in her family.
While to the outsiders, it looked like her greedy parents sold her off, Briar and Mammy Adonai already had everything planned out. Even Benjamin didn’t know about that plan at all.
Anyway, thanks to Selena, Briar escaped from the village and unfortunately fell for Logan at first sight. Which brought back the nightmares of how she might never be able to have a family of her own.
She knew that she was dirty and low for Logan, so she put all her love into raising his children but never thought that Selena was ungrateful. After getting better, she started cheating on Logan and gave him a green hat.
She didn’t want to hurt him, so she ended up keeping the secret. She threatened Selena to stay away from her lover and Briar for a moment believed she did, but found out when Tiana was born that Selena never stopped.
