Chapter 180: Chapter 180: PANDORA’S BOX OPENED

[Logan, it’s me, Raine. Can we meet? I have some things I need to talk to you about regarding your wife. It’s very important!]

It’s been four days since Briar left for her home village and the mansion felt empty without her. Being a Saturday, it was the day that Briar usually spent with the kids and took them out. Without her there, the kids weren’t even in the mood to go out and play. As a result, they were all at home and so was he.

It’s been two days since he received that message from Raine and he had been contemplating about what she wanted. He thought that she had left the country already, but never thought that she was busy snooping.

Honestly, when he saw the message, he panicked, as he wasn’t sure what Raine wanted to share about Briar. He was afraid of learning things that he didn’t want to know or hear about.

He never bothered to look deeper into Briar since in his eyes she was an open book. And after that session where she spilled all the secrets and forgot them, there was no need for him to look any deeper.

However, hearing that someone had something about her, he couldn’t help but have a foreboding feeling that it wasn’t going to be anything good. If he heard something that he didn’t like to hear, that would make him change the way he sees Briar, what would he do?

He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her or seeing her from a new perspective. So, he had been procrastinating, but with her returning on Monday, he knew that he couldn’t continue being a coward.

[Let’s meet at Razor Club at noon! Call me when you get there!] he sent a reply after some thoughts and took a deep breath.

With the message sent, he scrolled through his contacts and looked at his mother’s contact and hesitated for a long time to dial it.

’I think it’s better to just face this alone. I can’t let anyone hear whatever that woman has to say!’ he thought seriously about it and gave up.

Hours later, Logan was seated in the private room, sitting across from Raine, who looked a bit haggard despite the makeup on her face.

"This better be important!" he growled at her; his warning apparent.

Raine nodded with an understanding smile, though her eyes were flickering with a smug glint, which made him feel unease.

"Don’t worry. I wouldn’t dare come all the way here to make a fool out of you. I just want you to hear me," she said softly, clasping her hands nervously as she thought about what she was about to reveal to him.

Logan looked at her for a moment, his gaze deep without saying a word, before he leaned on the couch and waved his hand, saying, "Then start. I don’t have much time to play with you."

"With pleasure!" her eyes crinkled as she echoed that.

Raine looked at the man she had loved for years and yet he had never held such thought for her before. It truly hurt her self-esteem and everything that she stands for.

Because of her unrequited love for him, she couldn’t even settle down and be with those men who loved her more than anything else.

She had always thought that one day she was going to maneuver her way into his heart and be with him, but alas, time proved that it would never be the case.

He would rather be with that calculative nobody than someone like her or other noble ladies who could actually help. She didn’t want to be defeated by such a person. Her ego didn’t allow that.

After suffering from that humiliation, the other night, Raine became determined to drag Briar down with her, no matter what. Thankfully, she had already set the stage and the days she wasn’t seen were spent gathering excruciating evidence against Briar that would make Logan hate her forever.

He didn’t think that she would continue defending and protecting her once he knew the kinds of secrets Briar had been hiding.

With that thought in mind, she smiled sinisterly inwardly, looking forward to seeing that happening.

Raine reached out for the handbag next to her and pulled out a brown envelope, which she then passed over to Logan, who was just sitting there with his legs crossed without saying a single word.

Logan looked at the envelope, which had a logo that he wasn’t familiar with, and frowned, wondering what Raine was up to.

"Logan, I don’t know what kind of medicine Briar fed you but I hope that you can see her true colors once I am done showing you certain things I found about her," Raine seriously spoke, her tone very firm as she looked at Logan, her gaze unwavering and that made Logan’s heart drum in panic, fear seeping in of what he might find there.

But as a man, he couldn’t show his weakness in front of a woman who wanted to break his family apart. So, he reached for the envelope with a nonchalant expression and asked lazily, "And what is this?" his tone sounding a bit uninterested.

Raine’s lips twitched when she heard that, but calmed herself down.

’He will definitely act serious once he sees what’s inside!’ she comforted herself as she plastered a smile on her face.

She took a deep breath and adjusted her sitting posture, the handbag on her lap and answered, "that is the first evidence that Briar had been calculating your family since a very long time ago!" her tone very firm as she said so.

When Logan heard that, he suddenly sat up straight as he noticed that the logo on the envelope happen to belong to a laboratory and the kind that dealt with DNA testing.

What was this kind of thing doing in Raine’s hands?

Logan had a bad feeling as he tore the envelope open, his heart thumping unease at the thought of seeing a familiar report inside the envelope.
