Chapter 570: Chapter 371 Open the door~_3

He was alone in the car, without the cowering that he had displayed before.

He moved his stiff neck and locked the car door.

The car window was cracked open for ventilation, covered with curtains, and the interior light wasn’t bright. From outside, nothing could be seen, but it was enough inside.

Inside the car were goods they hadn’t yet managed to deal, and he was indeed reluctant to part with them.

He opened a bag and took out the last two packaged Shatush shawls, hiding them on his body. One large, one small, they didn’t take up much space when packaged, and they were light.

Shatush shawls were light, thin and so soft they could slip through a ring, which is why people also called them "ring shawls".

Although they would hunt Tibetan antelopes and sell their wool, they would also smuggle finished Shatush shawls in from abroad to sell to domestic buyers.

Compared to foreign buyers, domestic buyers were few, but they still managed to complete several transactions each year.

The animal skins in the car were inconvenient to carry, but the two Shatush shawls were easy enough.

He had taken on private jobs for Shatush, delivering them to buyers for a good amount of money.

He had kept it a secret from the rest of the gang, selling some of their stuff on the side. The "things from before" that the boss mentioned referred to this.

But now, they were on the run, and it was uncertain whether his second and third brothers and little five could get away. After this, they might all disband; it would be a waste to leave these things here, better that he sold them to make some extra cash!

He didn’t plan on staying in the car as he had told the boss earlier, but instead, after stashing the goods, he intended to get out soon and find a place nearby to hide.

The car was too conspicuous of a target—too dangerous!

He’d find a hidden spot to crouch and if anything seemed off, he’d bolt immediately! He had even figured out where to hide next!

Once this trouble blew over, he’d sell all the goods on him and make a good sum of money!

Thinking of the profit these would bring him, his face lit up with excitement, and the greedy smile on his seemingly simple face was especially incongruous.

He was still smiling when—

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Someone was rapping on the car door.

The smile on his face froze, and he instantly became vigilant, gripping his gun tightly.

"Who’s there?"

There was no response from outside.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Three more knocks came.

He quietly turned off the car light and carefully pulled back the curtain covering the window.

But a layer of snow covered the window from outside, obscuring his view; there was no light outdoor either.

He dared not open the car door nor lower the window. It definitely wasn’t the boss or number six outside!

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Once more the knocking sounded.

At the same time, a distant voice seeped in:

"Open~ the~ door~"

The voice was somewhat strained, trembling slightly, and had a raspy quality to it, seeming devoid of vitality.

Feng Yi: ...

He didn’t dare make a sound.

His facial muscles were tense, and the hand that held the gun turned slightly white.

The cold wind blowing through the crack in the window made the hairs on his neck stand up.

At times like these, even the slightest chill was magnified countless times!

While Feng Yi wasn’t as scared of ghosts as little five, it didn’t stop him from suspecting that the person outside wasn’t up to any good!

"Who are you?" Feng Yi asked.

"Just a passer-by~" said the voice outside.

A fierce look flashed in his eyes; he grabbed a flashlight, glanced at the gun in his hand, and abruptly opened the car door, ready to shoot outside.

However, as the flashlight’s beam pointed outwards,

There was a black bag on the ground, unzipped, revealing the full amount of cash inside!

Feng Yi’s eyes widened at the sight.

Just then, like a venomous snake locking onto its prey, a shadow swiftly subdued him in a fraction of a second.

Click.

The flashlight rolled away.

The light fell askew on the sparse woods nearby.

Under the illumination, those scattered shadows became even more sinister.

After dumping the unconscious man aside and kicking away his weapon, Shatush entered the car.

Inside were plenty of animal skins, all of which belonged to protected species. It seemed this group had wreaked havoc in the reserve.

The scents of various people were all over these items; even if they didn’t hunt the animals personally, they had acquired them from other poachers. Besides the animal skins, there were Tibetan antelope wools.

For such a small gang, they interacted with quite a few people—an official investigation was warranted.

Shatush got out of the car and kicked the unconscious man on the ground again, then took the Shatush shawls from him and placed them alongside the animal skins in the car.

All these were evidence, which had to be kept properly.

He tied up the man on the ground skillfully and locked him in the car.

There were scents of the boss and another person here, so after handling the situation, Shatush set off in pursuit.

But after following the trail for a short distance, Shatush stopped.

Discerning the faint scent in the air, he walked into the sparse woods nearby, following the trace to the base of a tree, where he pawed at the ground.

Below the layer of snow, after moving aside branches, leaves, and soil, there was a bag hidden underneath.

He picked up the bag, shook off the bits of debris and rocks clinging to it, and unzipped it to see the contents.

Cash and gold bars.

"Woah!"

Shatush couldn’t help laughing upon seeing everything.

If anyone could see his expression at that moment, they’d find that the already eerie mask looked even more sinister with that smile, like a grim villain.

The bag carried only one person’s scent. Examining the bag, the smile on his face grew even more "ghoulish".

Elsewhere,

The boss and number six weren’t slow; they had moved quite a distance and were steadily getting closer to where they had hidden their car.

Both were very quiet. Number six wanted to ask some questions, but sensing that the boss was in a bad mood, he didn’t dare to speak.

That made sense—several of their brothers were likely down, three at the least, and it was uncertain if Feng Yi could even catch up with them later on.
