Chapter 360: Chapter 360 Xiaosheng (8)

"Yes!" Fang Yongxing almost gave her another thumbs up, his eyes lighting up with a smile, "You’re very bright, I’m very reassured. You wouldn’t choose the wrong person. And now that I’m in the hospital, it’s actually quite inconvenient for me to do anything. I’m afraid by the time I’m discharged, it will be too late. After working for this company for so many years, I’m practically fused with it by blood. I can’t just watch as a bunch of malicious people destroy such an excellent company. Whatever you see that you can use, just use it!"

Gu Nuan kept nodding persistently.

She would never miss out on anything valuable.

Seeing her agree so readily, a thoughtful flicker passed through Yao Jie’s eyes.

Having laid out his instructions, Fang Yongxing prompted them, "Have some apples before you leave. I have too much fruit here and I can’t finish it. Help me get rid of some."

As this was a rare visit, they also wanted to spend more time with him. Yao Jie smiled and nodded. Gu Nuan picked a few apples and pears from the fruit basket on the table, took them to the washroom to wash them, and began to peel and cut them.

Unexpectedly, Fang Yongxing suddenly started to sweat profusely and looked distressed.

"What’s wrong?" Yao Jie asked nervously.

"My stomach hurts," said Fang Yongxing. "I don’t know if it’s because the meals these past few days haven’t agreed with my stomach, but I’ve been feeling uneasy after eating."

"You’ve got an upset stomach and still say you want fruit?" Yao Jie was nearly exasperated with him.

Fang Yongxing said, "I wasn’t going to eat it myself; I wanted you two to eat, to help me eat—" He couldn’t finish his sentence, as the pain was too much and he collapsed on the bed without moving.

Yao Jie was frightened, immediately pressing the call button at the head of the bed to summon a nurse.

They waited for a while, but no one came. As Gu Nuan watched over Fang Yongxing, Yao Jie had no choice but to run out to the nurses’ station to call someone.

When she got there, she found that due to the nurses’ shift change, there was no one at the station. There was also no one in the doctors’ offices.

Yao Jie was frantic and unsure of what to do, so she had no choice but to run back to the ward to discuss with Gu Nuan.

It only took Gu Nuan a moment of reflection to realize that this situation was far from simple. Thinking about how Fang Yongxing felt unwell after eating the hospital’s food and now not being able to find a single doctor or nurse, she feared that if the search continued, it would only delay Fang Yongxing’s condition.

After all, this hospital was funded by Changda, and if something untoward happened, as Fang Yongxing was an employee of Changda, it was very likely the incident would be internally settled, resulting in no further action.

So, what were these people trying to do? Were they attempting to teach Fang Yongxing a small lesson or what?

Regardless, one couldn’t take a human life as a joke.

Gu Nuan looked up at Yao Jie and said, "Yao Jie, please watch over Section Chief here. I’ll go find a doctor right away."

"Do you know someone here?" Yao Jie asked in surprise, as she had not heard Gu Nuan mention this before.

Gu Nuan replied, "Well, not really someone I know well. I’ve just met him before. He seems to be a decent person, trustworthy, so I believe he won’t just stand by and watch someone die."

Without time for further explanation due to the urgency of the situation, Gu Nuan began to take out her phone. The last time she had visited, not only had Tang Sili given her his phone number, but he had also given her Ou Yanan’s cell number.

Was all this because the money-grubbing professor of surgery wanted to curry favor with her husband and, by extension, with her? She was not certain.

But now, it unexpectedly came in handy.

She did not want to call Tang Sili. The man was too indifferent and too profound, too difficult to figure out what he was really after. Owing him a favor could lead to extortion and more loss than gain.

So, in this hospital, the only person left she could turn to was—
