"I wish I was lying, but that is the truth. Didn’t you see how she was acting earlier when you arrived? If she didn’t harbor such feelings for you, why would she bring up the past like that? She is not a child who doesn’t know how to speak. By bringing Selena again, isn’t that just poking Briar’s heart and reminding her about the past? Don’t forget that she once witnessed your love with Selena. She was your nanny for over a decade, after all!"

When Logan heard that, he became lost in thoughts as he tried to recall Raine’s actions from the start, and when the puzzle pieces started coming together, his expression became icy.

Bam!

He slammed the table in anger and he exploded, "damn it! No wonder why she was busy spouting nonsense!" the more he thought about it, the angrier he became. He couldn’t help but add with a scoff. "What makes her think that I will fall for her when I couldn’t do so in the past?"

"Pft~" The guys broke into helpless laughter when Logan dropped that one.

Ruthless! That was how that last statement sounded. It was enough to send a woman into shock upon hearing. Thankfully, it was just the two of them.

Wellington heaved with relief when he heard that Logan was disgusted by the thought of having any intimate relationship with Raine.

"That’s good. Since I could notice that, it means that the ladies might as well, but it seems like your little wife might still be innocent. We grew up with Raine and know her ways of dealing with things. I am not sure how she has been doing abroad all these years, but she might have gotten worse."

"If she has feelings for Logan, then her visit this time might not be anything good!"

"Now that you are saying that, it’s making sense. It can’t be that she came here with the purpose of pushing Briar out!"

Logan angrily slammed the table once again when he heard that.

"Does my wife look easy to bully that much?" he bellowed as he clenched his fists.

The four friends involuntarily nodded their heads, and Logan, seeing that, stood up in fury.

However, deep down in his heart, he was anxious, as he knew that it was indeed the case. If she was strong, she wouldn’t have suffered badly in the past.

At some point, he watched how badly those naughty kids bullied her.

Briar wasn’t someone who grew up in an environment filled with schemes and plots.

Raine had seen a lot and had the talent for using words. She was so good at what she does, otherwise, she wouldn’t be leading such an innovative company worth millions of dollars at her age without her family’s support.

To be where they were, without using ruthless means, it was impossible to climb higher. Just imagining a match between Briar and Raine, his heart turned cold and worry overwhelmed him.

They had left the ladies together. And if Raine bullied Briar there, wouldn’t she be crying right now?

With his train of thought moving in that direction, Logan became worried and panicked.

He looked at his friends with worry in his eyes and said determinately, "I love her! I love Briar and I will not allow anyone to mess up what I have here!" and after saying that, he marched out of the room, in hurried steps.

Such a firm confession caught the others unaware, so it took a while to respond and by the time they realized that something might be off, Logan’s shadow couldn’t be seen.

The four, upon seeing that, hurriedly followed Logan and returned to the original room. However, they never expected to come across what they feared the most when Logan marched out of the other room.

Logan couldn’t believe that Raine had feelings for him, and when he actually believed it, he was suddenly filled with worry.

Briar’s sense of security was still wavering. She was still filled with doubt, and her confidence was only to the brim when she was with his family.

When she was out there, it would lower. He had seen how well-behaved she was earlier. Although it pained his heart, at least when she was pointed out, she cooperated.

However, to suddenly hear that Raine had other motives when she returned to the country and that she might be seeing Briar as an easy opponent, he got so pissed off.

If someone who was out of the country was thinking like that, then what about those, Briar had seen?

Were they taking her seriously or just thinking of bringing her down?

There were many despicable means of bringing someone down and when he thought about those means being used on Briar, he hated Raine so much and felt guilt for pushing Briar into such a spotlight.

If he had known about her feelings before, he would have courted her properly, given her the best assurance and quieted all the people who were still not accepting his decision.

Unfortunately, the truth came out later, and the spotlight was already on her.

He didn’t think much about how all that would affect or implicate her. It was only now that he was thinking about it.

He had seen so many times how a scandal, some were doctored and published, thus making a woman’s reputation fall completely.

She would lose everything that she holds dear and be unable to face the world again.

How many women died because of these despicable means other evil-minded people always used?

Without even going far, he remembered how Selena manipulated Alice and how it all ended up.

With the thought of seeing her in a similar situation, Briar’s pace increased.

As he took large strides towards the room, he hoped that Briar hadn’t suffered a loss but never in a million years did he think that he would come across something so ...... it was so hard to describe his emotions but the heaviness in his chest was so severe, all he wanted to do was to carry her in his arms and bring her home.

And that’s what he did.
