Chapter 383: Chapter 280: The Perfect Villain Look _1

After taking the pictures, Feng Yi carefully sensed his surroundings.

He had previously only heard that the scent of the Qin Emperor Brocade Snake and the Cauliflower Spearhead Viper were similar, and when he followed Captain Wen and the others to carry out tasks in the mountains, they had only caught Cauliflower Spearhead Vipers.

However, now that he had caught a Qin Emperor Brocade Snake, Feng Yi was able to distinguish between its scent and that of the Spearhead Viper.

His sensory abilities were more suited to the mountain forest environment; in a human city, his performance would be affected, with a limited range of perception and insufficient long-distance sensitivity.

But in the mountains, unless there were special circumstances, he was sharp enough to capture the scent left behind by any snake that had been there.

At this moment, Feng Yi could sense where the nearest Cauliflower Spearhead Viper was.

Instead of rushing to find the snake, Feng Yi sat down first, allowing the Qin Emperor Brocade Snake to crawl over his hand while he flipped open his notepad and wrote down information about this snake with his other hand.

When the time was about right, Feng Yi wrapped the captured Qin Emperor Brocade Snake around his hand and followed the scent to find the Cauliflower Spearhead Viper.

Why wait a while before going to seek out the Cauliflower Spearhead Viper?

Because during the course of the mountain mission, camera shooting included a time display, which was a task requirement.

If he went immediately, with Feng Yi’s speed, he could find one quickly. In that case, the camera’s recorded times would be close together, and if both snakes were found far apart, Feng Yi would have to come up with an excuse or even fabricate a lie.

In order to write a more meticulous task report later on, Feng Yi needed to manage his time well. Then there would be no need to fabricate anything in the report.

The Cauliflower Spearhead Viper was a bit far away, and others might not spend the energy to look for it, but for Feng Yi, this was not a difficult task and did not drain much of his energy.

If there was a body temperature detector present, one would find that Feng Yi’s body surface temperature was about the same as the environment’s, and it would change in accordance to environmental temperature fluctuations.

This was something that would never happen to an ordinary person!

Regular people even feeling a fluctuation of 0.5 degrees in their body temperature would clearly sense discomfort, let alone fluctuations of several degrees with the environment—a significant change could mean a life-threatening crisis.

After all, humans are very typical homeothermic animals in nature.

But Feng Yi could easily switch between "homeothermic" and "poikilothermic" modes without feeling any strain.

Being poikilothermic here was more energy-efficient, but the reason Feng Yi switched to this mode was not for energy conservation; it was because of the snake in his hand.

Snakes are poikilothermic, and if Feng Yi was going to hold one for a long time, it was better to be in the same mode.

In that way, Feng Yi’s body temperature being close to the ambient temperature and his concealed scent would make him merely a support for the snake, indistinguishable from the surrounding rocks and trees.

Perhaps it only thought it was coiling around a moving branch.

With one hand holding a snake, it wasn’t long before Feng Yi reached the target location. He chose a good angle and set up the camera.

Then, he captured a Cauliflower Spearhead Viper from the underbrush.

One hand held the Spearhead Viper, the other held the Qin Emperor Brocade.

One was a venomous snake, the other was non-venomous.

When placed together, one could discern differences upon close examination. Anyway, it was quite obvious to Feng Yi.

However, if one were in the mountains, amidst the backdrop of the environment, any ordinary person who encountered a snake with such a pattern would indeed find it difficult to determine which one it was at first glance. The safest course of action would be to keep away, not to approach and try to identify which one it was, venomous or not.

If one were bitten, it might not always be possible to get an anti-viper serum injection in time when up in the mountains. A bite wound from one of these venomous snakes would need to be censored if posted online.

Feng Yi moved the two snakes in front of the camera to compare them.

He didn’t just hold them by the neck but let them entwine on his hand without being fixed, so the snakes were more relaxed, and the footage appeared more natural and lively, through which one could see their states.

Feng Yi simply wanted the viewers of the video to know that both snakes were in very good spirits and that his actions had not harmed them.

He was just starting a few comments for the camera when...

The two snakes began to fight!

Seeing this, Feng Yi quickly separated them.

To prevent any more fighting, Feng Yi kept them at a distance apart. When filming, he moved them separately in front of the camera.

He brought the highly venomous Cauliflower Spearhead Viper close to the lens so that it could be captured more clearly and up close.

"Look at these mesmerizing patterns, this triangular head, sharp face, these pits, that gaze—it’s the spitting image of a villain!"

"Both cool and not to be messed with!"

The "villainous-looking" snake was flicking its tongue, sensing scents around it. Its attention might have been focused on the other snake not far away, oblivious to Feng Yi’s narration and unaware of its image being recorded on camera.

After recording, Feng Yi moved the Spearhead Viper away and brought the Qin Emperor Brocade closer.

"This is... a hermit disguised as a villain! Lacking pits and venom fangs, a rounder face, look at those round eyes, brimming with innocence, seems very good-natured..."

Before he could finish, the Brocade snake struck at the camera.

Feng Yi: "..."

Forget it.

"Maybe my camera carries some other scent that makes it aggressive. Actually, its temper is quite alright."

As soon as he spoke, the "good-tempered" snake struck at the camera again.

Feng Yi: "..."

This little thing was just too uncooperative!

After filming, Feng Yi returned both snakes to their original roaming areas.
