Closer to Revealing My True Self -
Chapter 547 - 358: Xin_2
Chapter 547: Chapter 358: Xin_2
Anyway, the shedding was already finished, and he could eat whenever he was hungry or replenish his consumption at any time; squeezing a bit more venom out wasn’t an issue either.
After having his fill and relaxing, Feng Yi planned to have a good rest.
In the bedroom, a new mattress had arrived, though it was the assembly type, with a few fan-shaped pieces combining into a circular shape.
It didn’t feel as good as an integral one, but it was much more comfortable than ordinary mattresses, so it was passable.
On his first night back here, Feng Yi didn’t sleep on the mattress but went to the indoor pool instead.
Next to the pool was a small artificial beach, part of which was open-air, with only a small section indoors.
For the night, Feng Yi slept on the indoor section, curling up in his original form on the sand.
With varied information absorbed during his shedding, he now returned to complete relaxation, smelling the sea breeze blowing in from outside the window. Feng Yi adjusted his posture, using his tail as a pillow, and soon fell asleep.
The small island seemed to enter a dormant mode at night. With only a few people on the island, apart from those on shift and Wu, who was engrossed in research, everyone else was at rest.
Outside, the wind blew strong, and the waves lashed against the shore with a roaring sound. The wind swept through the woods, stirring up the sound of the leaves battering.
It was not quiet, but to Feng Yi, it didn’t feel noisy.
Feng Yi fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the island.
He had begun to dream again.
It wasn’t exactly a dream but rather a fragment of a vague memory he had received during the shedding, which was now being filled with more colors and sounds in his dream, as he reviewed it more closely.
In this special dreamscape, Feng Yi retained his consciousness; he knew he was dreaming, so he remained relatively calm. However, this time he didn’t know whose perspective it would begin with.
It was also a seaside location, with the scent of the ocean in the air.
He passed through an unfamiliar forest of tall trees and saw the blue sea merging with the golden sands.
Even though his vision was directed forward, Feng Yi could feel his long tail swishing on the sand as he passed by, flicking up big and small shells, with small animals forced out of hiding quickly retreating back into the sand.
Diving in, he swam towards the deeper parts.
In the distance, silhouettes leapt out of the water, long snake tails drawing arcs in the air.
There were also figures that didn’t leap up, but their tails stirred the water’s surface, resembling the eerie tentacles of sea beasts.
Plunging deeper, he swam toward the darker depths of the sea.
In the blue vista, enormous ancient marine reptiles swam past him, resonating archaic sounds...
The room Feng Yi was in was not sealed; there were vents open.
During sleep, Feng Yi digested the energy absorbed from this shedding. Throughout the process, invisible active substances escaped, dispersing to various parts of the island.
The island, as well as everything around it, silently absorbed these substances, which enhanced their vitality.
It rained again at night, but it didn’t last long, and the next morning was clear.
The entire island seemed to be cleansed of a layer of haze, becoming more pristine and energetic.
But Feng Yi didn’t see these changes; he only woke up on the third morning after returning to the island.
Full of energy!
Opening the window, he looked outside and wondered if he was in such a good mood that even the island’s vegetation seemed unusually vibrant with life!
Returning to his human form, he washed the sand from his body, changed into a set of clothes, and went out.
In the kitchen area, Ding was chattering with Bing about something.
Feng Yi went over and asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Boss, you’re up!" Ding brought over some pastries and handed them to Feng Yi, "I told them I caught fish just sitting on the shore!"
Feng Yi didn’t quite understand Ding’s excitement and said, "At the place the former Island Master mentioned? He said it was very suitable for fishing."
"But there weren’t any fish here before. I didn’t catch any the past few days; they only started appearing yesterday! Wu checked the water quality and said the pollution has improved! This island’s self-healing ability is really strong!" Ding said.
While saying this, Ding had his speculations about the island’s "self-healing ability."
Otherwise, how could everything start recovering just as Feng Yi returned?
