Closer to Revealing My True Self

Chapter 546: Chapter 358 Xin_1

Feng Yi swiftly escaped from the swarm of fish and withdrew his "friendly" signal, but did not display any intimidation.

After concealing his presence, the fish in the sea only regarded him as an ordinary member of the ocean waters, neither avoiding him nor paying him extra attention.

Feng Yi pondered where his broadcasted message had gone wrong again.

The message he had broadcasted just now should not have attracted such a large school of fish, nor expressed such a strong sense of friendship.

Could there have been a "grammatical error" while crafting the message?

Or perhaps it’s unrelated, and due to the difference in species, one cannot expect them to interpret your meaning with precision?

On his way back, Feng Yi tried a few more times and found that those pheromones had a greater effect on social animals, while the reactions of solitary fish were relatively normal.

But it wasn’t absolute; more trials in the future might yield greater clarity.

Technical matters like these were beyond the grasp of a novice like Feng Yi.

Still, he needed more practice.

He continued to broadcast as he moved along.

Each time, he adjusted based on what he had learned from the previous attempt.

Finally, he returned to the island.

Before setting out, Feng Yi had made arrangements with the butler on where to land upon his return.

It wasn’t on the sandy beach, but at another location crowded with reefs.

There, a hut was built at a higher elevation.

Constructed by the previous Island Master, it served as a coastal watch post for the security personnel to monitor any movement on the sea surface.

During Feng Yi’s absence, someone would always be stationed there, with Jia and the others taking turns.

Today, it was Ding’s turn to stand guard. Seeing Feng Yi, Ding quickly fetched the bath towel prepared by the butler and approached him.

Approaching the island, Feng Yi transformed from his original form to his mimicry state and walked leisurely towards the shore.

Indeed, having remained in his original form while shedding his skin, suddenly reverting to his mimicry state felt somewhat uncomfortable.

The ground was covered with stones, which would be difficult and potentially injurious for ordinary people to walk on, but Feng Yi did not share this concern.

Although he had returned to his mimicry state, walking over this rocky seabed, his feet grew scales that made his steps slip-resistant and safe, impervious to sharp objects that might cause injury.

Taking the bath towel from Ding, he entered the coastal hut to rest briefly and change into a bathrobe.

There was no shower room here; he would need to return to the residence to wash.

Ding had already contacted the main house.

The butler and Bing were unaware of the exact day Feng Yi would return but had preemptively prepared the ingredients. Upon receiving Ding’s message, they promptly began to cook.

This was not the first time this had happened. Whenever Feng Yi returned from an outing, a large amount of food had to be prepared, especially after molting when he required extra portions.

On his way to the residence, Feng Yi sniffed the air to pick up various scents.

"No one else came here while I was gone?" Feng Yi asked.

"Only those bringing supplies and equipment," Ding replied. "The initial preparations for renovating the island aren’t finished yet, so there won’t be any major redevelopment here for now. Oh, the communication tower is almost ready, so we can talk to the outside world."

For internal communication on the island, they used walkie-talkies, but for contacting the outside world, they relied on long-distance communication. Although lacking undersea cables, they could still use satellite phones and similar tools.

All necessary equipment had been installed, and all required registrations had been made. While communication costs were high and not always smooth, being able to make contact was enough.

As Ding briefed him, Feng Yi got the picture and was also certain that "Xin" hadn’t arrived yet.

At the residence, the butler was already waiting and greeted Feng Yi with a look of concern: "You’ve worked hard!"

"Not at all," Feng Yi said.

It was merely going out to shed his skin; it was perhaps tiring, but not particularly hard.

But to the butler, how could Feng Yi not be exhausted after being away for several days without proper meals?

It was indeed very exhausting!

He needed to be replenished!

Feng Yi went for a bath first, washing off some impurities clinging to his body. When he returned, the room was already filled with the aroma of food.

The pre-prepared ingredients were quickly transformed into delicious and generous meals, served one after another on the table.

Feng Yi made quick work of the food, converting it into energy to replenish what he had lost.

While he ate, the butler briefed him on the island’s recent changes during his absence.

Thinking of the future employee, Feng Yi asked, "Does Xin live far from here? Did he get in touch with you?"

The butler shook his head. "I don’t know where he lives. The last time we spoke, I gave him our location. He said he would come, but the timing is uncertain.

"Although I haven’t had much contact with him, based on what I know, he’s most likely to come here by boat by himself. It probably won’t be a large vessel, and with only him aboard, there will be more limitations. He’ll pass by other small islands and lands en route, needing to stop to resupply. If he encounters other issues, it will take even longer; sea voyages are filled with uncertainties and communication difficulties.

"We don’t need to keep waiting here; we’ll just leave a message for him. He can contact us via satellite phone when he arrives."

Feng Yi didn’t plan to wait there indefinitely. He would rest for a few more days before heading back. Although disappointed not to meet the person, it was no more than that.

After eating, Feng Yi had Wu perform a simple check on him.

When gathering venom, Feng Yi had collected a bit extra.

Having just finished molting, he wasn’t sure if his venom had become more potent, so gathering more data would give him a better understanding.
