Chapter 182: Chapter 182: PANDORA’S BOX OPENED 3
"You ...." Raine was furious as Logan pointed that out, but quickly calmed herself down.
She had known that this method might not make Logan believe her directly. After all, it wasn’t certain whose samples were used. She knew that she had used the right samples, but there was no proof of that. So, she could only calm down and move to plan B.
"That is not all!"
Logan waved his hand at her, giving her the floor and eager to know what more tricks she had. When she was done, he was going to send her off in person and make sure that she didn’t return ever.
Eager to prove herself, Raine took out a recorder from her bag and pushed it to Logan.
Logan was no longer worried about Raine’s moves, so he wasn’t hesitant to pick up the recorder and listen to it.
[Why are you asking about that unfilial b****?] suddenly a shrewish female voice sounded from the recorder and Logan’s eyes flickered with an unknown glint, not knowing what more was going to be said.
[Auntie, I am the sister of the man she is seeing. I want to understand what kind of person she is!] Raine’s voice sounded and Logan looked at Raine with a cold gaze, not liking hearing that.
Raine cleared her throat shyly. She even wanted to say wife but held herself back, knowing that she would let him listen to the recording once she had collected everything.
[Pfttt! If I were you, I would tell your brother to kick that dirty whore aside? Do you know how unfilial that ungrateful wench is? She ...]
Logan felt a pang in his heart as he listened to the recording. With a glance, he could tell that the woman in the recording was Briar’s mother. Only a parent would talk about filial piety. He couldn’t help but recall how she once talked about her family.
He just never thought that her mother hated her so much about saying such things to a stranger. Wasn’t she afraid that her words might hurt her daughter?
[.... I don’t know where she got the money to treat that ungrateful brother of his, but she said personally that she was selling her body. Are you telling me that your brother wants to marry a woman who sells her body to any rich man?
She doesn’t even take care of her parents and siblings but goes around attracting men left and right. Such a child is not a good one!]
[But auntie, why do you say that? Was she like that when she was young?]
[Huh, you don’t know about that girl. You know that she started working when she was just around eleven or twelve there. She had men following her around and always lying to us when she came back home that she was busy selling.
I think that she lost her chastity a very long time ago. It wouldn’t be surprising to hear that she had several abortions as well.]
[Auntie, but that’s your daughter. You can’t think negatively about her!]
[Huh! Do you think that I am lying? I still remember over a decade ago, was it when she was around thirteen. She .....]
[What is it, Auntie? Tell me!]
Logan was having a bad feeling the more he listened to the recording. He could hear the anguish and rage of Briar’s mother.
If he didn’t hear about the part where Briar came home with treatment money for her brother and how she sold herself, he would be certain that Raine had fabricated the recording just like she did with the DNA results. But this time he knew that what he was listening to was raw and not tampered with, and it didn’t sit well with him at all.
What was her mother going to say?
Did Briar do something when she was young for real? But why didn’t he believe it?
Why were these people so eager to damage her reputation? Why did they hate her so much like that?
[Briar ....... she bled severely and had to receive a lot of medicine from the village spiritualist. Even if she was on her menstrual period, no maiden suffers from such heavy periods. If she hadn’t aborted, what else could have happened?]
Logan, upon hearing that, laughed mockingly and dryly, fury filling him at how other mothers could not hesitate but throw dirty water on their own children.
He wasn’t a woman, but he understood that women were all different when they were experiencing the arrival of their aunties. Just because she used a lot of medicine and bled severely, that guaranteed that she aborted? How could her thoughts be so evil?
If he hadn’t taken her chastity that night and seen the blood. Would he be shaken by this absurd revelation?
Wouldn’t he be suspecting Briar right now because of all that?
But that was her mother speaking. What was making her utter such words?
He just didn’t get it.
Raine was very satisfied with Logan’s reaction. She could see that he was so angry and it should be at Briar. After all, she was such a disguising person.
If she hadn’t recorded Briar’s mother in person, she wouldn’t have believed that Briar was like that when growing up.
The money she spent to let that shrewish woman spill the beans was worth it. Whenever she hesitated to speak more, Raine would pay more, thus the recording.
She was very surprised when she met that family. It was her first time seeing a mother hating her daughter so much with passion. She was ready to sell her out.
"What do you mean by letting me listen to this?" Logan’s voice sounded hoarse as he asked Raine, his thoughts unreadable.
Raine nervously rubbed her hands when he asked that as she licked her lips. "This .... I met with her family and she doesn’t have any good relationship with them at all, like you hear. If she doesn’t have any issues, how could the mother say such mean words? Logan, I am very certain that Briar is hiding a lot from everyone. She is not truthful. A mother knows her child the best, and I don’t want you to be fooled!"
