Chapter 52: Chapter 52 She, Gu Nuan, Definitely Doesn’t Have Such Fate (2)

Zang Xiaolian squinted his eyes mysteriously, not knowing whether she had noticed that she was asking more and more questions about Xiao Yebai.

"My second brother likes quietness. Moreover, this place is good to my second brother, they even issued him a discount card. Dining here is cheaper than eating elsewhere, and the environment is nicer," he explained.

"Isn’t he very rich? Why care about such small amounts of money?"

"Second brother says, it’s not about having a lot or little money, the trouble is not knowing how to spend it."

In essence, even when spending money, there has to be style – it can’t reduce his style.

Gu Nuan felt as if she suddenly saw the light.

Noticing her expression, Zang Xiaolian asked her, "Sister-in-law, did you think of something?"

"Your brother is a capitalist."

The essence of a capitalist is to pursue profit, and in seeking profit, you always need efficiency.

He might spend money generously, but he will definitely spend every penny where it has value.

Suddenly, Gu Nuan felt that her fake husband, despite his seemingly degenerate appearance, wasn’t completely useless after all.

When they reached the private room, Zang Xiaolian opened the door for her. As Gu Nuan took a look inside, there were two men sitting there.

One of them was sprawling with his legs crossed in a careless manner, flipping through a magazine – the same old carefree, spendthrift, who else could it be but her fake husband?

The other man was dressed in a white business shirt, sleeves rolled up to reveal solid muscles on his arms, chunky, like those of a boxer.

He looked about the same age as Xiao Yebai, with a buzz cut, thick eyebrows, and big eyes.

At a glance, he didn’t resemble the kind of white-collar worker who moves around office buildings, but more like a tough who does the dirty work outside.

Gu Nuan was extra cautious and took another look at the black suit draped over the chair; it definitely seemed like an expensive handcrafted piece.

This man seemed rough but was impeccably dressed, except for the stubble on his chin which looked a bit unkempt, as if he hadn’t had time to shave.

He wasn’t as handsome as Zang Xiaolian and Xiao Yebai, but he had a masculine toughness about him, which was equally charismatic.

The man had his head buried in his food, eating voraciously as if starved. One hand held a soup spoon, the other a stainless steel dessert spoon.

The dessert spoon eagerly scooped up the large platter of tomato fried rice while the soup spoon dredged through a large bowl of chicken soup.

A mouthful of rice, followed by a mouthful of soup.

Neither hand appeared free for anything else.

Gu Nuan couldn’t help but think, could this man have come from a refugee camp? How many days had he been starving?

"Brother, sister-in-law is here," said Zang Xiaolian.

Following Zang Xiaolian’s words, Xiao Yebai and the man eating voraciously like a starving ghost both looked up.

Upon seeing Gu Nuan, Xiao Yebai immediately put down his magazine, "Sit here."

With an outsider present, Gu Nuan had no choice but to play along and sat next to him.

Meanwhile, the man who was eating, when he saw her sit next to Xiao Yebai, let out a burp like thunder.

"Eat with some manners," Xiao Yebai immediately scolded him, "My sister-in-law here might think you’re from Africa!"

Uh. She had indeed entertained that thought.

"I really lost my composure," the man said, taking a wet wipe from Zang Xiaolian and wiping his greasy mouth before taking a sip of tea.

Watching his actions, Gu Nuan thought they didn’t line up with his rough appearance at all.

Xiao Yebai’s eyes glanced across her face, "Let’s eat first. Don’t mind her."

From his tone, he seemed not to like her looking at other men.

Could he be pretending? The only thing certain was his acting was very convincing.

It startled the man across from them, making him comment in surprise, "Second brother, when did you marry such a treasure and you didn’t notify your brothers?"

At that moment, Zang Xiaolian whispered something in Xiao Yebai’s ear.

Xiao Yebai raised an eyebrow and suddenly one arm encircled Gu Nuan’s shoulder.

Gu Nuan was startled, and with an outsider present, she could only tolerate it, feeling his fingers pressing on her shoulder, not as feeble as his pale skin suggested.

His voice brushed her ear, "So you ran into an ex-boyfriend, no wonder I had to wait so long? Why didn’t you call me over? Don’t you want to see them jump into the river?"

After taking a sip of water, Gu Nuan raised her eyebrows unperturbed and glanced at his profile, "How can the effect be good without more people watching this drama? This place is too small. Mr. Xiao must think the same, no excitement, no enjoyment, right?"
