Chapter 133 - 133 129 Unknown Task 13

Chapter 133: Chapter 129 Unknown Task 13 Chapter 133: Chapter 129 Unknown Task 13 “One minute…”

Lin Fan silently counted in his heart.

He knew his body was almost at its limit.

Just as Bai Xiong had thought, being able to see didn’t necessarily mean one’s body could keep up. To avoid such a situation, Lin Fan’s movements couldn’t merely be dodging. More often, he needed to lead his opponent’s attacks.

For example, with that punch aimed straight at his face just now, if Lin Fan had dodged to one side, Bai Xiong would have used his other hand to block his escape path, followed by a step forward to corner him completely.

Therefore, Lin Fan had to first bend his body, and when the opponent lifted his leg to strike, he would then retreat out of the attack range. To execute this move, he needed his waist and abdomen to perform an extreme fold within half a second.

It was very difficult.

But fortunately, Lin Fan had managed to do it. He avoided that vicious punch…

At the same time, it left the two muscles in his lower back strained to their limits, every inch of movement felt like being cut with a knife, the pain piercing to the marrow.

This kind of instantaneous posture switch was extremely damaging to his body. And during the past minute, Lin Fan had been performing such movements almost every second.

His wrist was now too weak to hold a pen, his steps became unsteady, his right shoulder was difficult to raise, and his lower back, abdomen, thighs, Achilles tendon—every muscle was crying out in agony, wailing. To dodge Bai Xiong’s last five consecutive punches, he had pushed his body to the brink of collapse.

Fortunately, during the last horizontal sweep, he managed to use his opponent’s force to slash open the veins in his wrist… The wound forced the opponent to clutch his own wrist tightly with his other hand because if he let go, the retracted vein would withdraw into the muscle, making it impossible to find again.

But it was also at the moment of inflicting this wound that the tremendous recoil caused the base of Lin Fan’s right hand to rupture… From then on, his entire right arm was completely out of commission.

“There’s still time!” he reminded himself once more, and with strong willpower, suppressed the dizzying pain all over his body. This almost self-hypnotic method could only last for about two minutes. Once time was up, the mere pain of muscle tearing would be enough to deprive Lin Fan of all his combat strength…

At this moment, the big guy behind him had his hands temporarily restricted and no longer had the ability to dismantle a car barehanded. And the guy in the purple suit in front of him didn’t seem so scary—as long as Lin Fan was careful with his gun.

That is to say, there was still a chance…

With that thought, Lin Fan charged at Chen Xiao, dragging his nearly crippled body. He also did not forget to track the opponent’s movements for any flaws in “Future Vision,” looking for moments to shoot and angles to dodge.

“Why the hell not!!!”

Lin Fan roared with eyes bloodshot from pain, using the roar to boost his own fervor a notch. He stumbled forward, but his aura was fiercely aggressive, like a dying wild dog lashing back, sending chills down one’s spine!

A person fighting desperately… looks just like this.

300 kilometers west of K city, there lies a small city that, due to its remote location, has never received much attention. Its agriculture is nothing to be noted and its industrial development is even less impressive. The pace of life here is akin to a tractor that won’t start, and almost all the young people with a bit of initiative have left for other cities, leaving behind a population where seventy percent are elderly. This has resulted, unsurprisingly, in the old city district having a slightly higher population than the new city district…

This road was the commercial street of the old city district back in the day. Its paved surface, full of pits and bumps, along with buildings no taller than seven or eight stories on either side, is scoffed at by young people used to metropolitans. However, the elderly, with their lower halves buried in the loess, quite like it here. On a side street, there’s a tea house where these not-so-serious old folks usually gather to play cards, chat idly, and squander the little of their lives that remains…

At noon, a young woman walked into the noisy tea house. She had her hair down with a somewhat awkward red hair clip on her forehead. With a few faint freckles on her face complementing her cheekbone structure, she knitted a unique charm that inevitably made her stand out among the group of old men. But at the moment, the elderly around her seemed to pay her little attention. Some didn’t even look up, while others only glanced her way inadvertently, without casting any more looks…

The woman squeezed through the aisle between the tea tables, accidentally knocking over an old man’s tea cup in the process. The scalding hot water splashed onto the old man’s hand, but the woman didn’t bother with him and hastened upstairs to the tea house’s second floor. The old man didn’t make a sound. He just looked at his toppled teacup with some confusion, righted it, and then resumed his conversation with the person next to him…

On the second floor of the tea house, the woman came to an old door with a corner of the paper peeled off, upon which “Storage Room” was written.

The woman took out an ordinary key from her pocket and inserted it into the keyhole of the door…

With a “click,” the lock’s opening sound was heard, and the woman pulled open the door to reveal a narrow and long corridor that was somewhat dark. There were no decorations on either side. At the end of the corridor, one could faintly see a rectangular outline of light sketching another door’s profile.

This corridor was very strange because, according to the building’s layout, it should not be possible to have a passage here, and the length of this corridor clearly exceeded the area the building was supposed to have…

The strange scene before her eyes didn’t elicit any extra expression from the woman; she just quickly walked in and closed the door behind her.

Before long, an old man nearing seventy staggered up to the second floor. With a gentle pull, he opened the door to the storage room that was just mentioned; however, at this moment, only some cleaning tools like brooms and mops could be seen behind the door.

The woman walked briskly to the door bathed in light and pushed it open.

A breeze brushed past,

behind that door wasn’t an architectural room, nor a road or a balcony… but…

a grass field. The green grass stretched to a creek in the distance. A few dozen steps away was a tree with a name she couldn’t recall. Under the vast canopy, a metal office desk stuck out like a sore thumb against the current backdrop, surrounded by four people chattering and laughing…

This was an extremely bizarre scene, whether it be the oddly grown tree or the iron desk beneath it. Nothing matched the setting. The door behind the woman was not attached to anything, standing alone in the middle of the grass field.

She pressed her hair down with her hand, annoyed by the wind… and then she started walking toward the four individuals.

“Go back!” she inexplicably said.

But the four continued talking and laughing as if they hadn’t seen her at all.

The woman furrowed her brow, then, as if remembering something, snatched off the quirky hair clip in a huff and smacked it down on the table with a “clap”.

“Go back!” she shouted again.

This time, the four people at the table jerked their heads toward her and stared in horror. The next second, the entire scene unnaturally flickered. The grass field, the creek, and the trees all vanished in an instant, replaced by a small office.

Now, the office desk the four were around matched the surroundings a lot better.

“Um… Mujin… we just wanted a breath of fresh air…” said a young man in a baseball cap, among the four. He swalowed nervously as he spoke.
