Chapter 359: Chapter 359 Xiaosheng (7)
Gu Nuan only looked at the CD used for recording data; it didn’t seem to be a branded item, probably because Fang Yongxing couldn’t afford to buy a particularly good recording disc at the time, and this would increase the risk of data loss and make recovery more difficult.
Yaojie’s sigh was indeed very reasonable.
The question was, what exactly was stored in these CDs, and why did Fang Yongxing keep them so secretly.
It seemed that they could only start by asking the person involved.
Not daring to leave such valuable items in the car, Yaojie acted as if she was carrying her son’s schoolbag and accompanied Gu Nuan to visit Fang Yongxing in the hospital ward.
Fang Yongxing’s wife had gone out to buy him food.
After eating the hospital’s food for a while, one would naturally get tired of it and seek a change of taste.
Fang Yongxing, alone, was holding a newspaper with his uninjured hand and reading the news.
After being injured, the doctor had advised him to minimize contact with radiation-emitting devices like smartphones to aid in his recovery. Fang Yongxing had put his phone aside and wasn’t looking at it.
When Gu Nuan and Yaojie entered the ward, seeing him alone looking leisurely, Yaojie teased him, "Now that you’re laid up, you get to take money without working. No wonder life seems so lush for you."
Fang Yongxing turned to look at Yaojie and said, "It seems like people in the company are having a hard time if they all envy me, a cripple who can’t even walk."
"Look at what you’re saying. It’s just a few months to recover, and then you’ll be bouncing around again. By then, we’ll just have to worry whether you’ll cause trouble again," Yaojie approached him and casually placed the Mickey Mouse schoolbag beside his bed.
Fang Yongxing noticed her action and understood her implication, nodding quietly.
Gu Nuan entered and closed the door behind her.
In this single-bed ward, there was no camera.
"The cameras are installed in the bathroom. I heard that special wards are equipped like this," Fang Yongxing said, "It’s said to be because of rich people’s diseases, to prevent patients from suddenly fainting in the bathroom without the nurses or doctors knowing. It’s usually safe in the ward itself."
"You are talking about coronary heart disease," Yaojie corrected his term for rich people’s disease.
Fang Yongxing shrugged.
"Anyway, Gu Nuan and I were wondering, what were you planning exactly?" Yaojie steered the conversation back to business.
Of course, Fang Yongxing wouldn’t say to open the backpack; the utmost caution was essential, fearing eavesdroppers, so he whispered to Yaojie, "Those are the materials I’ve collected over the years at Changda. I gave them to Gu Nuan; you, being in design, might not understand them, but she might see some clues."
Although Fang Yongxing had never worked in the company’s finance department, the finance department was one of the core departments of the company, involving all departments. And where there was money, there were certainly murky issues.
Gu Nuan immediately understood Fang Yongxing’s intent, so she asked, "Do you trust me this much because?"
These matters surely involved the conflicts between internal factions of the company.
Was Fang Yongxing’s doing this a way to support her husband? Speaking of which, did Fang Yongxing know who her husband was?
No.
Fang Yongxing didn’t know.
But, Fang Yongxing trusted her, Gu Nuan.
"You are quite a straightforward person. And after the incident happened to me, I have been pondering why it happened for the first time after so many years, why never before. That can only prove one thing, do you know what?"
Gu Nuan nodded, "It proves that some people couldn’t wait any longer, started stirring, and stopped at nothing."
