Chapter 164: Chapter 164: BANQUET 2

Alice’s eyes squinted as she looked at the screen, her eyes fixated not on the lady wearing red but on the one wearing a yellow trumpet off-the-shoulder short-sleeve gown. The gown accentuated her curves and made it look as if she was born wearing it.

She had seen the other in yellow before but this look, Alice couldn’t help but look at the woman in red and nodded her head in satisfaction.

’She really knows sister-in-law very well!’ it made her feel envious.

She knew the other party first while the one in red later, and yet she seems to not know her sister-in-law at all.

Briar’s yellow gown was eye-catchy and the combination of yellow and red in one setting was truly unique. Companions usually dress in colors which complement each other without pulling attention from each other.

Yet these two wear such bright colors, but none of them was losing to the other.

Briar wore a white gold collar necklace which matched with the pair of teardrop earrings she was wearing. Of course, not sure what the reason was, but Briar also had a second pair of white gold stud earrings and the combination looked perfect to the eyes.

Briar was adorned in jewelry from head to toe and it didn’t look unpleasant to the eyes.

Alice was curious about what she was wearing on her feet. Unfortunately, the gown she wore was a bit too long and hid her feet.

However, seeing the continuous flashes, Alice was at ease finally knowing that Briar had made a mark that night. Everyone would remember her. As for her background, who would really care if they didn’t care?

"She looks beautiful, doesn’t she?" Madam Meyer said with a smile as she nudged at her daughter.

Alice smiled as she looked at her mother and replied, "She is. No wonder why brother doesn’t let her leave the house often. The brother I know, hehe, would probably be sulking right now!"

Madam Meyer chuckled when she heard that.

If there was a new trait that she had seen in her son recently, it was his possessive trait when it comes to Briar. Thankfully, Briar wasn’t someone who loved socializing. Otherwise, who knows what he would do?

Thinking about how her son had been turned into that, she couldn’t help but blame that dead two-faced Selena. If it wasn’t for her, her son would .....

Anyway, she quickly brushed that thought aside and cheerfully looked as Briar and Bertha both walked down the red carpet with smiles on their faces, their arms interlocked and waving at the others with the other hands.

Meanwhile, inside the hall, those who were seeing the pair were quite curious about Briar.

"Who is that?"

"I can’t seem to recognize her!"

"If I am not mistaken, that should be the new Mrs. Meyer!"

"What?"

"I remember seeing her previously at that last banquet. She was a bit quiet, but her appearance was memorable!"

When the young ladies who hadn’t seen Briar before heard that from others, they couldn’t help but clench their fists while others dug their nails in their palms.

Seeing Briar, they could all tell that the other party was beautiful, and she was a woman in real essence. There was nothing to complain about. No wonder why they lost, and she got Logan. But they weren’t reconciled.

Inside the same hall, there were a few ladies who looked at Briar with complicated gazes, recalling the past and memories they couldn’t even share with others.

Looking at her, they felt like fools.

No wonder why they suffered badly back then.

Meanwhile, outside, Briar felt like royalty as she walked down the red carpet. This was her second banquet, appearing as Logan’s wife. She was quite nervous when she arrived, but with Bertha by her side, she regained her confidence once again.

After all, she was wearing her favorite color. Yellow was a color that reminded her of sunshine. She grew up in a family which didn’t allow her to enjoy even the free sunshine. She was gloomy all day and throughout the year.

However, leaving that village and starting afresh in the Meyer’s family, and becoming the kids’ nanny. She wanted to be the bringer of sunshine and see the children be warmed by her.

Since she couldn’t give that kind of warmth in the beginning, she thought of bright colors, and in the end, yellow became her favorite.

She never expected Bertha to bring her such an exquisite yellow gown. It was her first yellow formal gown, and she liked it so much.

Walking with her friend, who would always stand by her side even when she was committing a heinous crime, she felt at peace.

Even the fear of messing things up and causing problems for the Meyer family was all gone.

She was going to make her presence known and let everyone know that just because her background was low, didn’t mean that she was a lowly person.

The red carpet wasn’t long, but she enjoyed every single part of it.

When they got to the front, they signed the wallpaper and posed for a few shots before they went inside. As for who was behind them, the two of them didn’t even bother with it.

"Hahaha, how was it?" as they walked towards the hall, Bertha playfully asked.

Briar’s eyes brightened up. "It was perfect!"

"That’s good." Bertha nodded as she looked at Briar with a proud smile. "In the future, you shall be attending more of these banquets. You can’t escape them."

Briar sighed helplessly when she heard that, but she knew that Bertha’s statement was the truth.

"You need to get used to this."

Briar looked at Bertha and nodded, acquiescing. "I will. Let us just go through this phase!" her words filled with a hint of mystery.

Bertha, upon hearing that, smiled mysteriously and didn’t say a single word.

After all, when people are connected, they know each other’s words without elaborating further.

The two maintained their mysteriousness and made it to the banquet hall without a glitch.
