Chapter 115: Chapter 115: WEEKEND PLANS

After a sumptuous dinner, Briar and the kids went outside for a walk as they digested their dinner.

As they walked and admired the beautiful sky, they also chatted.

"Second Mother, what are we doing tomorrow? Do you have any plans?" Lyra asked curiously as she turned her head towards Briar, who was gazing at the sky, probably counting the stars.

Upon hearing that, Tiana’s interest was piqued, and she added, "Second mother! It’s been a very long time since we went out to play!"

Cade nodded on the other side, though he wasn’t a fan of playing games. However, this was a practice, or rather a tradition, their family had been following ever since they were young.

It was more like a bonding session, where they threw aside homework and all the family pressure to let loose.

Saturday was once called nanny day since they spent it with their now-second mother and on Sunday their parents would join in. Though at his age, all he could remember was having his father accompanying them.

When his mother died, he was around six to seven years old. He was a young adult who could reason. His second mother joined them when he was three years old. He remembered clearly how his parents back then didn’t have time to spend with them, especially outside the gates.

If it wasn’t for the curiosity of his second mother, who at that time was just a nanny from the countryside and wanted to see the world, his childhood would have been bleak.

As he grew up from three years old going upwards, his mother got pregnant, making it difficult for her to go anywhere with them at all. And then she gave birth to Tiana, making it worse than the previous year and the worst struck them when she ended up hospitalized.

His mother never managed to return home alive. Apparently, she was that sick. In summary, the weekend wasn’t the moment of the week that he and his siblings got to enjoy with their mother.

It has always been his second mother and his father. It was one of the reasons why everyone ended up calling his second mother with that title. When his mother was alive, she even teased and called her like that.

If she knew that the nanny, she used to tease managed to become their father, Cade wondered how furious she would be.

Anyway, returning to reality, he indeed missed going out as a family, despite his dislike for playing. He was thirteen and the heir to the family’s empire. The thought of playing games made him feel like he was a kid, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t want to listen to the laughter of his sisters and second mother when playing.

So, he looked forward to his second mother’s answer when that question was posed.

Briar, on the other hand, was actually taken aback by that question. Because of everything that had transpired in the previous months; being hospitalized, recuperating, and learning etiquette, that tradition somewhat slipped out of her mind.

She had been thinking of how to seduce her husband and make him consummate the marriage with her. As a result, the matter of bonding with the kids slipped away.

However, she was quite grateful that Lyra had asked that. It reminded her that there was something else for her to do, which was to continue to cement her bond with the kids.

As long as the kids were on her side, no matter what would happen in the future, they wouldn’t ruthlessly abandon her. They would at least second guess before coming back to her side.

So once her thoughts were settled, she didn’t dare show the kids that she had forgotten about such a matter.

She looked at them with her eyes smiling, making the kids look forward to her answer even more.

"I thought that we were going to walk around a bit more before I bring up the topic," Briar lied with a smile on her face before continuing, "How about we sit over there and gather some ideas?" and suggested as she pointed towards the bench just a short distance from them.

The kids were happy to hear that and hurriedly walked towards the bench, making Briar chuckle helplessly.

She shortly joined the kids and the four of them were seated now.

"We have gone to literally everywhere at this stage. Since we haven’t planned in advance, how about we visit the aquarium?" Lyra suggested with sparkling eyes.

Tiana looked at her sister before she nodded her head. It’s been a long time since she saw the fish as well.

Cade didn’t care what they chose as long as they could, so he agreed with that.

Briar heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that. It would be weird if they recommended going to an amusement park. She loved going there a lot and playing on those rides. However, now that she had recently married Logan, she would be worried about losing face.

There were certain hobbies she would be forced to suppress and it would be one of them.

"Okay, we can go there tomorrow. It’s been over a year since we went there. So, it’s a good choice!" Briar agreed with Lyra’s choice. After all, it would be nice to see something different, even if it means watching fish.

With that choice made, all that remained was to buy the tickets and then visit the aquarium and enjoy their day.

"Ouw!" suddenly, as the four talked about what happened at school, Tiana screamed and started scratching herself.

Briar, upon seeing that, pulled the young girl to her side to check what was happening and Tiana was also cooperative.

"Mom! I think that a mosquito has bitten me!" she complained aggrievedly, making Briar speechless for a moment.

She nonetheless touched the place where Tiana was scratching and she found the small pump.

Feeling the bump, Briar understood that her daughter had suffered. So, she could only coax her for a while. As a result, the four didn’t remain in the garden for a long time, but headed back.

It would be bad if all of them ended up being bitten by mosquitoes. There was a probability of getting malaria or having the blood contaminated.

Inside the house, Briar had to take care of Tiana, who was acting spoiled. Lyra and Cade bid goodnight to Briar before disappearing to their rooms, unwilling to witness Tiana acting like that.

"Mommy! Do you think that I will fall sick?" Tiana asked fearfully as her small body trembled while Briar applied some ointment on the several bumps which now looked clear on Tiana’s body.

Thinking about the fear of the little girl, Briar looked at her dotingly and responded, "How could my baby fall sick? I have fed baby medicine for years. You are strong as a horse. So don’t let these malicious, small flies win over you, right?" her voice was very reassuring. It made Tiana who was anxious a moment ago to regain her cool.

Now thinking about it, she was someone who ate medicine at least once every week, so falling sick wouldn’t be easy. Suddenly, she felt strong and reassured.

She looked at Briar and broke into a toothy grin before saying to Briar, "Hehe, I won’t be falling sick then."

She hated being sick. The last time Briar was sick, it was depressing on her side. She didn’t want to fall sick at all.

Seeing the girl regaining her confidence, she heaved with relief despite not understanding what was happening inside her mind.

After applying ointment to her body, she tucked Tiana into bed before reading a bedtime story. She didn’t even read for twenty minutes before soft snoring could be heard.

Looking at the small girl who was now sleeping peacefully, Briar’s heart was filled with so much love.

Although this child wasn’t hers, nor Logan’s, but belonged to that unfaithful woman and her villainous lover. The fact that she raised Tiana from the beginning, Tiana was her child.

Just because one person gave birth to a child doesn’t mean that the person deserves to be called a mother. Even someone who didn’t give birth to that child but raised the child with everything that she has could be a qualified mother.

And she was happy being Tiana’s mother, as well as Lyra and Cade.

Briar smiled as she looked at the little girl and lowered her head for a forehead kiss before she left the room.

She closed the door gently, afraid to awaken the little girl before walking towards the other kids’ rooms.

She started with Cade and found the other playing games. She bid him goodnight and went to check on Lyra, whom she found chatting with her friends.

After seeing that all the kids were in their rooms and considering that it was Friday, with no school the next day, there was no need for her to force them to sleep early.

So, once she was done, she headed upstairs to prepare for a good night’s sleep. But before that, there was something that she needed to do.

And she did exactly that.
