Seeing Ye Chuan's sudden willingness to talk, Wang Yanran tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, seemingly relieved.

The worst thing was someone wanting nothing from you.

If it was just money, that was easy to solve.

She just needed to ask her grandfather and could obtain a considerable sum for investment.

"Then… Can I add you to my contacts?" Wang Yanran asked tentatively, remembering how Ye Chuan had rejected her friend request yesterday.

Ye Chuan took out his phone. "Scan my code."

"Okay." Wang Yanran took out her phone, scanned Ye Chuan's QR code, and then starred his contact.

She even pinned their chat window, afraid of missing any messages.

After doing all this, Wang Yanran couldn't help but smile, feeling much more at ease.

"I'll transfer the money to you now, senior. If you have any other needs, just let me know." Before Wang Yanran could finish, Ye Chuan interrupted her.

"Hold on."

"Yes, senior?"

"I can't accept you just giving me money," Ye Chuan said. "You pay, I work."

Wang Yanran froze, surprised by his words. Seeing that he wasn't willing to accept free money, she smiled.

"Since you're so principled, senior… could you help me capture a Ghost King?"

A Ghost King?

That sounded impressive.

"Tell me more, how strong is it?" Ye Chuan asked calmly.

If he couldn't defeat it, he'd just forget it.

His life was more important; he wouldn't take unnecessary risks.

"That Ghost King's strength is around Level 4, very powerful," Wang Yanran said, then paused.

"Can you do it?"

Level 4?

Ye Chuan had a reference point. Wang Li was a Level 3 superpowered warrior, but to him, Wang Li felt like an early Qi Refining cultivator. If the Ghost King was Level 4…

It would be at most 1.5 or 2 Wang Lis, right?

Even 3 Wang Lis wouldn't be a match for him, a late Qi Refining cultivator with a Supreme quality constitution.

If all else failed, he still had a Golden Core nuke at home.

"Deal, I'll help you capture it," Ye Chuan said, then added, "Four hundred thousand yuan deposit upfront."

"Okay." After transferring the money, Wang Yanran asked, "When should we…"

"Five days from now," Ye Chuan said.

He would be at the peak of Qi Refining in five days, and dealing with a 2.5 Wang Li would be a piece of cake.

"ChuanChuan?" A voice called out, and Ye Chuan turned around to see Luo Xi carrying a tray, with a boy standing beside her, also carrying a tray.

"Beautiful Luo Xi, didn't you go to the broadcasting room?" Ye Chuan asked, glancing at the boy beside her.

He looked familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before.

Oh, he was the host of the duel with the Taekwondo Club.

"So you're not eating with me because you're with him?" Ye Chuan raised an eyebrow.

"No! Luo Hao is also from the broadcasting club. We were going to practice our script in the studio, but the teacher said the equipment was broken, so we came to the cafeteria together," Luo Xi quickly explained.

Luo Hao, standing beside Luo Xi, looked at Ye Chuan. "Student Ye, you're quite the celebrity in our school now."

"Like the Rasengan guy?"

(TL: I swear this author has the most random jokes, here Ye Chuan is downplaying Luo Hao's attempt to appear strong or important by downplaying his own fame in response to Luo Xi entry statement.)

Luo Hao: "..."

Luo Xi noticed Wang Yanran sitting across from Ye Chuan, her expression turning strange. "..."

Did he… find another long-term meal ticket? Didn't he have enough money now?

Why was he doing this again?

Or did he actually like this girl?

Luo Xi looked Wang Yanran up and down.

Even while sitting, she had a tall and curvy figure, wearing simple yet elegant jewelry, her long, wavy hair giving her a sophisticated air.

Didn't he already have Bai QianShuang? Why another rich woman?

Luo Xi sat down beside Ye Chuan, looking a bit sullen.

"And this is…?" Wang Yanran noticed Luo Xi and asked curiously.

"My girlfriend," Ye Chuan said with a smile.

Luo Xi's eyes widened. "?!"

"I see…" Wang Yanran introduced herself.

"Hello, I'm Wang Yanran. He helped me once, and we happened to run into each other at the cafeteria today."

Wang Yanran quickly clarified their relationship.

Luo Hao, however, said, "Luo Xi, aren't you single?"

He looked at Ye Chuan. "Student Ye, it's not good to joke about such things."

Ye Chuan shrugged indifferently. "I was just saying that casually."

He then looked at Luo Xi. "See? Beautiful Luo Xi didn't even deny it."

Luo Xi puffed out her cheeks and pinched Ye Chuan's arm. "You always like to make these jokes."

Ye Chuan chuckled and looked at Luo Hao, who was sitting across from Luo Xi. "But dude, does it bother you that I'm joking with Luo Xi? Who are you, anyway?"

"I'm just reminding you as Luo Xi's friend," Luo Hao frowned.

Friend?

"When did you make a new friend?" Ye Chuan asked Luo Xi.

Luo Xi froze. She only occasionally talked to Luo Hao in the club and had his contact information.

They weren't even friends, let alone close friends.

"No, you know who my friends are," Luo Xi said, putting her hands on her hips.

After all, they knew each other so well.

"Oh." Ye Chuan chuckled.

During the meal, Ye Chuan glanced at Luo Xi's tray and took the most delicious-looking braised chicken wing. "Mine now."

"Hey, I paid extra for that," Luo Xi protested. "Give it back."

Ye Chuan gave the half-eaten chicken wing back to Luo Xi.

"Jerk." Luo Xi picked up the chicken wing and ate it, protectively.

She mumbled, "You know this is my favorite… Look at all the toppings in your bowl."

Seeing their interaction, Luo Hao, sitting across from them, couldn't stay silent.

He picked up a chicken wing from his tray and placed it on Luo Xi's plate. "Luo Xi, you can have it if you like it, I don't really like chicken wings."

Luo Xi looked at the chicken wing on her plate, then at Luo Hao, puzzled. "Why did you order it if you don't like it?"

Luo Hao froze, his expression turning unnatural. "Uh… I just ordered randomly, and didn't really pay attention."

"Thank you," Luo Xi said with a sweet smile.

Luo Hao smiled back. "You're welcome, I'm glad you like it."

But in the next second, his smile froze. Luo Xi placed the chicken wing onto Ye Chuan's plate. "Here, for you."

"Thanks." Ye Chuan ate it without hesitation.

Seeing this, Luo Hao couldn't help but ask, "Don't you like chicken wings?"

"One is enough," Luo Xi said with a grin. "Eating too much is bad, I'll get fat."

Luo Hao: "..."

(SHMOLL: Man, this is toxic as hell. I am with you LH.)
