Chapter 507: Chapter 338: Since I’m Here_1
Wen Zhiyu grabbed the shop owner by the collar and hoisted him up, muscles in his arms bulging, his face suffused with a murderous aura:
"You deceived me!"
Wen Zhiyu was so angry he felt like he could breathe fire.
He knew that nine out of ten meteorite products on the market could be fakes, or even all of them.
He didn’t care about authenticity!
All he wanted was a sword that was pleasing to his eye!
Even if it was just a decoration to take back, he could still show off to some brothers who knew even less than he did.
But!
Are you expecting me to show off with this piece of garbage?!
Won’t I completely disgrace myself?!
"A sword as fragile as a crisped skin, breaking at a single touch, and you tell me this is a Dragon-Slaying Sword forged from celestial meteoric iron? Forget the sword, and slaying a dragon—this quality couldn’t even knock out a snake!!"
The shop owner, both angry and anxious, broke into a sweat, his face even angrier than theirs:
"You’re extorting us!"
He did plan to swindle this fool out of some money, but the stuff was indeed genuine!
He had no idea how that perfectly good sword had suddenly broken, and all he could think of now was: Could these three be swindlers?
His look towards Wen Zhiyu changed.
I did not see this coming, you look like a fool, but your scheming is so deep!
Shop owner: "Let go at once! I’m calling the police!"
Wen Zhiyu: "Go ahead, we want to call the police too, for peddling fake goods to me! 800,000 for this trash?"
Pan Weining had already taken out his mobile phone, ready to make the call to the police.
Feng Yi spoke up: "Wait a minute!"
Pan Weining: "What’s up?"
Feng Yi said: "This sword does seem to be forged from meteorite iron, but the fact that it broke suddenly is also true."
Pan Weining: "Doesn’t that just prove that their goods have quality issues!"
Before his voice fell, a voice came from outside the shop:
"What quality issues do the goods of our shop have?!"
A man in his fifties with deep-set features and piercing eyes walked in from outside.
Upon entering the shop, his gaze swiftly swept over Feng Yi and his companions, then settled on the broken sword, his brow twitching slightly. He looked somewhat surprised, yet not so surprised.
Wen Zhiyu looked at him: "And who are you?"
"I am the owner of this shop, Boss Zeng by name," Boss Zeng handed out a business card.
Wen Zhiyu tossed aside the man he was holding, strode over, glanced at the business card, and said with a mocking tone, "Oh, the real boss is here? So the one inside is fake?"
Boss Zeng seemed to ignore the sarcasm in his words, his face still calm and smiling: "This is my nephew, helping out with the shop."
The one Wen Zhiyu had held up quickly stepped forward and said to Boss Zeng, "Uncle! They broke the sword! And now they’re trying to frame me!"
Wen Zhiyu’s eyes bulged, ready to erupt in anger.
Boss Zeng raised a hand, gesturing for him to keep calm, saying, "I know this has nothing to do with you. It’s all a misunderstanding!"
He then signaled to his nephew with his eyes: "Go make tea!"
His nephew seemed reluctant but feeling the intense stare of Boss Zeng and a sense of guilt, he shrank his neck and quickly stepped away to obediently make tea.
Boss Zeng gestured for Feng Yi and his companions to sit down, then picked up the half of the sword that had fallen to the ground, examining the break. "It did indeed break on its own, my nephew misunderstood you earlier. But this sword is indeed forged from real meteorite. If you don’t believe it, you can have it tested at an authoritative institution."
Wen Zhiyu dismissed it with a wave of his hand: "I don’t care whether it’s real or fake, we’re not afraid of being falsely accused if we have a clear conscience! What I care about is for it to at least be durable! You’re asking for 800,000 for this piece of junk, such a rip-off! I almost bought it!"
Boss Zeng’s eyebrows twitched at the mention of "800,000," but he kept a poker face.
If wasn’t for Feng Yi noticing the surge of anger in the other’s emotional state, it would be easy to think this person was perfectly composed.
Boss Zeng calmly explained: "This sword is indeed made from real meteoric iron, and such material might contain some unknown powers."
Wen Zhiyu’s face said: You’re still trying to scam me! I want to see how you’re going to spin this tale!
Boss Zeng: "As indicated in the archives, this sword was forged about twenty or close to thirty years ago by a very famous master at the time. Although machines were used in the process, a significant part of the crafting was done manually by that master himself!"
Boss Zeng ran his fingers along the blade: "It was very difficult to forge this sword. The iron meteorite used was peculiar. I didn’t understand the technical terms used by the master, but what he meant was it’s better off as a decorative object, without high expectations for its utility."
Wen Zhiyu: "Heh."
With how easily it broke, what use could it possibly have?
Boss Zeng kept his composure and continued: "Actually, we were prepared at the time. The master said, when the day comes that it breaks on its own, it could be made into other objects, no matter how uneven the break or into how many pieces it divides. Each object made from it would be very durable and would not break inexplicably like this."
"Many of the old folk from the town’s veteran shops are aware of this. Now they seldom come out because of health reasons, but if you wish to inquire, it’s still possible to verify."
Wen Zhiyu, seeing that the other party did not seem to be lying, began to waver a bit.
Before he could speak further, Boss Zeng’s nephew came out with tea, his face still showing signs of grievance.
