Chapter 205: Chapter 205: MOTHER AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

[B: Where is she right now?]

[X: In the mall. Don’t worry, we are keeping an eye on her. She won’t go anywhere!]

[G: At the scene. If you succeed, just know that everything will go smoothly.]

[BB: Don’t you dare get hurt too much?]

Briar smiled wryly as she read those messages. Her eyes sting with tears but she couldn’t shed them no matter what. As much as it pained her, this needed to be done. Only then would it be meaningful, despite the pain that was piercing her heart right now.

That was the sad fate she couldn’t escape from the unfortunate day over twelve years ago.

She deleted the chat and locked her phone before closing her eyes for a nap. It was going to be a long day.

When she woke up, over an hour later, she found the car driving into the mall’s parking lot. She wiped her face and drank water to soften her throat.

A while later, the car came to a halt, and the driver alighted and rushed to her side to open the door.

Briar alighted from the car and thanked the driver before looking at the two bodyguards dressed in black who had come to pick her up.

These two were familiar faces she had seen around her mother-in-law, so she went with them as soon as she heard that they were there to pick her up.

The two were like blockheads and didn’t talk at all. So, she was a bit bored on the way and kept on looking around, checking for a familiar person.

Unfortunately, she didn’t see anyone she knew, but that didn’t make her feel panicky at all. After all, she knew that everyone who should be there was there. It was just a matter of time before they came face to face somehow.

After entering the mall, she was brought to the shop where Madam Meyer was waiting for her. It was the shop which dealt with customized wedding gowns as well as readymade ones.

"Mother!" Briar greeted her mother-in-law cheerfully the moment she saw her. Her eyes were literally sparkling.

Madam Meyer, who was seeing her daughter-in-law after days of not seeing her, smiled and nodded with satisfaction.

Although Briar was lacking in terms of background, she possessed a lot of qualities that she liked a lot.

Rather than receiving a scheming daughter-in-law, who would work tirelessly to make things worse between mother and son, Briar wasn’t like that. She loved everyone in the family. Besides, to her, having Briar love her son and grandchildren wholeheartedly, she couldn’t ask for anything.

"How are you?"

"Hehe, okay, mother and yourself?"

"As you can see. Nothing is bothering me as of late."

The two exchanged pleasantries, their conversation very harmonious. It made the people who were going to serve them look closely at Briar.

It was rare to see such a pair of in-laws. It made them curious.

Madam Meyer motioned for Briar to go to the private room where the tailor was waiting to take her measures, and she readily agreed. She really looked forward to having this wedding gown made.

Although she wasn’t getting a dress from overseas, a local dress wouldn’t hurt as well. Since her mother-in-law picked the brand, it meant that they were good. Besides, to her, as long as the gown fits her aesthetics, it doesn’t matter where it comes from.

Briar and her mother-in-law went to the private room, where Madam Meyer sat on the couch with snacks and drinks as she watched Briar getting her measurements taken.

That process didn’t take much of their time. It was done pretty quickly. Maybe it was because the tailor was proficient in his work or something. Anyway, after the measurements were taken, the fascinating part of the day arrived.

Several gowns were brought into the room, and Briar had to try them all. By wearing them, she would be able to pinpoint what she wanted on her wedding dress. It was more of a process of picking the designs she wanted to see.

Once she knew what she wanted, the tailor would do the rest. With that in mind, Briar, who had always dreamt of wearing a wedding gown, readily agreed. She wasn’t just wearing one, but several. How could she turn them down?

So, in the next three hours, Briar was so busy that her head was literally spinning and Madam Meyer’s mouth never stopped praising and throwing rainbow farts. However, despite the spinning head, Briar was thrilled as her mind got enlightened and was open to new ideas.

With every single gown she wore, she picked a few things she thought she would want to see and by the time the three hours came to pass, the tailor had drawn a beautiful design which brought tears to Briar’s eyes.

Seeing her that teary, Madam Meyer was even satisfied with her choice and spoke several words to the tailor, who promised to do a good job. With the wedding possibly being held in February or March, there was no need for the tailor to rush. However, just because there was no need to rush didn’t mean that there was no need for a good job.

After dealing with the matters of the dress, the mother- and daughter-in-law pair left that shop. Heading to the restaurant for lunch.

On their way to the restaurant, Madam Meyer couldn’t help but look at Briar’s stomach, wondering why she hadn’t heard any news yet.

If she wasn’t mistaken, Briar and her son should have been intimate for more than a month. Could it be that they were using contraceptives? That’s why she hadn’t heard any news, yet.

Although Logan already has other children, it didn’t hurt to have a few more. Whenever she thought of Tiana, who wasn’t of their bloodline, she just wanted Briar to give birth to a child who would soothe her betrayed heart.

However, being a mother-in-law, no matter how greedy she was for another grandchild, she couldn’t openly discuss that matter with Briar lest she overthink and feel as if she was being targeted.

Briar’s mind at times was troubling. Instead of Briar, she might as well as Logan later. Perhaps she was the only one overthinking.

It was possible that the couple didn’t want to disrupt their honeymoon phase with a child. After all, when there is a child, it means having no time to spend with each other like before.

With that thought in mind, Madam Meyer didn’t utter a single word regarding that matter, but simply took Briar to the restaurant.
