Chapter 355: Chapter 260 Is it poison?_1

By the riverside, at the construction site of a scenic area still under development, nocturnal animals were very active.

The light from the flashlight shone in the darkness like a beacon.

The number of insects drawn to the light increased.

Feng Yi sat on a rock, sending messages to others on his cell phone while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Two people lay at his feet, one was Wen Suolin, the other his bodyguard.

In the blackness of the night, the buzzing mosquitoes made a round before settling on the exposed skin of the two bodies lying on the ground.

Not far away, the scent of rodents wafted over with the evening breeze.

The successive croaking of frogs along the riverbank made the night even livelier.

The "Little Koi" wrapped around Feng Yi’s hand seemed eager to try something.

It wanted to crawl over there but was pulled back by Feng Yi to wrap around his hand again.

"Eat when we get back!"

Not sure if it understood Feng Yi’s words, "Little Koi" didn’t try to run away again.

Ding-ling-ling—

A new video call came through, dialed by the director of the Yang City Zoo.

They were likely waiting for news on their end as well.

Just less than a day, the director looked much haggard.

"Did you find ’Little Koi’?" the director asked.

"Yeah."

Feng Yi adjusted the camera, moving his hand with the small python into view.

With the help of the flashlight’s light, the director could see the small python clearly.

"It really is ’Little Koi’!"

Seeing ’Little Koi’ alive, the director was so excited he almost burst into tears.

"Good, good! It’s alive!"

The director was jubilant, the zoo’s reptile house’s star attraction was still there!

His marketing plans formulated earlier didn’t need to be tossed in the trash can!

"Feng Yi, bring it back as soon as possible. Ah, who knows how much it suffered out there. Accustomed to the life in the zoo, out there, who knows if it could adapt to the different conditions, if it got sick?"

While speaking, the director saw through the camera two figures lying on the ground.

One of them moved, as if about to wake up.

Feng Yi kicked over, and there was no more movement.

The director: "..."

The director cautiously said, "Didn’t kick up any trouble, did you?"

Feng Yi: "No worries, I held back."

The director fell silent.

The force of a kick that knocked someone out, was that supposed to be restrained?!

"Hey, there’s a lot of frog sounds, are you close to water? There seem to be a lot of mosquitoes on your side too, all those flying in front of the camera are mosquitoes, right? Did you spray any mosquito repellent?" the director asked.

"No," Feng Yi said, "I don’t attract mosquitoes."

Feng Yi controlled his breathing to prevent attracting mosquitoes to himself, but didn’t drive away the ones nearby.

However, the director’s attention wasn’t focusing on the mosquitoes but instead said:

"Are these two the masterminds? Can I see their faces?" the director asked.

"Sure."

Feng Yi walked over and pushed Wen Suolin around a bit to get a clearer shot of his face on camera.

The first thing the director saw was a face covered in so many mosquitoes that his features were indistinct, which gave him goosebumps.

Once Feng Yi swatted the mosquitoes away, the director could finally see the man’s face clearly.

"Professor Wen?!" the director exclaimed.

"You know him?" Feng Yi asked.

The director was still in a state of shock, "We invited him for an event at the reptile house before. Even though he isn’t an expert from the National Protection Bureau, he does have some fame in the field of python research. Before we collaborated with Steve, we had Professor Wen come over to guide the work at the reptile house."

Currently, there was a wall in the reptile house still adorned with photos of various experts and leaders, including one of the director with Wen Suolin.

Feng Yi hadn’t taken a close look at the display wall in the reptile house and hadn’t met Wen Suolin in person, but he had heard Steve mention him and seen Wen Suolin’s name when reading scientific literature.

Once the director mentioned it, he immediately put two and two together.

At this moment, the director was still shocked, "Never would have imagined it was him! You can’t judge a book by its cover! Stealing our snake, it’s just evil!"

The director ranted about smashing the photo frame on the display wall.

Knowing that Feng Yi had to stay here to cooperate with the investigation, the director said he would personally come to pick up "Little Koi."

If Feng Yi or someone from the National Protection Bureau was sending it back, that was one thing, but beyond them, the director didn’t trust anyone else!

To be on the safe side, it was best that he come himself.

In addition to the director, Feng Yi also contacted the Yang City division of the National Protection Bureau, suggesting that someone here might be related to a case they were investigating. At this point, they were also on their way.

When the local law enforcement personnel from the small county arrived, Wen Suolin and his bodyguard were lying on the ground being fed to the mosquitoes.

By the time they took the two men away, the bodyguard, who had woken up, claimed he had been attacked by a giant python!

Of course, the law enforcement didn’t believe him.

Once the bodyguard was more lucid, he started to doubt himself as he touched his neck.

He hadn’t seen anything before he passed out; it was just that in the instant, it felt like he had been attacked by a large snake.

It was so fast, he couldn’t see what it looked like at all; his neck was quickly constricted, and then he passed out. Was it an illusion?

The bodyguard indeed only had strangulation marks on his neck, not some strange giant python bite marks.

Later, law enforcement personnel came to inquire with Feng Yi.

Feng Yi admitted he had taken care of both of them.

"Just using the advantage of the environment for a surprise attack. You learn a few tricks when you’re constantly on field missions."

The local law enforcement believed Feng Yi’s explanation.

Even though Feng Yi looked like one of those popular stars in the entertainment industry, he was a bona fide expert! Wasn’t it said online that Feng Yi was very strong? How could he go into the field if he didn’t have some real skills?