Feng Yi didn’t pay too much attention to this detail, recalling the dream, he asked, "Ding, what large marine reptiles were there during the dinosaur era?"
"Large marine reptiles?" Ding thought for a moment, "Are you talking about ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, those kinds?"
Feng Yi recalled the scenes from his dream, seeing only a vague shadow, unclear in detail, only knowing they were large and from a time long past.
As he chatted with Ding about this, he suddenly received a message from Jia: "A boat is coming!"
Feng Yi thought to himself, "Xin is here?"
He quickly finished the food on his plate and headed outside with Xiao Ding.
Jia said, "The ship’s master said his name is Haveri Licin."
Feng Yi looked toward the butler.
The butler nodded.
It was indeed this person.
Feng Yi said to Jia, "Is he the only one on the ship?"
Jia answered, "Yes, just one person."
Feng Yi said, "Bring him over."
Before long, Feng Yi finally encountered this "Xin," whom the butler described as slightly eccentric.
In appearance, he was mixed-race, with somewhat curly hair that appeared brown in the sunlight. He was about the same age as Jia and the others, tall and well-built.
He wore a simple dark T-shirt and baggy shorts that revealed his firm muscles. Likely from being often outdoors, he was quite tanned.
Bing whispered, "He gives me the vibe of a bronze-colored steak!"
Ding, not in the mood to mock Bing’s description, was curious about this person and murmured to Bing, "Could this be a future comrade-in-arms?"
The newcomer gave off a first impression of being silent and steady, not very talkative. He didn’t seem a bit nervous or constrained, standing there silently was quite intimidating.
However, the emotional signals he emitted indicated that his inner turmoil was intense, very nervous, far from the calm demeanor he displayed.
Feng Yi and the others observed the newcomer, while he also took them in.
Xin’s gaze didn’t linger on anyone else, just swept past them, first checking the butler, seemingly to confirm if this was the person he had been in contact with before.
After the confirmation, he then looked at Feng Yi, recalling the words Madam Feng had spoken to him before she passed away.
Although Madam Feng had said that this person was the same species as her, without seeing his true form, it couldn’t be confirmed.
He wasn’t the kind of person who easily trusted others.
The atmosphere was a bit awkward, so Feng Yi broke the silence with a smile, "So you’re Xin mentioned by the butler?"
"Haveri Licin, you can call me ’Xin,’ ’Xiao Xin’ is fine too." While speaking, he only made brief eye contact with Feng Yi, and none with the others, quickly averting his gaze if it met theirs.
Proving one’s identity isn’t simply a matter of stating a name, and since the butler hadn’t had much contact with him, he couldn’t immediately confirm it.
Clearly, Xin knew this too. After stating his name, he took out a zodiac coin and, bypassing the only butler he had contact with, handed it directly to Feng Yi.
Feng Yi examined the zodiac coin, which had a patina and was quite thick, it was apparent it had been deliberately prepared by the grandmother.
This object was much more reliable than any other identification.
He handed the zodiac coin back to Xin.
"Nice to meet you, Xin!" Feng Yi reached out his hand.
Xin looked at the hand offered by Feng Yi, hesitated for a moment, but shook it anyway.
His Mandarin wasn’t very standard but sufficient for basic communication, he was just not talkative and seemed to have no intention of greeting the others.
Feng Yi gestured to the butler, "You should know him?"
Xin replied, "Mhm."
Feng Yi wanted to introduce Jia and the others, but he wasn’t sure how much Xin knew about his matters, pondering how to introduce them.
Before he could speak, however, he noticed Xin seemed to have something to say.
Xin averted his gaze for a moment before looking back at Feng Yi, pursed his lips, and then asked, "Are you a marine animal as well?"
Jia and the others were shocked!
What are you saying!
Such scandalous words!
To describe him as a "marine animal" in front of the butler!
They cautiously looked over.
As expected, the butler’s face had turned a shade of green with anger.
